Several years ago I was talking to my sweet beautiful 72-yr-old Mom. She was 16 when I came along so, as a child, I listened to her music. I made some comment about Roy being so talented even though he was blind. My Mom said, "baby, Roy wasn't blind, he just wore sunglasses. :-) There will never be another Roy Orbison or my Mom. @Sonny Dean yep 👍 Roy Orbison was one of a kind.. I read that he had severe stage fright and wearing sunglasses kept him hidden from people and he was able to go on stage. That's why a lot of people thought he was blind.

Fun Fact for both SP, WH, and just in general: Roy Orbison did not make this song, even though he recorded it. Its still not his song. It was actually made by a man named Stephen Foster that written, played, and released it in 1864. One year left till the Civil War ended.

Also another one for people who wants to know about Stephen Foster: Stephen Foster, ( 1826-1864) considered the father of American music. He died in January of 1864 when he fell ( some say in a drunken state) hit his head and suffered a gash on his head and neck. He was taken to a run down hospital and died shortly after. His wife and daughter had left him in 1863. All that was found in his pockets was 38 cents and a torn piece of paper that most believe contained the title of an upcoming song. Beautiful Dreamer was published posthumously.

I love this song. My mother loved it very much. I used to bring my keyboard with me sometimes when visiting her. One day in January 2020, I visited her with my keyboard. I played this song for her, over and over again, along with "O Beulah Land, Sweet Beulah Land". We had a wonderful time. This was the last time we got to see each other. A week later, she passed away into heaven. Shortly after that, one of my sisters also went to Jesus. They both are sadly missed, but we look to the day when we'll be joined together again.
