UK based motorcycle vlogger, riding a Royal Enfield Classic 350 Reborn. The audio is unedited, so expect wind noise. What I hear in my helmet, you will hear on the video. My motorcycle is Clementine, a lovely little bike, well suited to the narrow country lanes which I lose myself on. As we have a Ford Van and Gobur folding caravan, we take Clementine on holidays with us, so expect ride videos from all around the UK. Some of the later videos have narration, most of the older one’s don’t. If you scroll through the older videos, you will find rides from when I had an Interceptor 650 too. You will also find some motorcycle ride reviews thrown in. Thanks for watching. inter650taoh@gmail.com
Hey bud, good to see you again. Luv Pip, wasn’t she interested in the waterfall. Enjoy your break and I hope you and Clementine get to do some riding. Ride safe Ian.
@mrgrizzlyrides today hasn’t quite panned out as expected. Ann had another AF attack in the early hours, so off we went to A+E in Crewe. Long story short, she has been admitted, will know more tomorrow 🫣🙄
@@ianhughesroyalenfield Aw God, that’s awful. Please give Ann our love and we pray she gets well quickly. You look after yourself Ian. Thinking of you both
Hi Ian, we're already in November up here, howling winds, rain and lots of very unhappy campers. Maybe we'll get a heat wave in December. Enjoy your week away👍
Thanks Mick. Weather here better than forecasted. Took a Scram 411 out today, (vid out Sunday/Monday), it was blowing a bloody gale, but wasn’t raining. Ridiculous ! Cheers
Reminds me of a modern trials bike, I think it looks great, will make a great little real world tourer, slap on some panniers and a bit bigger screen and head to Europe for some great fun on quiet roads, really enjoyed your review
Thanks Peter. I agree, though some people aggressively think otherwise (they have been removed), it makes a damn fine road bike. Not sure about the bigger screen, as I think it might cause more turbulence than this “little un”. At motorway speeds, for my stature, it’s fine. Cheers
Your fine things happen with wheather and family etc , pip looks lovely, I’ve just put the DAR filter in my classic 350 and it has made it smoother and a little bit deeper sound, so I’m pleased. Don 96 miles at this rate it will be two years before I have the first service lol 😊👍🐕
Nice to see you out and about Ian with Pip whilst waiting for better weather to arrive.? Both Ninja/Hunter now cleaned and in garage pending my holiday in Spain. Will try and send you some sunshine from Spain within the next few days. Ride safe, Bfn Mike Sunny Wales
@@ianhughesroyalenfield My dog 🐕 Freckles died about 8yrs ago & miss HIM.I buried him out the back yard so HES nearby.I want to get another but worry about having to move it's hard enough as it is finding somewhere to rent without a dog 🐕.They just don't live long enough & are definitely part of the family.I liked the pictures of your dog 🐕 at end of video.
@ruahinesrider thanks RR. We had our Molly cremated, and scattered some of her ashes in different locations where she enjoyed her adventures. If we had to rent somewhere, we know it would be difficult, as many landlords don't allow pets, but we think that's cruel. You can't beat the affection a dog shows you.
had to take mine to the vet today, found a lump the size of a little finger tip on her elbow, been fretting since last night but the vet was unconcerned and said to leave it unless it becomes bothersome
42F here, in our mid summer……I was thinking of buying Pip some wellies (rain boots), or waders. I know how hot it can get this time of year in Georgia. We had quite a shock when we went in mid July 🌞. Is your bike with you yet ?
Good little dogs Jack Russells. A favourite of the father in-law. Nice park and lake too. This global warming isn't as good as they predicted tho is it?
We vowed not to have another terrier after we lost Molly (Border/Parsons cross), but saw Pip, and that was it 🥰. We are fortunate to have this lovely place to walk here, though it took Pip a while to get used to big walks, she loves them now. So many sniffs, and yukky stuff to roll in 🤮😂. Agree about the global warming scam 🤬 Cheers
@@ianhughesroyalenfield My wife has gone from liking Dalmatians, of whom we have had two consecutively that I gave very long walks to, to liking Dachshunds!
Hi Ian, Nice to see your pooch she looks a fun pup, I gave up on Summer coming a few weeks ago so i took the engine out of my 70s Bonneville & i am busy rebuilding that been on the cards for a while anyway. Hope the weather brightens up or you all. Cheers Baz
Nice to see Pip Ian they are always great caahctorfull dogs my mum used to have them and a good friend of mine has a black and white one great dogs .What on earth has happened to the summer it's bloody awful this year 🥴and looks like we are going to be waiting for that Indian summer yet again, hope you get better weather on your break 👌👍
Thanks Mal, fingers crossed 🤞 for Thursday, I have already warned Roger 😂 Pip is a great pooch, her character is really coming out, the more she settles in.
