When I saw tom run 5.99 at VMP years back it looked too easy and it shows that when things come together something good is gonna happen.... It is a fine line getting that much power down the track.... If NHRA ever thinks about how they could have success with D&D cars the unknown of what that could turn into nobody knows! Props to Goldstone and any of you thrashing on these cars to put up the numbers you do!!!

Wow, you might be the first person to break an input shaft on a Gear Vendors OD unit. I bet Gear Vendors is going to want that broken shaft for analysis. Good news is that OD unit is WAY cheaper and easier to replace than the tranny.

I don't understand why an extra gear (overdrive) can't be used within the transmissions, just use 2 or 3 speeds up the strip and the top gear ratio for street cruising, either that or a two speed differential?

It takes a special personality to endure high level drag racing & have success; resilience to failure, keep emotions out of mechanical failure. Oh yeah, and lots of spare parts. The only competitive close is baseball. Id a hitter is successful 2 of 10, he's borderline, 3 of 10, a seasonal star, 4 of 10, a historical star. Five of 10? Never been done. In racing, components fail; baseball bodies fail. Each time you come to the track or stadium, you must be 100% focused on your task. The intensity is either on or off; either thrashing like mad, & total concentration from burn-out, slightest errors can end a career, the car or you. Waiting in dugout for a turn at the plate, where failure is the norm & a mental lapse + a 98 mph baseball may end your career, or your life. On the field, it's mental: focus & wait; stats, strategy & situation race thru your mind, PLUS physical: body ready to move in one of dozens possible directions w/ perfect timing & speed. Any lapse means failure. A drag racer waits for the light: too quick, red light; too slow, lose. All while considering mechanical/performance anomalies & tire-track interactions. The nature of both sports is either the extremes of wait & fight distraction or all out & avoid errors. The radical difference, & need to shift between the frantic on or the brain deadening off is the most challenging aspect of both. No other sports combine the total intensity of involvement w/ periods of waiting to be involved like high level racing & big league baseball.
