Ferry said he wanted to give the sound an overwhelming, "wall of sound" feel. His voice was meant to seem drowned out. After all, it's a song about feeling overwhelmed.
I have the 4 CD 💿 Boxset anthology of Roxy Music The Thrill Of It All & its a favorite in my collection. My original copy sounds fine. They were a brilliant band. The Bogus Man & The Main Thing are my favorite songs by them. Have an awesome 👌 weekend !
Bryan is a good poet. Eg, "Stay hip, keep cool to the thrill of it all", "High life exstacy you might as well live". I request a Roxy's "All I want is you" for its excellent poetry.
It is the first track on Country Life, quite the sexy tune, no? I don't hear the difficulties they have with the music. I guess I've just heard it so much, without head phones. Over forty years now, for this album.
If you want just about the best Roxy Music Livebootleg search for Roxy Music Siren In The Empire Pool here on RU-vid recorded 17/10/1975. I believe it was recorded from the soundboard so quality is amazing!!
Thank you so much for reacting to this, I really appreciate you doing it. It's an amazing track, but here sadly you're right it sounds muffled for want of a better word, which is a shame, I have a remastered CD which is far, far, better, the vinyl version was fine too. You can't even hear the backing vocals by Michael McDonald which is really bad. I think that perhaps I should upload my recording of it to RU-vid if this is the best out there presently.
Music is all a matter of personal taste. Different people like different kinds of music. The good thing about today's technology is you can listen on your own if you wish. That's what headphones are for.
Ohhh! Were he and Roxy Music performing 'Oh Yeah (There's A Band Playing On The Radio)' then? 😀 I loved that song at the time, together with The Police's 'De Do Do Do...', and both were playing on the radio on most mornings while I was having brekkie and getting ready for Skewl 😊
@@mightyV444 It was the episode of CD where they did ''Jealous Guy'' and ''Same Old Scene'' on that show. Molly interviewed Ferry, and then the band took some time to meet and greet some of the kids who had records to sign. I had my 7'' of ''Same Old Scene'', though I admit to liking ''Oh Yeah'' a lot more... All I could do was look up and smile and then blush.. he asked for my name, I told him, he signed my little record, and off he went to the next grinning little vegemite kid... That's about it!
@@liveitup67 - Nawww, how cute! "He signed my little record" ☺ And I think 'Oh Yeah' had actually already come out in 1980 🙂 And on the grammar and spelling subject: Nah, I won't point any typos out to you then - unless it's something really bad like "would of" instead of "would've"! 😅 Both your and also Hayley's spelling is great anyway, and this also contributes to your comments being fun to read 😀👍
Try a solo Bryan Ferry track When She Walks in the Room, This Island Earth (from the Bride Stripped Bare Album, not the later version) or Love Me Madly Again would be my choices from 77/ 78
Yes ! Love "Roxy Music " This one is probably not their easiest to get into ,but it is class! You mentioned that you both struggled finding any decent live music from Roxy ! There is a mini live Album called "The High Road " this is much better ! Jealous Guy [Lennon } and Like a Hurricane { Neil Young} are on this Album and IMO are better than the Original ! Cheers !
Got to say I don't know this one must be in the Eno era sounds good though. I got to know them around "Manifesto" "Flesh and blood "Avalon period probably because of my age being around 8 9 especially "Angel eyes, Over you, More than this and possibly my favourite "Take a chance with me".A big influence on "The Smiths"
You and I both. I can't even remember all the songs I requested. Most of them were cheesy pop songs from the early 80's. Just the way I like it. What songs have you requested?
@@liveitup67 - My original comment was a joke, though 😉 I was imitating someone else who's been using that phrase frequently and am not actually waiting 😄 I've been suggesting songs to C&C just like you, but Oi'm foine with them not actually being played; Much cooler to discover new (to me) Music others have suggested 😊
@@mightyV444 I might have to join you. I have a list of songs that I'd love C & C to react to. But I can't remember some of them. I think I'll try pushing Countdown stuff on to them. If they can do that Doug Mulray song then they should be able to react to anything. lol
I quite like this track but the mix is absolutely terrible. If they went back to the original recordings they might get a better sound but maybe they aren't available.
