I remember it's been there a very long time since mid 1990's mostly Chinese people used to stay there the lack of hotel security would worry me.

NIce ships and lighthouse! I like it. The 'A-One The Royal Cruise' IS HUGE! Beautiful inside, and yes, so spacious! It takes up Soi 3 and 2. Wow, never knew about this one. I found its website, and one room was going for $49 a night, so your 1500B is a good value. The model inside the glass case of the hotel looked great. Incredible. Love the room ... the 6-pack of Heineken looks tempting! Excellent video, Eddy. Yes, loved those plastic gloves. ;-)

thanx for the review Eddie I'm heading to Pattaya for 4 nights in March with my Thai wife as an anniversary treat and was thinking of this place . having looked online i can book the same room for £34 add £3 for us both to have breakfast . Great review Eddie, I've walked past a thousand times and never been in, mind you, I won't be staying there, many cheaper options with all the same aminitities availble . Happy travels Eddie.

Used to be four or five thousand a night a few years ago but obviously prices much lower for the last couple of years. The A-One has four properties around the same place. You walked right past A-One Resort and A-One Star on the other side of the road and then there’s A-One Royal Cruise and A-One New Wing (first reception you went into) at the back. A-One Resort is the nicest property.

I have booked the A1 cruise hotel for my 1st night SHA+ in April so the timing of your video could not have been better for me

I didn't know which hotel to book in Pattaya but after watching this I looked on Web sites & booked 9 nights including breakfast for 2 for AU$560. I guess that's roughly £280. Great timing of this video for me. Cheers

Hi Eddie. Another interesting video. Showing another large hotel. But for me. The best hotel and location at a reasonable price is the Areca Lodge Hotel in soi dianna. Minutes from LK metro complex of bars and gogo bars. And soi bukouw. And always stay in the areca building at the front by the front pool. In a deluxe room. With pool veiw. The middle building is Corona. And the back building ie Evergreen. I have stayed 5 times at Areca Lodge. Guest friendly too.keep up the good videos. Cheers. Jim.😉👍

could never...if I went out and got drunk I'd NEVER be able to find my way back to my room. Might walk off half the drunk tho...staff would find me wandering around, sober, as the sun came up :)

Watched them building that back in day, used to go in there for the pool and food in the day and the buffet at night, lovely food.

Thanks Eddie...I always wondered about this place, but (like you) I assumed it was too expensive. The location is great, (low noise). In normal times, I don't like to be near all the bar noise & partying. Soi 2 or 3 is perfect. IMHO, the BEST pool in Pattaya is the Amari (used to be the Marriott) Hotel. Worth a visit. It has a Swim Up Bar. Little private jacuzzis around the pool. I know you're not a pool person, but it would make for a good video. It's a 5 star Hotel, but the prices may be soft now. The pool entrance is next to the shopping mall facing Beach Road. Only a block from Walking Street. The high rise section has water views & balconies above the 10th floor. Great place to take a special lady.

That A ONE hotel has more wings than a Red Baron. ;-] Great price for what appears to be a VERY nice hotel. ;-] We also always assumed it was too dear but covid prices are deceiving to what they will normally be. Anyway Eddie,, good to see you have been tucking into the IN room Sangsom bottle. ;-]. Or did the lucky lady drink most of it? ;-] ;-]. Nicely videoed.

Looks a nice hotel currently at centrepoint prime strange part about it when i was booking it was saying £22 Per night and on my girlfriends tablet it was £17 Per night for same room same time must be something to do with cookies i will use hers from now on, Rooms here very nice and new

Me and my missus were guessing the price as we were watching, and just before you announced it I had settled on 2,200 and she was guessing 2,500 😆 We were both blown away when you said 1,500. Those silly gloves for breakfast though - nah, not gonna happen. The Thais might be prepared to live like they are extras in a bad sci-fi movie, but not me.

