❌My Rover dog sitting Review. 💔 What's Rover.com? MISLEADING / NO STATS / No EXPERIENCE NEEDED / REVIEWS MISSING. Dog Cat Pet walking service, pet sitting, pet boarding, pet walker, pet house sit & you can with NO proven experience or knowledge. Rover app will promote you as a pet care giver dog walking, dog grooming, dog & cat sitting, cat dog boarding, dog walker, pet companion, come over visits, etc.
❓ Should you know Rover's numbers - DEATHS? INJURED? MISSING? WOUNDED? OWNERS RECEIVING TRAUMA/GRIEF THERAPY COUNSELING❓
STORY - My precious Jazzy is a overly submissive sweet hairless rescue dog was killed while in care of their sitter - Rover Still Employs Sitter ❌ANGIE P. (www.rover.com/members/angie-p... has 0 - COMPLAINTS, 0 - DEATH COUNT, 0 - LOST, but she's 5⭐. 😭 Alone I found Jazzy's little body was found lifeless & disfigured on the INSIDE median of Atlanta's major Interstate I-75 (goo.gl/maps/u2R9NYVwjHmQ9GzW9 ). She traveled apprx 5 miles from sitter ANGIE P's home for 17 hrs. I searched ALL evening & ALL night posting flyers on stop signs, telephone poles, asking sitters neighbors, Facebook (community, missing dog, yard sale pages)! Rover.com & ANGIE P. went to sleep while I was alone searching EVERYWHERE! So difficult to even type this story without crying. A HORRID nightmare! I'd do anything to have her tiny warm soul back. 😭💔
Rover did offer $50 for Jazzy to be cremated after I found her cold dead tangled little body on the interstate.
❓IS ROVER 20% COMMISSION WORTH THE LIFE OF MY PET OR YOURS❓ YES! Billionaire Founders Greg Gottesman, Aaron Easterly, Philip Kimmey would NEVER leave their pets w/ ANGIE P. & the multitude of sitters like her, but they let me & you. WHY? 😭 Rover states 'NOT responsible' for pets that die while in the care of a their Rover sitters walkers.
I'm so DEVASTATED, DISTRAUGHT, HEART BROKEN & DYING INSIDE. Pain NEVER EVER goes away 😭 EVER! Please! God help me! 💔
❌ ROVER DELETED / MISSING REVIEWS - You will never see my review for pet sitter ANGIE P. because Rover removed Jazzy's stay. Rover Customer Service stated 'because Jazzy technically was not alive long enough & didn't stay 24 hrs w/ Rover sitter so I can't post a review'.
❌ ROVER REFUNDED, THEN REMOVED MY PURCHASE - Maybe Brent Turner COO, Scott Porad CTO, Jason Kreitzer VP, Tracy Knox CFO who 'care for pets' would use some of their $1.9 billion NET to implement training, monitoring, management, background checking, etc. or pay for grief counseling therapy.
❌SITTER LATER DISCLOSED OTHER PETS SHE LOST - This info is NOT Listed On Site ANYWHERE. I was so mislead. Within hours of Jazzy's disappearance, Rover sitter stated that she had '2 other pets escape'. That info is missing ANGIE P.'s profile. WHY? If the reviews weren't hidden I would've never left my baby. How may other sitter's are missing reviews?
❌ROVER CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE - I did loads of research prior to Jazzy's stay with Rover & was extremely MISLEAD by the Rover app website. Unbelievable how you'll never see my story or others like mine on the ROVER.com site. There's NO WAY you can make a fair decision before leaving your baby pet with what you think is a 5 STAR qualified dog pet sitter walker.
❌ ROVER NEVER HELP ME SEARCH FOR JAZZY? I called my Rover, customer service stated 'THEY CAN NOT HELP SEARCH'. Why not? Billionaire company Rover can't help me search for my baby?? The sitter ANGIE P. walked a .5 mile radius of her home then went home to care for other pets that were alive. Two kind neighbor ladies helped search. This is agonizing to type.
💡 Since the Rover site has Hidden Statistics, concealed Death toll & misguided reviews. So I made a website 👉 RoversDirtySecret.com 👈& video in hopes to reach you & warn you before you make a decision concerning your baby. Maybe Founders - Greg Gottesman, Aaron Easterly, Philip Kimmey, Aaron Easterly, CEO, Brent Turner, COO, Scott Porad, CTO, Jason Kreitzer, VP, Tracy Knox, CFO, ALL of Rover who supposedly care for pets would use some of their $1.9B NET to inform you with statistics, post ALL reviews, implement training, monitoring, management, background checking, etc & be responsible for ALL pets while in the care of Rover.com sitter.
💔In memory of my little rescue dog Jazzy. I love you so much & I am so so sorry. 😭 God help me.