Ill have the standard Black please. When I was messing with my classic 350 one or two people suggested that I may have been better off with the 500 classic. The General concensus seemed to be it was more powerful and some said better built. I do think that if I was to get another that I would be very tempted to get a bullet now. Dont know why🤔 Nice to see how they wrap them up though.👍 Take care mate.
I haven’t ridden a 500 yet, but from what I have heard, the 350 J series is smoother, and not much difference in performance. The 350 doesn’t rattle itself to bits, controversial I know, it’s just what I have heard. I like the 350 Bullet, don’t see many about which is odd. Thanks for the comment 👍
What do you recon if some day Royal Enfield put a 450 engine in the classic or meteor any body else out there got an opinion on this or would it spoil the bike ,old jimmy Australia
There is a teaser video out about the upcoming Guerrilla 450, I have been talking about it for ages, but didn’t know its name then. Definitely a road going version of the Himi 450. ru-vid.comti1thIQmNA8?si=ShUVZQHwP1u4QhnC as soon as it hits the dealers, I will be out on it 😎 As mentioned previously, I can perhaps see RE using the new engine in other formats, however, purists definitely won’t like a Classic with a water cooled engine, just look how the sales of BSA Goldstar’s didn’t exactly go to plan, even though it’s a really good bike.
You could probably emery cloth the spokes then ceramic coat them will probably do the trick.a battery fly lead permanent connection I plug my bike into a smart charger if not using for a couple of days.
I admit to not trying emery cloth yet Malcom, though I have used course wet and dry. The tarnishing is under whatever coating is on the spokes. Once scrubbed, you can run your finger over them, and they are smooth, but tarnished. Ceramic coating each individual spoke and nipple, would really be a pain in the a**e. My gripe, is that they should have been stainless from the factory. As for the battery, I too have a permanent connection, and used to periodically connect to the battery conditioner/optimiser, it still failed. The Yuasa I replaced it with, can go for 3 weeks (probably longer, as I haven’t left it longer than that), without being hooked up. That says a lot 😉
I'm six feet tall and weight over 300 pounds, would I look like a bear on a bicycle riding this? I want one to commute back and forth to work (20 min each way) twice a day. Mostly 80km/hr zones, with the option to take a back road if I want. I live in Canada. WOuld this be a good recommendation for me? I'm an experienced rider but stopped riding about 30 years ago.
It doesn’t matter what you think you look like, as long as you enjoy the ride. The Classic 350 would be ideal to get you back into motorcycle riding. Top speed is governed to 73mph (117kmh), though I usually cruise at about 55-60mph. Can I suggest that you have a look at my other vids to see what this bike is like on all types of roads. Honestly, it will go “almost” anywhere, and give you a massive grin. My best advice, would be to take one out for a demonstration ride yourself. Preferably for at least an hour or so. All the best.
🤔 the CB500X is a cracking road bike, with a modicum of off road ability. Some are saying the Himi is more off road than road, but it does make a damn fine bike for the twisties. When I first took the Himi 450 out, I was trying to compare it to a 2023 CB500X ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q-IEe8Kgjyg.htmlsi=pbGI3vc8tFt2BIDM but with the Himi being a 40bhp single, and the 500X being a 47bhp (ish) twin, it’s not quite a fair playing field. Yes the Himi can quite comfortably hold 70+ mph on the motorway, but I think it would be easier on the 500X. I think the 500X looks better, but that’s subjective. It really depends on the roads you ride the majority of the time. Perhaps take one out, it might surprise you 😉
Lovely area again Ian, and there's nowt wrong with covering the same ground from a different direction in my view (no pun intended) As I used to say to my coach passengers on an 'out and back' excursion - 'I know that we're travelling the same roads back, but everything looks completely different from 180 degrees opposite direction.' - talk about teaching grannies to suck eggs!! 🤦
Show me an example of YOUR experience recording audio at 50 - 80 mph on a motorcycle. Besides, I am not going to waste what little mortal time I have left, editing the high’s and low’s just to please you !
