Thanks for what is for me an educational video, as all your videos are. As someone not experienced at all in metal work I am fascinated by all the tools you have. I thought it was surprising and even somewhat amusing that after using your high-tech Centronic machine for profiling the valve seats you used a stick with a rubber plunger when grinding the seats. Terrific stuff! Regarding the new LED lighting, I noticed an important effect when you were using the ring compressor, before and at 29:00 in the video. The camera image improved significantly when you approached the place where you were working. I guess it's a functional effect caused by the automatic exposure on the camera. Maybe your shadow was reducing the measured level and therefore boosting the exposure level accordingly. Perhaps you can adjust the camera exposure so the image is always improved like that.
Thanks Roy, yes some of the old tools are still just the best way. I will check the camera settings. I haven't watched the video yet but will tomorrow and look.
Great content as always James. One suggestion, for my own selfish purposes, can you film a full engine build? You have good content across different parts of the process to building an engine, but maybe do a top to bottom build??
Nice video again, but I wonder how you cut the valve seats to the same depth, or as I would think that is irrelevant....as it will be matched with the valve clearance setting ?
Hollywood your looking good in the engine build area ! Do you use titanium valves in your race engine . I watch Shrigley Tube (Andy Jones ) he specialises in Hillman Imp motors a fantastic little engine. Do you no of a channel that does the Rover v8 ? Kit from down under
Hi Kit, no I don't use titanium but I would if allowed, no I don't watch that channel, I'll have a look for it when I have 5.. not looked for a rover V8 channel, I've just started a full rover/tvr full build video
