Had Sailor Stars been dubbed by Cloverway in 2000/2001, then it would be competition between Emilie Barlow (CWi) and Cherami Leigh (Viz).

Meaning that if CN didn’t have Cloverway botch up the dubbing of the previous two seasons (it’s been revealed by other companies and cartoon creators that it’s usually the network that puts in the demands for edits, cuts and script changes to the shows they air) they would of dubbed Stars.

Cherami is a great voice actress, the problem is to follow the mouth movement and the sound that sounds different, this song is Japanese exclusive made so that is what it was made for. The english dub do their best.

Oh, a backstory film for Minako/Sailor V would be perfect. The TV series delved into her background a bit from her time in London, a film would serve well to go deeper into that period.

I remember in the Japanese version, Minako starts off shaky, but then starts singing stronger as the song goes on. I love that the dubbing team paid attention to that detail. :)

Thank you Viz for really introducing me to Sailor Moon and allowing me to have much more appreciation for beautiful hand drawn classic anime. I've had so much fun watching this new dub with my mother and sister. We loved seeing all 3 movies in theatres over previous summers and we cannot wait for the new Sailor Moon Crystal film in 2020! PLEASE continue to save more series like you did here ...would love to see something like Tokyo Mew Mew saved next!! Thank you Sailor Guardians!

Eee, you're dubbing the songs, too? Yay! That sounded great! I always find it odd when a dub suddenly goes back to Japanese when a character sings, so I'm glad you went ahead and did English versions of the songs! I can't wait to hear "Search for Your Love"!

they've really on dubbed 3 songs in this dub and that's usually when the characters are singing. For example, when Usagi and Naru were singing a terrible rendition of Moonlight Densetsu and the song Rei sings in an episode.

Wow, All those days she spent dreaming of being an idol. You can see how hard she worked to become what she wants to be. She poured her heart and soul into her goal. Sailor Venus is a shining example that if you work hard towards what you dream of and reach for the stars there is nothing you can't accomplish. Not to mention having a Cat who sounds like Adam Park the 2nd Black Mighty Morphin Power Ranger, the Black Ninja Ranger, Zeo Ranger IV Green, and the 1st Green Turbo Ranger helps.

Starlights are probably the worst thing that happened to the show from a season with the STRONGEST premier (Seriously the first 6 episodes of Stars felt like a movie) to just throwing the Senshi away so we can watch Seiya be a simp for a grieving Usagi as the other two are just mean. Oh yeah and lets make them stronger than everyone. Shame because in the manga they were actually tolerable and Seiya actually accepted Usagi loved Mamoru.

Uh... Her name’s 美奈子, so MI, NA, and KO are all separate, and so by default one would usually emphasize the first syllable. So the English dub is probably correct. Same goes for Makoto. It’s like how Hikaru Utada pronounces her name correctly as “U-ta-DA” when speaking Japanese, but mispronounces it “u-TA-da” when speaking English to not confuse English speakers who decide it themselves what sounds like “correct Japanese”.

@@MoonPrismStudios I thought about that (might be some time until i buy the season, im way behind lol). But what I'm curious is if these lyrics are more an adaptation and not necessarily a more direct translation. To make the lip flaps fit with the singing, they may have altered the lyrcs rather than singing the actual translation, if you get what I mean? I'd be interested to see if its different from their actual translation of Route Venus or not. I always find different translations and interpretation of Japanese song lyrics interesting. ^_^

I’m pretty sure it will be the direct translation, but I mean who knows. 🤷🏼‍♂️ And yeah I’ll bet that’s what they did (alter the translation to where it could fit the lip flaps). But I’m sure in doing so they stayed as close to the original as they possibly could.

Or, it's the client who decides how the characters name is pronounced. This isn't a case of the actor being unsure how to pronounce the name, as an ADR director would tell them they're saying the name wrong. The client who's producing the dub has say on how the names will be pronounced. As a similar case happen with Persona 5, where on social media the actors were being attacked for how the character names were produced, when they revealed it's how the client (that being atlus) wants it to be pronounced.