This is so sad! I’m a Rover.com sitter and would have been extremely heartbroken if that happened to Jazzy if she was in my care. I can’t imagine not treating every animal as my own! I would have looked and searched for her nonstop until she was home safe and sound. IM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THIS!!!! Rover really should not have done that!!!!!!!!

If you are a Rover sitter, then you probably have a number of clients that tried to give you constructive feedbacks via Rover's review system. Sadly it's their policy NOT to post any reviews that are less than 5 stars, or reviews that may contain any disparaging remarks.

I am going to become a sitter hopefully (If I get myself a car by then) by the end of the month. And I would treat every single dog like they were my very own. I can't understand people that do things like this. They signed up to watch and care for dogs. They should honor that commitment. Dogs aren't toys, they are living creatures.

This vid is 2 1/2 years old-but watching it now still left my heart broken for you Heather like it just happened. I can't even imagine what life has been like without your fav fur-angel. I am so sorry for your loss. I never went with rover-I found them far too greedy. I didn't need them to get my start in the pet industry. People needed to know they could trust me and that I would love & protect their fur pals like my own. I was given the towns dogs about 6 months ago and have been given the keys to the towns hounds. Plus I board, pet sit and dog walk when I am not grooming. I am surrounded by fine furry friends most of the time now. DOgs are the secret to a happy life. I am so sorry yours was so short- Did you ever look into finding a new fur angel?

Thank you for your encouragement. It means sooo much to me. 💔 You are such an angel to all those babies! Jazzy's story is to bring awareness of always double and triple checking and the horrors of when we don't. It's wonderful to hear your story and the love you bring to all of them. Dogs are such a blessing I couldn't agree more! I couldn't image life without them. I will always have rescues or really any dog. I adopted facebook.com/hairlessdoggy. His name is Pepper. Keep sharing your love!

Your video left me crying my eyes out. I am about to sign up for rover and I already made the conscious decision not to bring two dogs that do not know one another under the same roof. I can't fathom mistreating a dog and using it as a disposable cash cow. My eyes are filled with tears for you.

Thank you Ang. I had only left Jazzy with my parents and since they were going out of town the same time I was I tried Rover.com. I should have never made that mistake. All of the Rover.com sitter's reviews were all positive. The two other dogs that had escaped the sitter's care, they weren't on the site. :( I would have NEVER left Jazzy with that sitter had Rover.com disclosed the negative reviews. :( So Jazzy's dead now. I know many years from your tragic loss and I am so terribly sorry. I've boarded one of my dogs and cats before but have two really special ones (another dog and cat) that I'm concerned about boarding. One especially who is like the child I never had. I was considering Rover but now I am not so sure. Not posting negative reviews is not good. Now I see why they all have 5 star reviews. Thank you for taking the time to post this review and video which I can only imagine how many tears were shed in doing so. It won't bring your love back, but maybe in so doing you will help save even one animal from the same fate.

I always make sure I am outside with the dogs and I triple check before going outside int the back if all two gates are closed. This is just not okay and I am so sorry. Also how heartless to copy and paste an apology. This is so upsetting and I am so sorry.

