Prince the Mastiff was bought as a guard dog to keep his owner's house safe after a break-in, but he's caused more trouble than he's solved! He destroys the house and plays too aggressively, but worst of all he's a totally dependant on his owner. Can Victoria Stilwell teach them how to lead their dog and give it more confidence or will Prince continue to destroy the house in a bid to be declared it's king.

@Bo Pik What do you mean? Are you suggesting that a family cannot be good or sweet because there's not a man in the role of a father? Is this family less in anyway because of that? Have you gotten into the real world lately? Around the world, a majority of homes have a single mother as the chief, and families with a both a father and a mother as just as likely to develop various types of dysfunctional relationships, in some cases they are even more likely... I wasn't going to step in this one, but I can't stand when people put excessive value in traditional family structures, reinforcing the stigmas other types of families have put on them by others...

Mastitis love to learn new things and can be easily trained if the human doesn't get stubborn. I don't crate my dogs after about 8 months old and have never really had issues. I did let a couple of them get real spoiled and they absolutely took over the house while I was sick but soon as I was up again they soon went back to me being the boss. When you are not in control they will control themselves with their own priorities lol

@@lycidasxwerewolf some of cesars training methods arent ethical or smart. He's had cases of food aggression on his show and his method included staring at the dog and getting into their face. Which resulted in him getting bit. Wouldnt recommend most of his training advice.

rutituti678 Thank so much. We had another great day and she was smarter than yesterday. She is exactly like the Utube puppies. So much fun and playing games. So easy to train. I forget she is so young. I never expected this chance and I am making sure she gets solid basic obedience. I want her to be welcome around people and animals. It's a general trend. If a small cute looking dog annoys the heck out of family and neighbourhood, there is a good chance that a woman spoils a dog rotten. Men tend to have large powerful trophy dogs if they want to stroke their ego (or two or three ...), woman do that too, but guys are even worse to chose such dogs. That owner was at least not on an ego trip, she got the dog as "protection". The burglar was only after her property and the dog likely cost her more damage than a burglar could cause. She would have needed a small dog that is trained to give an alert when strangers come and stay at the property. And ideally that dog does not eat any food he or she finds outside.

Mines, I set it up nice and comfy. And every time it’s time to go in, I tell her to get in the cage. She goes in, but I play with her a little bit with her in it, so she doesn’t mind going in. Sometimes, she goes in on her own when she doesn’t want to be bothered.

We have a crate for our Newfoundlanddog on vacation. On a campsite there are many sounds and people so the crate is her relax place without sounds or light. We put a blanket over there and she loves going in sometimes.

Why do people go from 'let the dog do whatever it wants' to 'let's call in a top expert on behavioural training.'? There are such things as basic obedience classes for dogs. Most of the pet stores I know and pretty much all adoption centres have pamphlets for them lying around. It 'only' took him a week to destroy that work-out bench. Translation: They let him go on destroying it for a whole week! And just to top off the madness: She got a dog for home protection after a burglary, and then she crates him when she leaves, making sure that the dog would be helpless to do ANYTHING if there was another burglary.

Many dogs love to play with their mouths. Mine does it some times (very rarely now that she's older) and is very careful. I've never gotten as much as a scrape. Depends on the dog.

Yeah I have a 2 year old pit that likes to do that. Not once has he ever snapped at any human or another dog (that's the main reason we had to enroll him in obidence school. Dog gets way too amped up when hes around ANYTHING that breathes and he can be pretty damn destructive). Strangely been told by the daycare and dog trainer that my dog comes off very submissive, high arousal with alot of energy but not dominate. Anyways back to the mouth comment, my dog loves licking and occasionally sticking hands in hid mouth but never bites down. Not sure how to stop it and hes done that with the trainer we had and he wasnt concerned or even tried to get him to stop so I never cared to ask about it. Never had a dog before so I just figured other dogs typically play like that too.

What a handsome brute! He's the general shape/size of my boy and I remember when he used to be destructive when he was a puppy. Tip for new puppy owners: I tought my 5 month old puppy at age 3 months, to go into her crate on command when I say “crate time”. It’s a small trick and all you have to do it guide the puppy to the crate and give him/her a treat and say “crate time”. If you are trying to potty train your puppy by crate training, than the puppy should catch on eventually. I don’t know an average because nobody that has a dog in my family has crate trained their dog. So the time it takes depends on the dog.

The fam really rallied and did a great job with their dog, with Victoria's help. I loved the segment when Victoria pointed out about the cruelty of crating, and particularly, dragging the dog to the crate (!) :( , and- climbed in herself. They all did so much good work between the 'humping' episode, and this one..

Anyone that says "I want a dog for security purposes" should never be anywhere near a dog. Treating a dog like a weapon is why innocent people get hurt. A dog is meant to be a part of your family, not an addition to your armory.

mastiffs are such beautiful dogs but jeez do you have to know what you'r doing lol they're definitely not beginner dogs, since they're so stubborn. Easily trained and loves to train but they're kinda stubborn as a bulldog
