I love this song. My Dad use to sing it to my Mom in the 80s. Sadly, she passed away in 1993 from cancer. He stayed a widower and never loved anyone like my Mother ever again. It’s a really sad thing, but at the time…when I was a kid, even I knew at that age it was a very beautiful thing they had ♥️
Roy's music is timeless and induring, it has stood the test of time .A classic only because his music's embraces such a sweet pure honest love spoken so eloquently!!!! What do think?I can only imagine in my wildest dreams
Never got the privilege of seeing him live, but I did at least get to see Roy Orbison's Corvette at the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky. It felt a little like being in the presence of a sacred relic.
Can't believe you millennials only know this song from that movie "NERVE" when you all should appreciate his entire music career he has done. He was going through alot of stress towards his death when this song was about hit the charts at the time. RIP Roy Orbison.
Roy worked with Jeff Lynne, George Harrison, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan on the Traveling Wilburys. First sessions. Talk about a supergroup. It was insanity. Roy passed away right after recording. They just had a “ghost” singing Roy’s parts in the video for “End of the Line.”
I'm 27 and grew up on all this especially roy orbison, my dad always loved roy orbison, it's now imprinted into my DNA, cant beat it, now my 1 year old son loves this song 😊😍
I didn't know Lynne was involved in this, and just this time listening to this I could have sworn that little "dih dih dididih doo" part sounded Lynnesque
He had a 4 octave range. Frankie Valli had a 3 1/2 octave range. Both incredibly talented singers, both had tragedy hit their lives with the loss of children, both icons of their time.
You have to realize that this performer is one of the best of the time period in which he performed. Beautiful operatic resonance and clear enunciation. Too bad he died so young.
He died far too young over 30 years ago, but he had more talent in his little finger than any of the so called 'stars' of today. He was a musical genius and his his songs will last forever.
The Traveling Wilbury co-stars felt soooo lucky to have him in their band! Heavyweights Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Tom Pet ty all looked up to him! Respect! RIP, Roy
Big musicians of the day back in 87 were falling over each other to play and sing BACK UP for Roy! Elvis Costello, K.D.Lang, Bruce Springsteen, etc. ELVIS was once asked if there was another singer he admired and The King replied without a moments' hesitation: "I WISH I could sing like Roy."
I swear his voice is producing two different tones at the same time, which gives Orbison a unique sound we enjoy, but can't quite describe. I hear a high note and a mid range note being produced simultaneously.
Roy Orbinson est le chanteur que je ne peux mettre dans aucune une catégorie Autre que La PERFECTION, car il FUT LE DIEU DE LA VOIX pour ma mère, et l’est pour depuis mes 4 ans …😢
There will never be another man in this world that can sing or even come close to sound like him, I'm so very grateful that I was alive to be able to really deeply get into his sound and soul 💖
That voice sends shivers down my spine. Beautiful song and the greatest voice. 2:07 when he hit that note, everyone in music might as-well have retired.
Thank you, Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra-ELO), for producing and co-writing this Gem with one of your Music Hero Roy Orbison. Jeff called Roy and convinced him to record again.
@@jennytressler978 it’s quite calm and warm out here and amidst the hassle I’m glad to say I’m safe on here. You seem like a very interesting person and I would love it if we could text some more off here and get acquainted.
Roy Orbison inspired so many artists, but none could ever match his beautiful voice and high range. He truly is one of a kind and missed even to this day.
Elvis was called the King, but you are listening to the King from the late 1950's until his death on December 6, 1988. Nobody's singing voice could compare with Roy Orbison's during his way too short of a life. Great Post, thanks.
The only other performer I can think of to equal his singing skills was Freddie Mercury, but in a different genre of music. Both probably rocking together in heaven ❤
I had almost forgotten that I listened to this song over and over again in the 80s. My favorite song. Elton John is a genius in singing and songwriting. ❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing God? That´s a joke, isn´t it? If there´s a God then it was that very same God who killed Roy´s first family and himself much too soon. That´s not amazing, that´s sadistic and evil.
Music can be so powerful it transports you back to a past you once knew. You close your eyes and listen and instantly the time machine of sound transforms into a time, a place, those you loved and lost. Your filled with the most powerful nostalgia of joy and sadness all at once. If only you knew at that time just how special that particular moment was. That moment that felt so ordinary that was going to become so memorable in time to come.
He had a voice that the music and lyrics joined together He had a voice that naturally became him with the music. His voice was one with his music No one came close to his voice. He was and still is the number one singer . And always Forever. !!!!!!
George Harrison said he loved Roy Orbison's voice. When they were recording together and doing the video for "Handle With Care", George Harrison said he would get tingles from that voice.
Yes and also don't forget the great Jeff Lynne, he was a HUGE admirer was also in awe of Roy's voice! He even stated that his 3 biggest influences were The Beatles, Roy Orbison, and (surprisingly enough) Del Shannon.
@@davinboardman4387 Not Surprising at all. Del Shannon released Lennon McCartney "From me to you" before anyone in America ever heard of the Beatles. I have that on a '45 rpm single. not something you can "Runaway" from.
Sorry for your loss Michele, this amazing era of a legend will always echo your father's presence. Only because you're old man knew a musician like this will always live on in our lives. Peace out and if there's anything you want? You got it......
Me. I just wrote (too) extensively a’ propos of “only the lonely “ . But could somebody tell me if that’s Daryl Hall accompanying him in the background?
May of 1989 we were driving back to Fort Worth from San Antonio. We were caught in a hailstorm around San Marcos and had to pull over. I was not quite 11 years old so it scared me to death. When we turned the car back on this song was on the radio. It was so soothing and comforting. I’ve never forgotten that.
