Big loss to the world of comedy. Roy was a top British comedian back in the 60s and 70s. Have always loved the old musical hall comedy humour, particularly Max Miller! Probably one of Roy's favourites.

Barry Cryer died just a few days ago; a sad loss to comedy. His introduction was bloody funny - "ask him where his emu is" and "arguably the funniest man in the country". Two comedy legends together. Roy Hudd was on TV and radio a lot when I was at school, and he was always very entertaining- never disappointing.

A fine performance as Harold Atterbow, the organist in "Lipstick on your Collar", with a total fixation for Sylvia Berry [ Louise Germaine}, the young blonde cinema usherette with a hard army hubby.

This man drives me up the wall he thinks he knows everything about the golden days of the Music Hall he was born in 1936 so what does he know only what his read or been told such a big head and brags about having worked with the great Max Miller when the great Max was nearly at his end of his career.Watched a a clip on here at an Al Bowlly meeting was rubbish t as a collecter of Britsh Music Hall and recordings on 78s from 1900 to 1940s i think i know as much as he does.

Whilst I agree that Roy is relatively young, surely he's allowed to show an opinion and he is well known unlike your good self sir. He remarked upon Will Hay (my late father's favourite comedian). Well, he never met Will but his appraisal was good, "The best sketch comedian ever". He was just 13 when Will died. We need people like Roy to promote the great music hall comedians from the 20s/30s/40s like Max Miller. I'm a mere boy at just 60 next year.

I just watched a video where a Buddhist monk said Roy Hudd was driving through London when he had a spontaneous recollection of having been a music hall star. Well, I don't suppose that's likely to impress you. I don't disbelieve it at least. Apparently, when he talked about it, it led to him not getting any more TV work because the head of ITV was a devout Catholic and didn't approve - or so the story goes, anyway.
