The wolves added two lottery talents. OKC added Caruso, one of if not the best perimeter defenders in the league. Wtf. Getting Holmes was a good move but we need to do more
Wolves aren't that good and their salary mess is worse then ours. They'll have to do a soft rebuild around their young talent and imo they won't be the nuggets killers they are now once they go that direction
Nope, not insane. It's the salary cap math. Every team has to deal with Exact same problem: You can't overpay the 5th starter. And with the new rules you can't do like GS did: "screw it, well just pay 300 million more in taxes per year if we go over cap." That second apron they added means if you go over you can't add late season buyouts and full of other small but lethal provisions. Like if you trade a player you can't trade a 25 million player for two 10's and a 5mil. It's salary for salary. It makes it harder to round up a team around the 4 well paid starters.
@@paulfritsch672 imagine if they started letting players go when Jordan was in his prime...sure we can win now, but let's not overpay players, let's not get excited, we don't need Rodman, we don't need whoever, let's draft these guys, so we have balanced team in the next 10 years...When you have terrible team it's bad, but you are not missing your window...

Booth extending Zeke was horrific. Then telling everyone who would listen that you want Holmes (or anyone else year after year) allows other GMs to ether plan around your plans and/or sucker you into making a trade to ensure that you get what you already told people you wanted. And the trade team to get you to overpay
I thought I understood the timing to be KCP opts out by Saturday, after July 1st when poison pill gone, trade Zeke and ??? for the vet or vets, then re-sign KCP after which will put us in the 2nd apron, fill out roster, extend Jamal, and set for 2 years when we have draft picks again in the 2026 draft
Lost Bruce Brown last season and KCP this year. Last draft/season, added 3 rookies and Holiday. Once Malone gave him some minutes, because he had no choice, Holiday played pretty well. Nothing from 3 “older, experienced, and ready to contribute” rookies. Now, lose KCP and add another “older experienced” rookie. Booth admitted he kinda bailed on last season because of the CBA and the rookie gamble. If Booth isn’t as sharp as some believe him to be, the most memorable Jokic memory when he retires may be, “how could they waste the best player in decades, for all but one season!” We will see, after our resident oligarch makes money regardless of outcome. Our “governor” can’t lose, unlike everybody else! 🙃
How is it that Tim Connelly got the #8 pick without loosing any picks but a swap and a first rounder in the 2030’s and Cal had to give up our second round picks for the near term.

I don’t know why you keep saying Calvin and the Nuggets front office let everyone know they wanted Holmes. When these things get out it’s rarely the team, it’s almost always the player’s agent. The agent leaks the info to get others interested and get his guy up draft boards. And it worked.
Saying everyone knew Wolves were gonna take Holmes at 27 is just a lie by Booth. Wolves needed someone like someone like Shannon Jr off the bench at 27. Holmes could help them if they lose KAT, but with KAT Gobert Naz not alot of need for that and Holmes on most big boards was 22-40 so it’s not like he was some massive value everyone loved. I think he’s a good fit for nuggets, but he’s not someone everyone was dying to get or else they also trade up like Nuggets. He’s not a “great athlete” like Swipa said. 26-28 inch vertical is horrific. He’s a decent athlete. He kinda reminds me of a poor man’s Myles Turner which at 22 in a bad draft you could do worse.
But why? KCP is a loss yes but you have moldable players that are itching to show their talent. I feel like we helped ourselves getting a prepared big. CB can play outstanding defense. Just now needs to work on his shot.
Honestly my biggest assessment from watching him at Dayton is that he really needs to build lower-body strength and continue improving footwork. If he can do that, he's great in my opinion.

Another off-season lol... CHILL OUT. Two offseasons ago we got KCP and BB then won a title. Life has been good. Also BB was a ball handler which KCP isn't, so he should fill the role better.
Champion level organizations do not let great players just walk out the door. If we have to lose him we better at least do a sign and trade. Losing him for nothing is insane. Additionally, I am sick of hearing that we can’t keep KCP because we would lose flexibility. Booth has shown zero ability or willingness to be flexible. Being able to sign a player to the MLE doesn’t matter if you are gonna waste it on players like Reggie.
See, the issue is not Calvin's Dream, it's Malone not supporting it. He knew he should have played Pickett but chose Collin. Malone chose to overuse Gordon instead of playing Zeke more at the Center. He played Reggie over everyone on the bench.. So, who's fault? Is it really 🤔
What about Nnaji’s this year and over his career makes him deserve playing time. Nnaji has had 4 years of coaching, teaching and mollycoddling and was a 3 year veteran this season. He knows what the Nuggets and Malone want and he chooses to deliver none of it.
@andrewyarosh1809 Guess what ? Zeke was never a center, but they tried to force him into that roll. And when they chose not to draft one this year, they were left with him and should have used him. Malone buried out Gordon by playing him at the backup 5. I never said zeke was good, but he's what we had.
As usual of late, the comments in here are filled with pessimistic doomers. One tough loss against a difficult matchup, and Nuggets fans have lost all confidence. Crazy. And annoying as fuck. Also people comparing Daron Holmes and Peyton Watson need to stop with that. They're completely different in almost every way except that both can block shots. That's it. Holmes is a 4/5 with some post moves, some 3 level shooting ability, good screener and rebounder. Watson is a 2/3, tremendous athletic wing defender with great timing and recovery ability to block shots, and with nascent ballhandling and PnR ability [they could actually potentially have a little two man game with Holmes screening Watson handling the ball].

Booth looked petty and butt hurt about KCP last night. He also made some controversial comments about MPJ last year. He's thrown some zingers Coach Malone's way. He could use a lesson in relationship management communication. He's also pretty terrible at keeping a secret. That said, his picks and free agents have been solid. No big misses.
Him and Malone must align. Why draft kids if the coach doesn't play them. Also Jokic needs to stamp his authority and ask them all to get their act together.
I can't take it, Booth thinking he's the man...dude, bruh, my dear, you just need to keep good players, you are not a puppet master behind the scenes, what you do don't matter right now, only thing that matters is having good players on the roster whilst Jokic is there...if KCP leaves two spots are getting worse. CB as a starter is worse than KCP and whoever plays in CB's spot will be worse than CB
