I have crossed that mountain hundreds, if not thousands of times, being reasonably 'local' myself. 'Llidiad Nenog' - I spelt it wrong before - certainly appears to be where we were, but whatever, we were at the masts. I have also heard it refered to as the 'Pen Top' - don't know if you have ever heard that one?
@@paulhenshaw4514Hi Paul!. Yes i know Pen Top well. Pen top is actually where the pencader road meets the llanybyther to carmarthen road. You probably know it, travelling south from pencader, you come up on to the junction & turn right toward carmarthen. Just after the junction, ther is a petrol station on the left. A close friend of mine was killed on his motor bike coming out of that junction in the 70’s. A speeding car coming from the carmarthen direction collided with his bike. That junction was opened up to give much better all round visibility soon afterwards. I don’t know what the official name for that area is, but locals around there call it Pen Top or Windy Corner. Some people could well call the place where the 3 masts are Pen Top. But i have not heard any local neighbours call it that. These local names go back a couple of centuries or more. I myself live less than 10 mins away from the masts.
Hi William, I used to go straight over from Rhydcymerau to the Llanllwni side, crossing the main road running from Llanybyther to Carmarthen and heading towards Llandysul via Llanfihangel Ar Arth and back again quite frequently and always on bikes. Interesting in the middle of winter at times!