Sorry you ever had to go through something like this . I lost a two of my Cats due to a living situation that did not want or liked Cats . These two Cats I had with me a long time , one traveled with me all over the country with me at a time at time when my life was not so good . I have been a very lonely person for a long time , no family around ,no significant other . Those Cats were like children to me . Furgie who I rescued when he was less than a year old in 2005 and Mousie was my Mom`s Cat when she passed away . I was really tore up when I had to give them up . I was really worried about anyone adapting them because of their age . I paid forward their adoption fees . They did get adopted . A year and a half later ,back living in my trailer I found two bonded males , very young adults on Craigslist . It seems the young lady that had them was getting transferred over seas in the military and was really upset about having to give them up ,and wanted a good home for them . I met with the lady and she was very happy they went home with me . A lot people don`t realize how important Pets are . They become part of the family and your heart . They teach you things that humans don`t realize themselves .

I am so very sorry this happened to you. I do NOT for the life of me understand HOW this person has not been removed from Rover!!! I would take care of someone else's precious pet/family member better than my own and mine are pretty spoiled!!

@OfficialHeather 4 года назад
I am still in shock Rover .com allows her to watch animals. It's the money. Just like you said about a drunk driver or a child dying while in the care of a Day Care and the Day Care is still open for business for you to unknowingly take your child there. Hopefully Jazzy's story will be a reminder for you to always double and triple check yourself. All it takes is one mistake and a heartbeat stops. I don't understand a company so concerned about money they risk other animals dying at the hands of a known careless sitter. Thank you for your precious words. It's wonderful to hear the love you have for the babies you care for. 💕

So sorry for your loss.... My experience with Rover is also terrible, but luckily I didn't lose my pet. My petsitter didn't refill my cat's water jug even though she has kidney disease and could have died (supposedly she is a "trained vet tech." lol) didn't clean the litter boxes so she was pooping on the floor, and then conveniently lost my key so I had to rekey my entire house, costing me 150 dollars! Rover? Did nothing!!! They said they were sorry, then said they wouldn't cover the expense because it's under 250 dollars which is their minimum. Then, after leaving a review, the petsitter contacted me harassing me and called me a liar, then she proceeded to say she will report me to Rover and make sure the review is taken down. After that she said she'd pay for the rekeying of my house and disappeared. I never heard from her. Rover has done nothing after numerous emails and phone calls. This "petsitter" who also threatened me say "I'll get mine" is still employed by Rover. They literally do nothing with animal abusers, negilgence or just plain irresponsible employees. The do nothing! In fact they keep hiring them out so others can leave bad reviews! I've seen many bad reviews and they just keep taking a percentage and hiring them out!!! EVIL EVIL COMPANY!

Im so sorry this happened to Jazzy. Im already a dog walker/sitter but im planning on joining Rover soon and I dont understand how people dont keep watch of dogs especially if its not their own I make sure to pay extra attention and treat dogs as the one I had and loved so much. From the other comments I know not every rover sitter is like this, I know I wouldn’t even had put Jazzy in that situation. Rover should have removed the sitters account instead of your review.

As a professional pet sitter / dog walker (never ever for horrible companies like Rover) with ten years of experience, and an all around animal lover, my heart just broke for you and Jazzy watching this and I felt so infuriated! I had a client today tell me she hired someone from Rover specifically requesting they not bring other pets to her home while he sat her dog. Well....she came home to him in her house with another large dog, and numerous CATS!?!? He told her "not to worry that he does this all the time and just rotates the animals separately from room to room." How little respect for owners let alone the animals do these people have? Can you imagine how stressful that is for those animals. How unsafe!? Because of this I went online to dig deeper into the abundance of horror stories about these awful companies. No one should ever use them. But sadly they promote convenience and lots of "choices" and undercut the pricing of professionals who have been doing this for years and actually have your animals best interests at heart. They are plain evil in how they hide/control negative reviews deceiving clients... It's horrific. Only truly bad people and companies exploit innocent animals for profit and misrepresent themselves to make a quick buck. And I wonder how many of the "sitters" posting here about how great the company is are just Rover employees doing damage control. My condolences on your loss. I know words fall short. But I appreciate you speaking up. I am sure it is not an easy story to have to relive. 💔💔💔💔💔

Thank you for your sweet words Alexa. Hi , my name is Lindsay. I’m in the same situation as Heather and Jazzy. I had a rover sitter watch my dog, Annabel. The sitter left the house and was only gone for 15 mins or so but Annabel has severe separation anxiety. She has to be near a warm body and she is fine. However, When the sitter left Annabel at home, she started barking. The sitters roommate decided to open the door and have Annabel run out the door. I guess her barking was too annoying for him. Annabel has been gone for a week. We have had temperatures in the negatives and single digits. To say I’m heartbroken is an understatement. I didn’t look into the sitters background and will blame myself for the rest of my life. I wish I would have done my research into Rover and the sitter.

