I loved watching this entire video, no matter the length. I'm watching it 6 months after you posted it and I will say, this makes me want to make my own sampler book.

What are the different kinds of thread is there? A list please?? And what type of fabric is it for pages?
@roxycreations679
@roxycreations679 2 года назад
I used a piece of hemp for my sampler. You can use anything you like. The other base pages should be calico/muslin so they are not too thick as you will be collaging fabrics etc on top. I will put a list of threads together.

Rachel, I know I am "late in the game" in starting this stitching sampler, but I have a few questions: when you are tacking the items down temporarily what kind of tacking thread do you use??? what kind of threads do you use: I have some wools, some cross-stitch threads, and regular sewing machine threads. are there any other threads do you use.....I've heard you talk about pearl thread and others....where do you get that from??? what about the needles??? are there "special" embroidery needles??? do you use sharps or blunt needles???

sometimes linen and sometimes cotton/ Isn't linen made of cotton? My biggest issue in starting is what to embroidery on. Like could I tear up a sheet for a bed?
@roxycreations679
@roxycreations679 2 года назад
Linen is not made from cotton. Cotton is derives from the cotton plant whereas linen derives from the flax plant. Both are made from natural fibers. You can embroider on either / or it's up to you. Ripping up a bed sheet is fine.

If we are doing 1/month, don't we need 12 pieces for each page so we can stitch them back to back?
@roxycreations679
@roxycreations679 2 года назад
I prepared 8 pieces I think , just a couple extra in case I need them. Yes they will be stitched back to back.

Hi Miss Rachel I don’t no if you can give me some advice.. Iv always been a tight sewer with everything I’m trying my best to relax my hand to have looser stitches so that my sampler sides aren’t pulling.. Any advice you could give me at all..Kel
@roxycreations679
@roxycreations679 2 года назад
The only advice I can give you is after an amount of stitches stop to make sure you aren't pulling them too tight and stretch it out. I pulled mine a little. Thank you so much!

Hmm. The book I thought I’d use is roughly 12cm by 18 cm. I’m concerned about leaving myself with pages that are too small. Perhaps I should ferret out a larger book.
@roxycreations679
@roxycreations679 2 года назад
It depends how much work you feel you want to do. My first book I showed you is smaller than that. A larger book would give you more room to play.

Why don’t you stick some of the pages together and fill with stuff ,save destroying the book?
@roxycreations679
@roxycreations679 2 года назад
I don't see it as destroying the book that I saved from mold and damp and was falling apart. I see it as giving it a new life. Different way of seeing things. I also don't pull apart books that are in prestine condition just those that are falling apart that no one is interested in.
