Sorry the volume is so low, I will try and work on this for the next one.
Only a short ride on my Royal Enfield Classic 350 this time,. as I am trying to prepare for our month away in Wales. I have been trying various video editing software, to use with my old and very slow laptop. Another consideration, is that the wifi in the holiday cottage, is quite weak. All in all, not ideal circumstances for editing and uploading to RU-vid, but I would still like to keep uploading content whilst away.
After many downloading and subsequent deleting of editing software, mainly due to my laptop not meeting the minimum system requirements, I have found that Clipchamp, is the only one I can get to work. Unfortunately, it is internet based, so that will throw up issues due to the poor wifi, but we have to make do with what we have.
Here at home, we have pretty decent wifi, yet due to my slow laptop, even this short 6 ish minute video took forever to create, largely down to the high resolution it was recorded in. So I will have to record in 1080p, just to help me (and Clipchamp) out, in editing.
Anyway, hopefully you enjoy it, and will hopefully accept the lower resolution as a temporary thing, until we return in February.
All the best,
Ian

Have a wonderful time in Wales and 1080 is cool too. Also, thank you for all your hard work in producing these brilliant videos for our delectation and delight, please know it is really appreciated. Thanx again for the delicious sarnie and coffee at PennyGarth cafe at Hawes, your a top man; it was a pleasure to meet you. Ride safe my friend.

Volume while lower, seemed fine. Ref the jacket, you might find that like most people you sit slightly asymmetrically on the bike which creates more jacket tension on one side, hence more contact with the element. Indicators should, IMO, be mandated by law to be self cancelling, it's a very serious hazard to have one left on as some people will take an indicator as gospel when pulling out of a junction, they are one of my favourite features on the transalp!. Clipchamp seemed to do the job if a little choppy here and there 00:50 for example. Still if it means you can process while you're away that's all that counts. Happy New year (almost) to you and Ann

Thanks ice. I record at -12 on the Osmo 3 to eliminate distortion caused by wind noise, then increase the audio in Davinci. Never an issue ! Unfortunately, Clipchamp doesn’t increase the volume enough, so I will have to change the camera volume settings, so hopefully that will sort that out. As for the choppy bit (it did it a couple of times), I did wonder whether it was due to the recording being in 2.7k, and Clipchamp converting to it’s 1080p limit, screwing things up. Clipchamp is the only software I can get to work with my laptop, I think mainly as it is internet based. In Wales, that will throw up a whole other load of issues, as it did last year 🙄. A basic 1080p 30 minute video, will take 5 + hours to render alone (after editing), then another 2/3 hours to upload to RU-vid then some more to process through to HD. I have to time these things to not coincide with our hosts using their computers etc, and bedtime 🥱😂, so I start the process as early as possible. All so I can continue producing content for us all to, hopefully, enjoy 😉 ☺️. The explanation about the jacket is quite feasible, as I know I do sit a bit p***ed up on the bike. Definitely agree with you about self cancelling indicators. All the best to you both, look forward to meeting up again in 2024

Thanks Ian, a great view over the Kent Estuary. The indicator issue might not always be your fault, I found they didn't cancel a few times on my trip to Cornwall even though I knew I'd pressed the button, although it could have been that my cold hands couldn't press it hard enough 😁. Looking forward to some more views around North Wales. All the best to you and Ann, Mick

Hey Ian, I don’t know if you already have one but I believe most of your visor fogging would be gone if you installed a visor Pin-Lock. It works for me except when I’m sitting at a traffic light. Though I think you mentioned in a previous video that you also, wear glasses and I don’t know how effective a pin-lock would be for your glasses. Just trying to help keep you safe. Wishing you and your bride a very Happy New Year. Roy Auburn, WA. USA
@ianhughesroyalenfield
@ianhughesroyalenfield 9 месяцев назад
Good afternoon Roy. Yes, I already have a pin-lock, which keeps the visor clear, but it’s my glasses I have problems with. I do normally use a cloth, which stops them misting, but it turns the mist into droplets, so not ideal. There have been many other suggestions, like smearing washing up liquid over the lenses, but I didn’t find that worked very well either. Sadly, the best way, is to leave the visor open a crack, but that has its downsides too 🙄 Roll on the spring 😂. Thanks for being concerned, much appreciated. All the best to you too. Cheers

