Good Morning boss i don't believe if i asked you if started the business from scratch ? My motor i did a refresh any some upgrades on has a problem the rings will not seal , the bottom end just pressurises , oil comes out the seals and gaskets 2.5 litres of oil dumped in 40 kilometres. CP Pistons, Totalseal gaples rings honed on a Rottler hone , carby motor any thoughts for a amateur engine builder from down under . Driven brake in oil

@stujones9976 thanks for your reply, I ask my engine builder to use Total seal gapless rings I would have to check the part number to answer that question. Have not tore engine down yet .

Morning.. I started it from scratch, a small shed at home with 1 bench.. something seems very wrong there.. is one of the breathers blocked or are the rings fitted upside down

Thanks for another interesting video. I have a simple question that shows how little I know about machining. When using the lathe how do you control the depth of cut? Is it by rotating a control wheel and observing the digital display? I couldn't see in the video how you did it.

Cracking video James. I feel your pain with the manifold bolts, I have similar on my kitcar, some I changed to Allen cap screws for easier access. Interesting failure of the piston, I do like a good air crash investigation 😂 All the best.

Hi Kit, I reduced my speed and wanted to be ready to just jump out near some marshalls if I saw flames, the smoke was bad in the car.

I'm going to be a safety nazi. Ive had aluminium swarf in my eyes from using a burr on an air grinder. Please wear safety glasses, i've only got 1 good eye now. Good repairs tho, at least the old girl gets to live and be enjoyed.

Yep, you are not wrong. I was taught to tap threads in Metalwork classes when I was 12, 55 years ago. Basically, once the tap or die has got a grip, I do one full turn forwards to get going, then back off 1/2 a turn, then forwards a full turn. So effectively you are only cutting forwards 1/2 a turn at a time and are clearing the cut thread by half a turn. I have not broken a tap for donkeys years and I was doing M6 in 316 stainless yesterday to 20mm deep.

That was an enjoyable and informative video for a person like me who has never been trained in metalwork! Kudos to you for giving your customer a great cost! I respect that. 👍. Just one question: would using an adhesive be much easier than welding the insert in position? I assume that as you did not do that it might not be a good idea because of the high temperature of the combustion chamber.
