Hi Sarah! Lovely job on your finished title page, and the tab is a great bonus piece! Thank you for showing us newbies the process for laying out the background fabrics and stitching them into place. That is very helpful. TFS Unfortunately, I don't have any vintage fabrics or laces to work with at this time. Hopefully during the next weeks some will come my way. Does anyone here have an abundance of vintage fabrics & laces that they would be willing to share with a newbie? Possibly Happy Mail? Please reply here if so. Thank you in advance. Happy Stitching! Samantha

Thanks so much 😊 If you don't have old stuff, you could always dip fabric and lace in tea as they helps to give it an older look. You can even rip up old sheets and clothes to use. The background on my title page is an old sheet.

Sweet Sarah, What a lovely tutorial! I especially love how you and Rachel approach the same general task in such different ways! You have the a semi developed final project in mind, adapting the background to that; Rachel has a less visionary approach, but understands the elements she needs and what she doesn't need competing in her spaces, rather intuitively. Your different approaches are so inspiring, as a "newbie" trying to find her own style. Thank you for sharing! Loved the spool of textiles. What a perfect gift for a slow stitcher!!! Best wishes and thank you for taking the time to do this class. Brenda

I bought 6 large bobbins for £8 last year full of cotton. I made 1 stitched reel for myself and have been using the cotton on projects as there was 3 different thicknesses of cotton's. Now you have given me the idea to use them for storing my special bits of linen on. This was a purchase that keeps giving. I only wanted 1 of these but ended up them all. Thank you eBay!!?!!!!!!

Your cover page is so good. I love the vibrancy of the colors you’ve chosen. The tab is beautiful…..just a bit of something very special. Love your bunny. I was going to stamp mine, but I might give a go at trying to draw something simple. I haven’t ever done canthus stitching but love the look and texture it give the fabric. I may have to do a combination of your sample and Rachel’s. Thank you so much for this project.

Hi Denny- I bought my Painters Threads is a thread shop here in Sydney called The Crewel Gobelin. The best thing to do would be to search for them online and see if you can find a stockist in the country where you live as that is probably going to be most cost effective.

Me again. May I ask what size you have cut your title page, and also what size you chose for your inner page (that you will mount later on pages within).

My pages that I am working on are 7" tall and 5" wide. My book pages which are folded in half are 7"tall and 10" wide. They fit nicely in my book.

Hi Sarah, could I ask, for the pages that we stitch the piece to, are there 2 piece stitched together with the sample on either side (if that makes sense) xx
@roxycreationsbysarah
@roxycreationsbysarah 2 года назад
Hi Carol, so the base book page is double your block size so you will end up stitching 2 blocks to each page. You can stitch two pages together with a block on each page to make it nice and sturdy. This is what I will probably be doing. I am going to show this in a video in a couple of weeks

? I DO A LOT of stitching BUT not were you collage fabric to a base . Is the base a ways totally covered or is parts naked ?, and do all your bits get pinned down first than sewed or can 1 bit sewn on at a time. New to slow stitching. Thanx for any help.
@roxycreationsbysarah
@roxycreationsbysarah 2 года назад
I tend to cover my whole base as it's a pretty simple fabric that I am using and quite thin. If you had something nicer like a lovely linen, you wouldn't cover it all. There are no set rules- you just go with what you like the look of. We both covered our whole base fabric. Rachel basted her pieces and I pinned mine, before stitching. Yes you could absolutely sew on 1 piece at a time. I have stitched on one piece at a time but all my fabrics were pinned in place. I hope that this helps 😁

I asked about how the the individual pages will be put together to make a book… do I need to leave space on the sides?
@roxycreationsbysarah
@roxycreationsbysarah 2 года назад
My pages that I am working on are 7" tall x 5" wide. My book page that I am folding in half is 7" tall x just over 10" wide so that when I fold it in half it will be just slightly wider that my blocks that I have created. Hopefully this makes sense.

@@roxycreationsbysarah so then the individual pieces will be attached to a backing piece of fabric eventually?.. I can picture that just not how they will be bound together without losing any of the stitching.. sorry I seem slow to get that piece🥴

I just wanted to mention how confusing it can be for some, if everyone is doing their own thing so to speak some peoples videos are not on same step as you and rachelle and also you kind of glossed over the attaching the title page to other page etc. I can/could figure it out but some others were wondering why you were working on title page (I know you wanted to put tab on) hopefully no one feels they have to follow you and your sister verbatim .it can’t be expressed enough that it is a do your own thing, to be followed loosely and if you don’t want to get frustrated don’t watch too many of others videos. This is just based on my opinion and what a couple others have told me.
@roxycreationsbysarah
@roxycreationsbysarah 2 года назад
Well..... I am sorry that you are finding this confusing. The slow stitching that we are doing is intended to be personally creative. There is no pattern that comes along with this style of stitching and the concept is that everyone will make their own unique pieces based on what they like. I feel like we have made it clear many times, that this is your own journey and we are simply giving instructions on simple skills and different options that you may or may not like to try. There are other people following the project and making videos as well as sharing photos on other social media platforms. We are totally fine with this and are actually enjoying seeing what everyone is doing. If it is confusing, seeing the different videos, perhaps just watch Rachel's and mine as it may become more clear. You are correct that I haven't shown people how to attach the title page yet. That is something that we have planned to show in a few weeks once the first block is nearing completion. I showed my title page to give an update on my progress from what I had previously shown.