Belated Happy New Year, Ian! I think the overtaking driver was in a hurry for a meeting with his maker... Low sound level aside, which I know you're addressing, quality was good. Re indicators, self-cancelling ones should be mandatory. I try and do the 'turn, change, cancel' routine, but even after 62 years of riding on the road, I still sometimes forget.
@ianhughesroyalenfield

Thanks Chris. I don’t get it with me and the indicators. You can often see me just tapping the button, for no apparent reason, then when I need to tap it, I don’t……numpty 😂 The speed limit all along that piece of road is 40mph, clearly just an idiot 🤬. Being away from my trusty computer, is going to involve quite a bit of trial and error. Hopefully I can produce some watchable content 🤞. Cheers

Hi Ian, a most enjoyable and interesting video. That's a fantastic view that we've yet to take in, especially given the number of times we drive up to The Lakes in our van! I've been using Keis inner gloves for a few years now, and I much prefer using them to my heated grips to be honest - full-finger warmth and all that. I'm interested to know how you're doing with Clipchamp incidentally, as I've been forced into using it by the wonderful Microsoft, having previously been quite happy with Windows Video Editor..... until they took it off us! Happy New Year anyway Ian. Cheers 👍
@ianhughesroyalenfield
@ianhughesroyalenfield 9 месяцев назад
Hi Martin. I too was a fan of the original windows video editor. When here at home, I use Davinci Resolve 18 on my desktop pc, but this was a trial run to see if the Clipchamp would work when we go to Wales next week. I find Clipchamp to be a bit clumsy on my old and slow laptop. I do have a usb mouse somewhere, which I will try with it. The problem with Clipchamp, is that (I’m pretty sure), it is internet based. So after opening your new project, you upload the footage you have taken off your sd card which is now on your device, to Clipchamp via internet. All would be fine, if both the internet and laptop were high speed. In Wales the internet is adequate at best, and certainly doesn’t like big video files being uploaded. So, everything takes forever unfortunately. As for using clipchamp, the interface is easy enough (especially after Resolve), but the free version is quite limited, and the finished article, like you see on this one, is a bit jerky in places. That might be due to the original footage being recorded in 2.7k. I am hoping that when I record in 1080p things will be a bit quicker, and the final product, smoother. With the free version, you can only render in 1080p, a bit disappointing. Overall, hopefully it will get me by, after all, it’s only for a month, then the normal high quality videos will resume. Hope this helps. That view is rather special, no matter the time of year. My RST Paragon 6 heated gloves, were an eye opener for me last year, and these Keis heated gloves and socks are just amazing. Almost all body warmth 😊All the best.

Hi again. My basic problem is my technophobia to be honest, hence being happy with WVE. My other problem is the basic nature and limitations of both my laptop AND PC. There's a complete app for Clipchamp, but it's over 60gb, which really slows everything down. At least it's getting me used to multi-layer editing (I've never tried anything like resolve). I do everything in 1080 and it seems to suffice.(I've had no complaints to speak of......yet!) A work in progress Ian, regards Martin. 👍

@martintraffordmoorlandbike7121 Davinci Resolve 18, requires some decent hardware to run it. I tried it on my laptop, not a chance. There is an open source editor called “Openshot”, which I was using before Davinci. The only trouble with that, is it sometimes doesn’t want to open, then when it did open, it kept freezing……nightmare ! I bought what is essentially a gaming computer, which cost £750, without it, I would be knackered 😂 A chap used pre-owned cases etc, and installed the gubbins to meet my needs. It’s been a godsend.

@martintraffordmoorlandbike7121 can’t have everything Martin 😂 I am actually just looking at other options, with “Shotcut” being one of them. Don’t forget, RU-vid is your friend, there are lots of tutorials on Clipchamp, and the others.
