This is as close as you're going to get to a sign of respect from Keane. He respects Fergie massively for the manager he was, but also won't allow his single-mindedness to forget what he seen as a betrayal when Fergie got rid of him. He is understandably bitter at the way he was treated, and how it all unfolded. Roy Keane gave his heart and soul to Manchester United, and no fan will ever forget that. Genuine legend

Irate Primate yes but he’s forgetting that is what made the manager so great he kissed cantona ares when he needed him when he didn’t gone no friendship he kissed Roy’s when he needed him then fucked him off when he didn’t that was one thing we never had at Liverpool a bit to nice . Remember Ferguson trying to stick up for cantona kicking a fan in the chest than when he ban was up playing him

In my opinion he's the best captain United's ever had we won't see his like again. His driving of his teammates and his will to win was unbelievable. Some people might not like him as a person and that's fine, but nobody can question what he brought to the club. The semifinal against Juventus in 1999 is a prime example he got booked and knew he was out of the final, that would've seen some players fold, but not Roy, he put on a masterclass of what being a captain meant and inspired us to get us through to the final, that speaks volumes for the guy.

Credit to him for getting promotion for a Sunderland team on the verge of administration. He kept a poor Ipswich up. I don't think you can quite judge him on assisting Martin O'Neill as manager as he couldn't over step his mark. He'll defiantly get another mangers job but I don't think mentality of modern day players would resonate with his leadership.

This man is an incredible example of how to keep your head in the game, and not to get distracted by the money, fame, etc. Not one to get a different hairstyle every week, not one to be too laid back, he would always play the best game he could and during training, keeping it serious. Roy Keane is part of the golden gen were it was all about the game. The game is what players today need to focus on... rather than social media status and their looks and thus adding more to their egos. Massive respect to Roy

Listening his voice and his facial expression saying “the look on Fergie was like a dagger in your heart for letting him down” shows how much this club and the manager meant to him. Players now just go after money money money...who truly plays for the club...sad reality. This is football back then. That was real and now it’s not football at all. Just bunch of gold diggers who love football not the club.

Yeah, forgetting that he moved on a big money transfer to United himself. I mean everybody is so blind to the fact that it was still going on in the 90s. But apparently those were the good old days when players just cared about playing. Bullshit. Relative to the time, all of these guys moved for big money at the time. So enough with this, back in the day it was also pure, it’s nonsense

@@conors4430 He moved because Forest were relegated that season and he could look for a move elsewhere, it was in his contract. And of course every player wants to look for a good wage, look after themselves and their family but he paid back what he earned with his consistent performances. Nowadays, put in a couple of good performances and play like dogshit for the next 10 games and it is acceptable to the club, somehow. Players back then had pride, now it is all about how to get the most fame.

What an incredible man, leader and captain. He may not have handled himself with integrity since he left Utd, but it’s great to listen to the actual admiration and respect he had for SAF and I’m sure SAF feels the same about Roy whatever is said in books or publicly. The two men were the cornerstones of Utd’s success. If we had half the man Keane was as a captain our team wouldn’t have the shocking standards it has now

Roy Keane is one of the most interesting pundits to hear from, especially when he talks about his time as United captain and Fergie. Shame that their relationship is what it is now. I hope one day they can begin speaking again - even if they never were close in terms of a friendship it would be nice to see that they’re back on talking terms. What a duo for United they were.
