Bit of criticism of Justin here. It's a post Coltrane world. Energy, attack, groove. Justin is as lyrical as the next maestro when the clouds part. Love these guys.

Could you not argue that this is wildly different from the stuff Coltrane was playing on? I feel like Justin’s energy matches the style and groove of the song well with his somewhat frantic but also lyrical style.

I agree. It may be a matter of personal taste but I don't hear melody, soul or anything other than running some scales in the shed. Yeah he can do it, but if you are wondering why jazz has a small audience, here's why.
