I've used the diy version of weed killer. Vinegar, salt, and dish soap, but I've never thought to use the dish soap in roundup. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Btw, I love your log house and garage! Beautiful!!

Thanks for watching and the comment. This is my second year using the product with surfactant and the crabgrass has been reduced significantly. I also changed my mowing habits during this time of the year to include bagging any grass clippings. I believe this also helps reduce the number of seeds being reintroduced into the lawn.
@@diymyestate How about planting new grass seed after using the Roundup. I've read that you can plant new grass 30 days after using Roundup for Lawns. Has that been your experience? Thanks
I called Roundup and their customer service claims the product becomes neutral when it comes in contact with the ground. Since there could be residual spray left on any dead plant matter, they recommend waiting 30 days. I personally killed a large portion of my lawn with Roundup and replanted between 21 and 30 days. If you leave in a cool season area now would be a good time to spray before planting in early September. I hope you find this information useful.

Iv got crabgrass to the yang in my front yard so ima try the dish soap in a weed wick with glyphosate , never really attacked them with weed killer before so they’ve had a few years to fester seeds and all 😂
I don't think any surfactant actually got into your second test section because the liquid that was in the hose between the canister and the spray nossle was not exposed to any soap. That being said, dish soap is an ionic surfactant, which can interfere with the efficacy of the herbicide depending on the pKa of the product. Non ionic surfactant is made to address this problem. All in all, your sample size is too small to draw any meaningful conclusions, at least based on this test. That being said, out Republic is under seige, and we must root out anyone who does not support and defend the Constitution.
Do you think making it stronger will have an effect on it killing grass? I have a ton of crab grass and am intrigued but also concerned about the grass. I have Kentucky bluegrass.
I wouldn't make the solution stronger because it could stress and potentially burn the grass. I also have Kentucky Bluegrass and had no negative effects.
Absolutely no side effects! I have 5 different cultivars in my lawn including blue grass, tall, creeping, fine fescues plus rye. I've had no issues with my cool season lawn when using this product with soap/surfactant added at my suggested rate of application.
Looks like you sprayed more on the largest 3rd plant with the dish liquid. Eg why not do another test the opposite of what was in this video where you spray more on the large 3rd grass piece without the dish wash additive and less spray on the grass with the additive. If you get the same results after this second test then that will be a convincing result to use the dish additive
I'm working on a video where I sprayed 1 acre with Q4 (Herbicide that kills crabgrass) and dish soap. I sprayed a second acre with Q4 but I didn't add dish soap to this application. The 1 acre with Q4 and dish soap, I had a 90% kill ratio. The second acre without adding the dish soap I had a 50% kill ratio. If you look at your lawn when there is a morning dew, you can see the water droplets on the crabgrass. In comparison the blades of grass in your lawn are evenly wet with no concentrated droplets. That is because the crabgrass has a waxy film and fescue (in my case) does not. Thank you for the comment.
Round up in small doses ie a gallon or two along with PPE is no issue. When you are farming and spraying thousands of gallons, and getting your clothing soaked in it, that could be in issue.
I'm not sure if this suggestion helps but I did have better success mixing 6 oz. with 1 gal. of water vs. what is recommended on the label which is 4 oz. to 1 gal. of water. I also noticed crabgrass seed will germinate over a period of time and not all at once. Thank you for watching and for the comment.
