Good video. Just one thing to note. You should run the round edge of the base against the fence/jig, not the flat edge. If the router rotates at all, the geometry of the flat edge will push the router away from the fence, causing a crooked dado. If the round edge is against the fence, rotating the router will not push it away. The flat edge is for keeping the router stable when you lay it on it's side to change bits.

Thank you SO MUCH for this! I recently found a set of router bits in my garage, which led me to hunt for a router...which I also found. I'm living my best life in retirement, crafting and building things, and a router will just up my game. This video was so helpful!!!

Thanks for this one, Anika. Love that I can do a dado with the router - no need for those scary blades in the table saw! You're a STAR!

Thank you!! Yup! Dados are easy with a router. Just make sure to adjust the width of the dados carefully

@@Anikasdiylife ❤ Thank You! You're a star as always! Absolutely. I've clamped a few pieces of off-cuts/scrap wood to the table and trying out the various bits. Thoroughly enjoying this learning curve.

Great starter information on using a trim router. I'd love to see a lesson on using a plunge router to make a decorative design in a cabinet door for example.