Hi Heather, I am so sorry for your loss. I just happen to come around your video and it made me sick. This hits pretty close to home for me b/c I have used rover.com to help me start up my dog walking/sitting business. I take great pride in taking care of others fur-babies and it makes me sad that you've had to endure all of this pain b/c of someones neglect. Sadly I've gotten the impression from others as well I've come in contact with that some people they've used "weren't professional" or "didnt seem all in". Which is disappointing for myself and others that do use the platform as a source of work. Once again I am sorry for your lost and can't imagine the pain if I lost my little Herc this way. Thank you for sharing your story.

James I am so sorry for the loss of your baby. :( I cry with you. It appears as though #Rover is so concerned about $ that instead of appropriate screening and finding animal care givers like yourself the company hires basically anyone who 'loves animals'. Thus, you lose jobs to unqualified sub contractors when I would have easily chosen your qualified skills over someone who 'loves animals'. Jazzy did not have to die. I am so heartbroken. Thank you for sharing with me.

I wish you well on your Pet Sitting adventures. :) Rover does not implement any of their policies, so if there are no repercussions then a bad or uneducated or unskilled sitter will make horrible mistakes. Rover removed any record on the sitters page that she was supposed to care for Jazzy so I cannot leave a review. Thus, the world has no idea that this sitter was negligent and allow a baby to die while in her care. :'( www.rover.com/members/angie-p-tlc-pet-care/

Oh Heather, I am so sorry. I just happened to see this video. RIP dear little Jazzy. One of the things that I wish that all pet sitters could understand is if they have a yard, they MUST check their fencing AND if they let the dogs out in the yard, they MUST be outside with the dogs at all times!! Anyway hugs to you Heather, I know it's a few months later, but we never really get over a loss like that. Take care

I am a sitter for Rover and I was absolutely appalled to hear about what happened to your precious Jazzy. Dogs are family to me and though I've only ever lost my dogs to old age, it's absolutely heartbreaking. What truly baffles me about this is that not only did this sitter not disclose the escapes or bother to FIX THE ISSUE IN THE FENCE (common sense), the fact the she continued, and still continues to sit for small dogs that could escape through that hole is just awful. I live in a very dog friendly apartment complex with two dogs of my own and I have made sure an escape is impossible. Most sitters would never let something like this happen, myself included, and if it did, I would leave the business because I couldn't live with the guilt. I'm so so sorry for your lost. Shame on this individual. She has the death of an innocent loving dog on her hands.

I found this when doing research on pets lost by Rover.com sitters and sadly found this video. I'm so sorry for your loss of your sweet pup. My dog also escaped under a Rover.com sitter's care and was fortunately found 4 horrible days later despite eyewitness accounts he was hit by a car during his escape. Like you, I left a bad review for the sitter on Rover.com was threatened by the sitter for slander and defamation because of my review and only had her removed from the site when I went through her social media accounts and saw evidence of possible drug usage. I'm attempting/hoping to get a few other people with bad experiences with Rover for a class action lawsuit.

So heart breaking, I am so sorry, my heart breaks for you and Jazzy, as well as all pet owners who loose their beloved friend and companion. I just lost my sweet little Boston Terrier Miss Mandy, and ohhhhhhhhhh still so sad in my heart, the bond we have with our furry friends is Priceless in this world. Yes there is good in this world, and unfortunately bad, we try to trust people but sometimes that fails, I know you gave Jazzy a wonderful home while she lived, and dealing with these sitter companies is difficult for sure. This person who did not provide a safe environment for your dog and other dogs was simply negligent, uncaring, or just plain ignorant, this is why these services are a gamble! You may find a good sitter, I am sure there are some, but its taking a chance on someone you do not know, and have to go by their reviews and hope they are accurate. I dont think I will pay one cent to these services when I go and rescue my new life companion, but seek out references from my vet and the pet adoption place, or just stay home when I can and take my dog with me where ever I go, or if I have to leave her for an emergency, a trusted family friend or family member. Again I am so sorry, Jazzy was a beautiful dog, and I know brought joy to your heart and life! Thanks for sharing.

