Yay, we have our first background and embellishment! I love that this is slow paced, it gives us plenty of time to make our creations without feeling rushed. There are a lot of talented people out there and it’s hard not to be intimidated by them,but love your encouragement for us beginners! You have the prettiest vintage lace pieces💓 I’m trying not to purchase too much, trying to use what I already have.🪡🧵

My absolutely first slow stitching and I watch both videos and what other do. I haven’t done all my samples yet..Christmas, family and kids..but I sit every evening with all my sewing stuff and I really love it. It is a bit difficult and I am sewing very slow..hi hi 🤣 slow stitching..maybe I am on my right way..thanks for showing all the details 👍😀 Tina Denmark 🇩🇰

You had me all teary today, my girl. My mum had basting thread in her stash- now mine. It’s older than you are , from when we lived in Germany. And she always left some in the garments she made.🥲 If you’re going to invest in an heirloom monthly block, basting is a must in my opinion. I want to her cracking but not enough to dump my sleeping grandson off my lap.Might get to watch Sarah’s in a timely fashion! You are listening to your friend in his distress. It’s a tough one for sure. He obviously needs you and your husband but you can’t afford to add his stress to yours. Bless you both for your kindness.

I know this is one of your older videos but I want to do this! I’m new to junk journaling but have quilted for over 30 years. So I have lots of fabric. I’d love to learn to incorporate in journals. My head is spinning. I keep scraps because I sew them together randomly and then size down to 10”. We call it crumb quilting. I always hand quilt so I’m going to love doing this medium. I’m going to have to find the beginning of this series. Happy new year!

Great to see how you put the background together. It is absolutely like collage, so that helps me understand the process. Still working on my title page and this really helped me finish the design of that. My daughter gave me one of those irons for Christmas so excited to use it. So excited to get started on my background. I love that the first page has vintage lace. I have a beautiful linen lace that was my grandmother’s I can’t wait to use. It has to be over 100 years old. Still on the original cardboard from when she purchased it.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 so excited. I have a bunny that mum bought in the early 50’s I think it’s going to finally have a home. Tacking was one of my mums must’ She was a tailorist and when teaching me to sew would say tack it and I’d cringe 😬 now I’m doing it all. Thanks for doing this Hugs Janette ❤️

Loving this I'm remembering forgotten things, use it or lose it they say. As you were removing your basting I remembered why is good to start in the center and stich in an outward radiating way. Easy to remove. Comes in handy if you're doing a large quilt.

Yay! I'm so excited to see it start!I am so glad you came back to cover that corner bit, it was driving me crazy too! I dud purchase a couple packs of doily bits and pieces on Etsy because I have nothing like that, but I have a rainbow of gallon bags of fabric bits. I used to sort them by color because I made strip quilts. So I have plenty of bits to play with. I'm clapping my hands over here🙂

Try a diluted pva glue instead of basting pins. Just little dots here and there. Let it dry for ease of sewing.

I am trying to work out the size of the fabric page we will be stitching it onto to go into our journal .
