Thank you, I was in hobby 10 years and back than and i spend upto $30,000. This time I when a different way getting the cost way down to a point. Your lucky because you can buy the good gear in the USA were here not much here and it cost a arm and leg to post to here from over seas and Australia dollars is weak and so this time around I making hobby work for me . Making the pipe for Wade does time to make as I am looking at a different direction making pipes by using water pressure and the exhaust will have better flow and lighter. This year coming I'm buying new tooling and getting things done laser cutting. The whole idea is get the cost down. The Rovan 71cc is perfect platform to work on even alot engine builder will touch them but ha the challenge is there to make into a diamond 💎. I love the challenge and happy help Wade out if we have to make changes to make it better again. I have work out the right set up for this engine, your gearing, clutch spring, and pipe to suit your engine is the most important , if you do not get that right the will not show its potential . I doing a bit of R&D work on Chinese Reed blocks which 3/4 cheaper than DDM which I do a video in couple weeks or earlier . I work out how to do my videos when testing, put the phone to your head LOL and i will do some real bashing I promise you that. You will get there with your 71cc. Remember gearing , clutch spring, and pipe size and tuning are the most important them to make that engine shine!
Great work on the Rovan 71cc engine and custom pipe setup. You mentioned buying better springs for the Rovan Rear 10mm Shocks. Which springs are they? The stock rear 10mm shock springs are way to soft and I’m looking for upgraded springs also. Thanks for sharing this great information!
Thanks for the video and time ... One question ..i know you explained it in the vid but i didnt understand .. about the reed will the stock reed that came with the engine run fine or not.... And if i get the engine from rovan and port it like i do with the 36cc or 45cc is it a good engine to run . With a good exhuast .. im looking forward to have 71cc for my rovan WLT ...
No rovan engines do not come with reeds, the reed block is bolt on and have put another transfer port for extra fuel plus do a window port on the inlet side of the piston, how a reed works is let's fuel in and cannot come back to the carby, it works like inlet valve on a 4 stroke so you can run more port duration timing on the inlet side if your two stroke. For the motor to buy would be 71cc and it be more bang for your money
I had to buy black bone clutch bell which runs a 15 mm DIA bearing so had to buy that clutch bell carrier to suit so use high speed gears from black bone
Will not fit as the bearing biger, stock bell is 12mm as for the Taylor is 15mm. Rovan makes a 15mm heavy duty clutch carrier and has clutch bell to suit with hex drive set as a kit only. The only reason I brought Taylor and black bone was for the high speed ratios as the rovan 71cc loves 26 teeth pinion onwards. Plus I needed a unbreakable setup
Where u based Robert? I’m based in Sydney and also make pipes n bits. I’m part way through building a dyno and would love to love to do a comparison at some point if your keen.
i cant believe someone actually bought 71cc from rovan XD considering how shitty is the 45cc... but on the other hand 29cc from rovan baja is not bad i like it, it always starts very easily allmost always first pull and have decent power for something as cheap
71cc are a more better made motor, 45cc cylinder is not made good, 29cc are made better and cheap good for the money, 45cc over price for what they are
I will get back to you on the setting as I run a different setting with my own pipes. All different pipes run a different setting. A basic setting would be 11/4 turn out on L ans H
@@robertblunden7160 ok but here the big question I have a Baja Max 5T it has a Rovan cage on it that will it fit I’m looking at your chamber it’s huge I don’t no if cage will get around that do u have Facebook u can see my truck an decide
Pat it should fit as the one I build Wade was to suit a truck body and he does not run standard rovan cage, if you have the big plastic cage it should fit in plus should fit sand rail steel cage on the Max that came out with.