As one can tell from the many wonderful comments here, this is why fans worldwide love Steady Eddy and his great travel vlogs. The "ship concept" hotel brought back the fondest memories of The Normandie Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico, modeled after the SS Normandie which sadly sunk in New York harbor due to fire in 1942. It was at that Puerto Rico hotel (now defunct), within walking distance to Old San Juan, where we memorably honeymooned eons ago being warmly welcomed there by glasses of champagne upon arriving in its lobby. Like yourself Ed I've walked past it many times over the years and I'm always intrigued by the place, never knew it's full name and did wonder at times what the prices were. I expect under normal circumstances pre-pandemic it would have cost a lot more and now we're into March hotel prices of course will generally start to fall. Enjoyed seeing inside some of it but like you not impressed with the breakfast at that price

Hi Eddy, enjoying the videos. My ninety days are up the end of the week so off back to the UK. During the last three months I have stayed in 7 different hotels around the country and my observation is that each one was in need of some tlc. I believe that closing the hotels, and the consequential lay off of staff, has had quite an effect. I have found hotel gardens a little overgrown, rooms feeling musty and a little abandoned, paintwork in need of freshening.,small things not working. Not blamining the hotels as they are in a catch 22. No income = no staff = no upkeep. Getting some of these big hotels back at full steam will be a major job and will only happen when demand is thereand things obviously deteriorate quickly in the tropics too. Just back from Koh Lipe this evening, paid Baht 4800 today for a 20,000 baht room 3 years ago. Same story...all a little bit faded..place not running on all cylinders yet. Beautiful island if it's a place you haven't visited yet but not the cheapest. Everything brought in by boat so that has an obvious affect. Looking forward to your meanderings.

A-one is always my 1st pick in Pattaya. A-one star is 1/4 the price ,rt next door, and guests there can go to the cruise ship side and enjoy same as any other guest.

I was wondering has Pattaya got a hotel like the ABC Hotel in Angeles? Adults only hotel where the guests are just looking for a good time.. The ladies that normally stay in the ABC are affluent filipinas that aren't paid to be there either. Just wondering 🤔

That looks FANTASTIC ! Can you imagine the architect's meeting with the investor years ago "OK, so we've come up with .... THIS !". And the guy said YES ! For such a massive place, they keep the common areas spic and span. The pool area looks very relaxing. I could spend a couple of days there and not leave the hotel except for meals. I think I'd prefer staying there and getting a cheap taxi down the main drag rather than staying where it's more noisy.

I remember soi 3 being opposite Mike's mall? Either way I miss being there.!

I first went to Pattaya 1989 got fantastic deals at Dusit Resort magnificent place there only used to be one ship at the A one back then they have obviously added to there armada bud!!..Used to start our evenings out at the Saba land body massage on north beach road around 11 pm out all night rocking back at hotel 6.30am with a bevy of beauties the fantastic breakfast spread was our evening meal and off to the room!! Never say daylight in Pattaya GREAT GREAT TIMES BUDDY!!!…

I'm looking at visiting Thailand sometime next year, but would like some advice please: I'm thinking of visiting Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket. As I'm from the UK, so I was thinking allowing a few extra days in Bangkok at first, to get used to the time difference and chill out before I start sightseeing. (What's your thoughts on this?) When's the best time of year for weather and hotel prices etc. The hotel prices are no problem, it's just the flights that are expensive. Also how easy is it getting around the respective places and how easy is it to communicate in English? I'm thinking of visiting for 3 weeks. Hey Eddie, I'm not trying to shift on you but I gotta call out your 'great value' assessments. 1500 baht for a night is always great price if you're in the west, but you're not in the west. The cost comparison in SE Asia doesn't make it a great value as there are decent places right close by for a fraction of the cost. Have a great time and keep the videos coming 👍👍👍

Nice one Eddie. Yes, 500 baht, is expensive to breakfast, for one person. But, you were booked into a double room. If the room rate, plus breakfast for 500 baht, was for 2 people, then, that would work out, pretty reasonable.

Hi Eddy , I arrived phnon penh 2 days ago , it took around 90 min to get out of the airport with the paper work and RAT but then free to go , phnom penh is all open and the prime minister himself has assured there will be no more lockdowns bars are fully staffed and not so many tourists , its actually better than its ever been , well worth a visit mate