I can't say how sorry I am for the loss of Mandy. :'( I cry with you. I hope you are healing some, but I know we never truly heal from the loss of unconditional love. Obviously Mandy had the best life a fur baby could ever dream of and the same goes for you and Mandy's unconditional love for you. I was so mislead with Rover and the wording on their site 'Book trusted sitters and dog walkers who'll treat your pets like family.', I had no idea they do not implement any of their policies much less have a manager that inspects pet sitters homes or facilities. Thank you for your warm and loving words. :'(

@@OfficialHeather Your story touched my heart. The pain we go through when we loose such a special gift from God, they live such short lives and are such true companions and give us so much more in return than we give. Don't get me wrong I love people, but the time I have apart from work to spend with Chloe is better than spending it with some people, because of their devoted loyalty when we have a special bond with them. I thought I would never get another dog, and as I saw what you went through and how it hurt so much, I almost hesitated to rescue Chloe, but life goes on, we learn, and but never forget these special creatures that bring so much joy in our hearts and life. Chloe has gone everywhere with me since I got her, we went camping together, kayaking, which she loves, many long walks and hikes, and sleepy time in bed, such a snuggle bunny they are! I pray you find peace in your heart, the quality we give them is so much more than the quantity, even though we want them to be with us forever!

Thank you so much! :'( The hurt will never go away the way Jazzy was killed and Rover.com has zero management or home requirements over the pet sitter I used. To my knowledge it's the same with other Rover sitters. It's not to say all pet sitters associated with Rover sitters are incompetent. Rover never helped me look for Jazzy nor did anything except point the finger at the sitter. I wouldn't have found the Rover.com sitter if it wasn't for the Rover.com site. Rover in my situation is more concerned with receiving their commission from the pet sitters rather than the safety of Jazzy. You would have loved Jazzy so much. I miss her forever so bad. :( :( :( I hope mine and Jazzy's story saves other pets lives. Beware of Rover.com. They are never responsible if anything happens to your baby. I hate people that think they are so good that nothing could go wrong for you! We have to ruin someone's life when you went there and trusted that pet sitter. Maybe don't pick someone cheap! Take them to a kennel where they are locked in. You have spent a lot of time to go after people that work for a menial company that want to get RICH on the hard work of pet sitters and don't care!!!! I agree that everyone can make mistakes. However, Heather mentioned toward the end of the video that the sitter she chose eventually admitted to having lost 2 dogs before this situation occurred. To me, that isn't so much a mistake as it is a developing pattern of negligence. After the first dog went missing (presumably through the same hole in the fence), steps should have been taken to have the fence fixed if the sitter was going to continue to board dogs at her own home. There should never have been an opportunity for a second dog to escape, let alone a third dog. Another option would have been for the sitter to offer house-sitting and care for her clients' dogs in the clients' own homes rather than at the sitter's home where the yard environment was not secure. At least that way, the sitter would not have been responsible for easily-escapable fences etc. I too am a sitter and walker for Rover. Unlike an average person who loves animals, I have worked with them from a health and grooming standpoint for many years. I also co-own 16 dogs, 8 of which are Siberian Huskies (a breed known for being the quintessential escape artist), 3 of which are German Shepherds, and 1 of which is a sighthound mix. I take what I do very seriously. I look at a client's pet as if it is my own pet. I know there are certain things I would never allow for any of my own dogs, and so I handle each client's pet or pets with the same care and caution. I am extra cautious with client pets that are known to be shy, nervous, reactive, lacking in leash manners, or young (and so not yet fully trained). I also prefer to pet sit in a client's home, so that pets will be more comfortable, less nervous, and in an environment that the client has deemed secure enough for their own pets. There will always be risks when leaving your pets with anyone else - be it a private pet sitter or a boarding kennel. Dogs can be and have been lost from boarding kennels, mistreated, feed improper food, not taken to the vet for proper care when an injury or illness occurs in the same way that these things can happen with a private sitter. But don't shame an owner who is now living the nightmare of losing her dog due to a sitter's negligence. The life that was ruined here is Heather's, and of course little Jazzy's life was lost. Please try to remember that when commenting.
@OfficialHeather