@@ianhughesroyalenfield where is your shi**y attitude coming from dude?? if you dont know how to read a comment, dont read it and specially dont reply. everything was good on your video other than some in some bit of the audio totally with buffeting noise. i have corrected some well known uploads from people like dandanthefireman, chrisbritch, nomadsweden.....they are way popular than you c*nt, they never disrespected my comment in anyways. dan hap a clip of his vidoe totally blackedout for 4 5 mins......he acknowledged my comm, so as other peoples too, and you are showing attitude ?? WOW. and for what cause?? correcting your mistake while editing. huh. 🙏👎GL 'get lost'. cant even sure what a comment ment by people watching the whole video without even skipping 💔
You have me there, I haven’t ridden it at night, in fact I don’t ride at night, due to my aging eyesight. Hopefully you have seen my reply to your comment about vibes. Regarding the headlight, from what I see of other “Adventure” bikes from the mainstream manufacturers, they have more lights than Blackpool on them 😂
Not the one I took on the motorway last week, and I went slightly beyond 😉 It cruised happily at 70, with only the very slightest of tingles through the bars, which weren’t worth mentioning, but I am honest with my reviews, say it as I find it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d0CTpwLbuvc.htmlsi=04xUtVAmi2jqDdDz
Well youve gone and done it again. Ian , Nice ride out whilst encorporating a good honest bike review.Time to take the bike back now, its gone dark and Crewe Motor Cycles are now closed, Ah well another day passed whilst smiling all the way. Until the next time, Mike Sunny Wales.
Thanks Mike, it’s been rather warm and sunny here too, too warm to be on the bike to be honest……but looks like rain starting tomorrow, bugger 🙄, no bloody middle ground nowadays. Either sweltering, or freezing 😂. Glad you enjoyed the video, look forward to hopefully meeting you in October when we make our annual pilgrimage to Hendre Mynach in Barmouth. As daft as it seems, not far off 😳
The Meteor Aurora model does, and looks rather splendid 😉 I had a look at them on this ... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oM1i3prbBQU.htmlsi=MJ0iq3kHxen2rU_o
Hi Ian, i enjoyed that as with more miles now on that bike it was good to see it on open roads and it looks more than quick enough for motorway’s and overtaking, i need to go get a test ride of the one at Saltire sometime, trail bikes were always my choice and be good to ride a modern trail bike 😁👍 Cheers Bruce
Thanks Bruce. Definitely more than capable of dealing with modern road/traffic conditions. I saw eighty six miles per hour on the motorway, with still more to go. It nips up to 60/70 quick enough on the A/B roads. Rides over our shitty roads brilliantly too 😎. Yes, you need to get out on one 😉, I’d like to know what you think, whether you agree with my thoughts. Cheers
I think the term would be “positive”. It goes into gear with a definite clunk before setting off, but on the road, I think it was fine. I have ridden a few other bikes since then, but I don’t recall it being noticeable. I have certainly ridden bikes with worse gearboxes. The Clutch was supremely light, probably one of the lightest clutches I have ever experienced on a motorcycle. Hope this helps.
@@ianhughesroyalenfield Thanks Ian, I appreciate your response. My only other experience of a bike gearbox was on my CB300R. That was really light, yet still positive. I’ve only had it day, so I think more time is needed on the bike. Loving it so far.
@ronlysons6750 tbh, I instantly loved the ride on my mates bike. It has a fair few miles on the clock, and ridden quite hard (my mate isn’t a slow rider). Is yours new ? Maybe it will “loosen” up with a few more miles on it.
@@ianhughesroyalenfield I'm 70 and only past my test in Feb, so I am slow rider, I was I keen cyclist up to about this time last year but my knees are getting old and playing me up. I bought the CB300R just to ride the lanes I used to ride on my bicycle, and it was fine, but you needed to keep the revs up. The 500 Hornet is heavier, but is more assured round the bends and I feel much more confident when cornering. The CB300R could get a bit skittish at times, especially with the roads the way they are at the moment. I don't know if it's the tyres what, but it is better. It's perfect for me, I've been out for 30 mins today and I think the gearbox will be fine. It's not as light as the CB300R, but no problem getting the gears. The bike is 3 months old with 1900 miles on the clock. The difference between this and the CB300 is like going from say a1000cc Vauxhall Corsa to. 2000cc Mondeo. Most of the time you still go the same speed, but the riding/driving experience is much better.
That engine seems have freed up nicely now, Ian. 👍 I think that, from your comments and those of TBW, this bike would be fine for most folks in our real-world lives.
