@@francishegarty8087 nunn was miles better than tarver tarver only beat a depleted jones when tarver lost all that heavyweight weight coming down from the rocky fight he fucked up too
Do you have to be that supportive and biased towards Jones? This Guy Del Valle was ordinary, who won this WBA LHW Title after beating an even lesser talented Edy Smulder, for the Vacated Title after it was stolen from D Michalczewskis. Jones was toying with the idea of fighting Buster Douglas, earlier this year, for a Meaningless, Mickey Mouse HW Title. His Father put him off the idea, just as well, considering how easy Del Valle decked him, and it wasn't a fluke or slip, if this was Douglas, he may have KOed him for good.
@@francishegarty8087 your response is so dumb its,not that deep the facts are in the video and in my statement smh you just want to sound like your saying something and actually saying nothing
@@CS-pk1nr Your saying if Jones didn't slip, he wouldn't have been knocked down right? You are discrediting Del Valle for a legitimate Knock down, which it was. It you want to have a legitimate debate with me about your hero Jones and his cheating and disgusting carry on, in 98, fair enough. Del Valle, as I've said earlier, was ordinary, he knocked Jones down legitimately, accept this and move on, don't be making excuses for him.
In the Winter of 98, Jones held 1 Title, his WBC LHW Strap. He informed the WBC, he wanted to fight Buster Douglas at HW, for a Mickey Mouse Title he held, I'm not even going to waste my time telling you. The WBC, put his vacated Title up for grabs, Rocchegianni beat Nunn by Split Decision. Jones took some months off in preparation for his meeting with Douglas, and was put off the idea by his Own Father, who expressed fears for him. The WBC, 3 months after Rocchegianni had legitimately become New WBC LHW Champion, would strip him of his Title after Jones came crawling back like a Spoiled Child, cheating and disgusting behavior by both of these. Rocchegianni would win over 30 Million dollars in 2003 against this disgusting and cheating WBC Organization, who should have been struck from recognition entirely for their cheating ways.
it definitely was awkward for roy to fight a southpaw, even tho he went to southpaw for some of the fight, there were just so many punches missing all over the place, great fight, lou fought hard, got a knockdown, but roy just out boxed him most of the fight
And while Larry Merchant is explaining why he was "highly critical" of DelaHoya switching to a south paw stance and criticizing Roy for doing it Roy was busy landing some beautiful shots from the position. Did anyone bother to tell Larry the BS artist that DelaHoya IS left handed and that a ton of fighters do that because it is a viable tactic that allows for your lead hand, which most shots come from, to land at a significant rate with power? Fucking HBO and Larry merchant are a scar on boxing.
Unless a fighter loses a fight nobody has any right to criticize him especially a Larry Merchant. With that said, where Merchant is coming from is an old school boxing philosophy that its better to concentrate yer focus on becoming as close to perfect as you can in one stance coz its impossible to be as perfect in two stances & at the top level of boxing which is where Jones Jr was at its the finest of fine margins, the tiny percentages that separate the good from the great, the winners from the losers & the healthy from the incapacitated. Merchant wasnt necessarily wrong in wat he was saying but he never fought at Jones Jr level, he never trained or cornered anyone at that level n therefore he never earned the right to talk that way during a fight about a fighter who up until that fight had never taken a beating or displayed any lack of tactical knowledge along the way to winning his 3 world titles at that point in his career. I wasnt a fan of Merchant, Im not a fan of Kellerman or any so called expert who has no hands on experience of the level of fighting or any other sport hes commentating upon, especially if hes gonna be critical. Ya gotta earn yer stripes n earn the right to speak that way.
jiggy diggy i know but he got rocked and dropped bro of course Lou got beat roy is maybe the best ever overall but his chin was his weakness. This was the first time it got exposed
Great fighter but outclassed and outgunned calzache. Would of been great to see a prime Jones against a prime calzaghe. Same result but better fight. Calzaghe never lost for a reason. Jones made many mistakes but got away with it due to fighting bums in his home country. He got found out later in his career and was subsequently bludgeoned into submission on a number of occasions. Jones should have really retired after being knocked out the first time. Still got him in my top 20 though👊🏽
I give calzaghe props for his win over roy. I felt roy still had enough in the tank to beat him even late in his career. If roy fought calzaghe the same way he fought Jeff Lacey he could've got the W. Calzaghe made it tough for roy to let his hands go he deserves credit for that. But! I cant see calzaghe beating roy in his prime not even close. Calzaghe said this himself lol that he would have a rough time with roy. Let's not pretend calzaghe dont have a bunch of tomato cans on his resume as well. If calzaghe really wanted that fight he would've came to america and made the fight. At that point he haven't done enough to dictate any terms. To be honest calzaghe ducked roy back then.
Man Roy was ight........ Roy stop using the basic fundamentals jab foot work at times head movement hands down He did do all those things at same it wasnt enough he just start relaying on talent & his KO punch Like this fight here Roy pose 2 been KOd this guy or had light Skin dude look so stupid My thoughts.........
