Nothing angers me more when people discredit him because he didn't do as well at Liverpool and England, but completely forget he took Fulham from a relegation certainty in 2008, to European football in 2009, to a Europa league final in 2010. For me it's one of the most underrated football stories in English football.
I think he was a lot better at taking smaller clubs to a higher level, which is why it never worked out at Liverpool and England. I will never protect what he did at England because it was disgraceful but the FA should never have given him the opportunity after the 2014 world cup.
Brilliant team. Grew up supporting Fulham for the American connection via Dempsey, McBride, Bocanegra, and now Ream and Hyndman. Thank you for bringing back the memories of a remarkable team to an American kid enjoying the beautiful game for the first time.
Even If Roy Hodgson turns England into the worst footballing nation in the world he will always be to me the greatest Fulham manager ever. Forever a legend. Desperately unlucky not to win Europa League but the boys did us proud. Having nearly been relegated just over a season earlier I don't think any fan wold have dreamt of us even competing in the Europa League.
He’s an outstanding manager for Fulham but when he came to manage the 3 Lions, he needed the sack. Glad he’s gone because England’s 4th in the FIFA rankings. Fulham on the other hand...not so much.
I dont care what people say, everytime I watch this, I cry! What Hodgson did to our Fulham was litterarely magic! Europa League Finals ffs noone would ever even give that as much of a thought! God how I miss those days and if I could I would turn back time to re experience those matches! And look at us now, a club in total mess, with a owner and board that has no clue whatsoever on what they are doing. An unisnpired club with no motivation or as much as a spark of positivity right now. :( I still believe, but the hope and belief is hanging in such a thin thread right now........... pleas dear God of Football, pour som magic dust on Khan and the board so they can rebuild our team properly!
WTF did Hodgson go to Liverpool? Had he won the Prem 4/5 times there, he would've been only recognised as an "also-ran." It's all been done so many times there before, but had Hodgson won something at Fulham, they would have built a statue of him - as this video kind of suggests. Not such a wise man after all.
That Juventus game will always have a special place in my heart, I must have been 12 at the time and to see what Fulham did and to see how the supporters reacted that made me realise Fulham was for me and I don't care where we are at the moment after we wouldn't be Fulham without a few failures here or there COYW
People never understand the need for a solid core in the team, experience and talent is key with Fulham hangeland and Hughes at back, Murphy and etuhu in mid and Zamora up front
I remember joining the fulham bandwagon back in these years. Gera, Dempsey, Duff, Etuhu, Zamora and a solid backline. This was a really well built team.
I remember being on holiday, watching Final Score after the Reading match, and the pundits going through the relegation run in. Fulham weren't even considered. When they looked at Birmingham, they went "they have Fulham, that could be crucial, but Fulham will be down and out by then."
Always have been always wil be a fulham fan. Fulham till i die. Was at the final i cried when it was over only 4 mins from penalties and i believe that we would have beaten them. Roy hodgeson forever in fulham fans heart
Greeting from Ferencvaros TC Zoli Gera is one of our Legends! We hope he will finish his Carrier with Fradi! I was screaming so hard watching the match against Atletico and was SOOOOOOOO Pissed fucking Forlan wanted to "Kill" him and everyone he knew! lol! My Daughters and Wife taught I went fucking Crazy! Zoli Gera the Emperor!
what a team we had. for me, and i dont no why, but zamora will always be my favourite fulham player ever. he didnt have speed, didnt have amazing skills and class but boy when u needed a goal he was always there always working for the team winning firat ams second balls plenty of assists . him and demps....... LEGENDS
it's a huge shame whats happened to this club. went to the cottage last week and there's empty seats, no noise and no passion. hopefully things will change and Fulham will make it back to the top flight one day
Still hate forlan and atletico Madrid to this day, Fulham defeated the reigning champions of the Europa league, the bundesliga champions an an Italian giant to get there. They deserved to win it!
Jol never did, al Fayad lost interest he even admitted it and that meant he didn't put the money in and as Jol lost all his best players Dempsey, Dembele etc. He was never able to build a team
formulacountdown Dempsey said he wanted to play in champions league and tottenham was a chance, Zamora wanted more money that Al Fayad didnt want to pay and he said that was one of teh main reasons he sold fulham because players wages so he didnt fall out with them
God what a fucking amazing few years this was, remember doing most of these with my dad. Missing days of year 11 to go to Europe and watch Fulham, magical.
That team, the Europa League season, fought with so much heart and so much confidence against teams with much more experience. I loved every minute of it. From a FulhAmerican screaming FTID! COYW!
Shivers watching the games back from Europa who would have thought little old Fulham getting to the final massive achievement we couldn't have done any of it without that great man Roy 👏👏👏⚫⚪⚫⚪
Fantastic memories! It was a special time. Remember that night on the Thames against Juventus. It will live with me forever as one of the greatest sporting moments I have ever witnessed. Happy times. Thanks!
Watching this brought a tear to my eye, wish i could have travelled the 12,000 miles my Step Dad clocked up watching Fulham in the Europa League. Still, special memories.
Not a Fulham fan, but that season with them in Europe was an absolute joy, Can remember watching the Juve game on the tele box and Dempsey with that sensational finish.
Roy ‘got’ Fulham and with Lewy put a real spring in the step of the fans. Marco and his team ‘get’ Fulham also , I see it day in day out as a staff member, you never know , it could all happen again …..
Sends shivers down my spine to remember those times, thank you Roy for everything you did for us, you and that team will live forever in the memories of every Fulham fan.
I know What a fuck is that? One team should only be able to enter one ,League Cup! If they're out of the champions league they can go play Golf! But no they can enter the UEFA Cup,where some of the Teams had to go trough 2-3 Qualifiers! And than some Champions League ''rejects" with 11;players each worth 20 million euros plus jumping ahead of them! Remember when Barca played krakow in the UEFA Messi's 1 yr salary was more than all of Krakow's players and staff's salary together! System is Shame
