Thank you for doing this. One of my kids is super sound sensitive and so we watched a ton of comparison videos before choosing the Aviron. I can use it while she's sleeping 2 rooms away. She woke up because my breathing was so heavy when i was using it, not because she could hear the machine!
Great video. I own C2 and Waterrower. By the stuff what I hear above - The RP3 is the Loudest, Waterrower is the quietest and Aviron has the ugliest noise (next is the RP3). So C2 is the average. When I row on Waterrower my family hears this lke a constant flushing of the toilet and they don't like it. One member said they feel constant need to pee because of that so I don't use it that often.
I really can recommedn ear buds with active noise cancelling. I bought the Ear Fun Air Pro 3 for around 60 € and they work fine. Is is so much more fun, especially on longer rows, where the noise might be annoying.
I'm using the C2 and its volume or rather the change in volume due to the change in intensity interferes when listening to podcasts/audiobooks. When I speed up I stop hearing the soundtrack accurately. When I adjust the volume to a fast pace it is too loud when I slow down. When I listen to music the change of pace is not so important for listening comfort.
The old joke. I told my coach there was a problem with the machine, it was going whoosh, whoosh whoosh. He replied" You are doing it wrong. It should be going WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH."
Hahah! If only I'd heard that BEFORE I made this video, it would have been an opening line.... Maybe I'll use it in a shorts promo (with your permission?)
My old model b sounds like a spitfire when im putting the effort in. Shame you didnt have one of those to compare. Noise cancelling headphones and a new model d have certainly made the situation better.
Yeah, I'd have loved to have access to many more machines. But not only do I not have a house big enough - I don't think it would make for an interesting video to get to "Rowing machine number 50...." At least you have a solution.
I row on my Concept 2 6am every morning before work in the kitchen diner, while the wife and kids are asleep. Even my little fat labrador next to it sleeps through all my workouts. I always keep my chain lubed though 😉
I think by the time the noise goes through some walls, it's not that loud anyway. It's all high frequency stuff that comes off a C2 anyway, which doesn't travel as much through walls. Or the dog!! Good to hear from you.