I agree with you Ina. Rover combines well qualified sitters with a person that just 'loves animals'. So it's a lottery pick for a pet owner when using Rover.com. Rover does not have any type of accountability system to ensure who they allow to join the pet sitting service is qualified and complies with standard pet sitting codes. Jazzy and I got the Rover.com lottery pick of the sitter that just 'loves animals'. I trusted Rover's service and got the worst sitter possible instead of getting an extremely qualified sitter like you Ina. If Rover had ONLY qualified sitters and had required protocol the death and injured animals would be slim to none. I wish Rover would give me back Jazzy. I wish you much success in your animal loving career. If only every pet sitter was like you.
@InaStanley83
@InaStanley83 6 лет назад
Official Heather I am not sure how Rover handles these types of situations. I know that I just try as much as possible to provide frequent communication and updates, and keep all of the communication within the Rover app in case there are any issues. Beyond that, I try my best to use common sense. I have had clients assure me that their dogs are fine off-leash and should come right to me when called. But honestly, no one knows if that behavior will extend to someone that the dog has only just met. So guess what? Every dog that I let out for a bathroom break (if the client's yard isn't fenced) or take for a walk is kept on leash just to avoid the potential for escape. It really frustrates me that things like that aren't common sense for every sitter. Eventually stricter measures will have to be put into place to prevent things like what happened to you and Jazzy. For now, I try to keep the worst-case scenario in mind and handle my clients' dogs with prevention of that worst-case scenario in mind. And I listen to my intuition. If something doesn't feel right outside, we avoid it. If something seems strange from a health standpoint, we head to a vet. If a dog is reactive or extremely nervous, we spend some time in the home environment working on reducing anxiety before we go out in public. If I wouldn't put my own dog in a particular situation, I won't put a client's dog in that situation either. That makes for less stress for all of us.
@OfficialHeather
@OfficialHeather 6 лет назад
You are so right, you never know what that animal may choose to do. The leash is there to never put you in a horrible situation of a missing dog. Your standards are not the same standards as Rover in my case. If Rover implemented your rules with all that they take a commission from, the statistics of dead loved animals or injuries would most likely be slim to none. You make valid points. Again, why couldn't I have hit the Rover.com lottery and received you or your equivalent as a sitter. :(

From my understanding and experience with Rover.com in basic terms they are a contractor and anyone over the age of 18 yrs can become their sub-contractor (sitter). Rover.com takes 15%-20% referral fee out of each transaction. That's why they are an approx. +$100 million company. When things go terribly wrong with your pet while in the Rover.com sitter's care, like finding your dog on an interstate killed by a car, Rover.com's actions are zero. Their actions said to me .......go find your dead dog, we will not help, once you do find her with no heartbeat, you should just move on. Sickening. Remember you will NOT see any past negative reviews unless you dig for years on their site. All of the Rover.com sitters are five star just like the one that let Jazzy die on the highway. If you would like the same Rover.com sitter that allowed my little Jazzy to die you still can because Rover.com still employs the sitter >>> www.rover.com/members/angie-p-tlc-pet-care/. :( I miss Jazzy so bad. :(

If you love your pets, and care about their safety, choose a professional petsitter instead. You might spent 5 - 10 dollars more, but what is saving that extra bucks for if something bad happens to your love one. Not worth it. Companies like Rover hire their sitter without requiring certification, anyone who has a dog will be hired! That's why they re not reliable.

I don't think you even watch the video and read all the stories. Btw, are you on rover app offering a service as the sitter too? If yes, I really feel pity for your client.