Thanks Chris…..it really is a belter. I am awaiting the upcoming Guerilla (scram version), as the only issue for me is the seat height. On level ground, I am not quite flat footed, so on roads like the Wrynose pass, I would struggle. You can buy a lower seat, but I personally think you would lose some of the comfort. Knowing RE, I think the new platform will find its way into many guises, so interesting times ahead.
@@ianhughesroyalenfield You could be right about other platforms and the seat comfort aspect, but that issue can be addressed with different types of foam, should the factory choose to do that. Thin doesn't have to mean uncomfortable, but many companies unfortunately penny-pinch.
Ian, if you're happy, mate, we're happy! 👍 That's a nice little extension of your earlier ride, though I can relate to your comment about lack of direction signage. As an occasional visitor to the UK, I find it extremely frustrating to get to intersections that have no signage, have to guess which way to go and only find out after I'm a couple of hundred metres through the intersection and signage finally appears, that I'm on the right or wrong road. Why on earth the signage isn't shown in advance of the intersection is a source of mystery - or perhaps it's simply due to British idiosyncrasity!
Thanks Chris. They probably haven’t been replaced since being taken down during WW2 😂. Someone being given the task, probably weighed the signs in for scrap 😂
Thank you Ian for that real world review, after all , we aren't all a MotoGP/Motocross world champion rider are we? I hope you don't mind me saying that most of us are just average blokes, enjoying riding bikes within our capabilities.
I don’t mind you saying that at all Paul. I actually blocked one of the 🛎️ ends that had a go at me previously for not taking it off road. Tried to have another go today, despite my words, so I hit the button 😂. Cheers
That was a nice area that you rode thru. It's a pity that where all those roadworx were there will most likely be lots of new housing. People have to live somewhere tho don't they?
All those new roundabouts and roads etc have taken over two years, and umpteen months of major road closures. Even then they couldn’t get it right. The new roundabouts on the main road, are too tight for some articulated lorries to negotiate without driving over either the outer curbs or the roundabouts……all designed on a fag packet when they were p****d up 😢. Yes, new housing developments to be built to the left of where I finished (eventually) the video. Now, I bet not many of them will be “affordable” !
@@ianhughesroyalenfield The same nonsense going on everywhere. I think affordable housing is something they can spell but couldn't care less about. When they are built the speed limits will be restricted there too.
@simonchilli2088 definitely. Makes my blood boil tbh. There are no road repairs going on, yet the councils are getting so much from these building companies, they really should be spending the coffers elsewhere. Cheshire East (where we are in this video) are paying a temporary financial director almost £1200 a day…..yes you read that right….a day ! The council is already cash strapped, yet they are paying this ridiculous amount to one person. Everyone is in uproar, but they are powerless.
I’ve not ridden a 450; but it’s clear from your video that the performance criticisms of the 411 have been answered on this bike. People make me laugh, I mean, actually complaining about vibration on a single, jeeez. I luv my 411, warts and all. But, I wouldn’t take a 450 off road either. It’s far to nice a bike to take onto the bedrock, rock strewn trails and river crossings of the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales. The bash plate of my 411 has many gouges and buckles to remind me of past trails. My hand guards have scratches through contact with bushes on narrow lanes. My engine bars are even scratched with going through deep ruts and scraping against rocks in the sides of ruts and I just couldn’t do that to a 450. I have no doubt at all that the 450 will be very capable of riding these trails and the fact that you can disable the antilock brakes on the 450 is a great help when riding some surfaces. Anyway, Itchy Boots has demonstrated just how good the 450 is off road as do some of the Aussie guys. Superb review Ian, great work fella. Take care and ride safe.
Thanks Neil. Nathan the postman did quite a good summing up, and fair enough, he was comparing to the 411 in a mainly off road discussion, and he thought the 411 was less intimidating, especially for newer riders. Cheers my friend.
@@ianhughesroyalenfield Great video Ian. To be honest, Mr Grizzle here sums up exactly the difference between 411 and 450. The old one's been busted up on the trails and the new one's too nice to try it. I find it a shame the bike's not as 'usable' as the old one but if folk are getting different uses out of it then all for the good. Safe travels.
@nathanthepostman thanks Nathan, I feel humbled that you should comment on my video, so thank you. Despite what some pillocks say, it does make a half decent road bike, riding our pothole ridden roads very well, comfortable at all legal speeds, and fun in the twisties. I am looking forward to the Guerilla being released, as I think that will be more road focused. Thanks again 👍
Totally agree with you on your review spot on loving my 450 does the the stuff the 411 should of done the only negative I have it's the fuel cap opens the wrong way and it's a pain in the to fill good thing is it sips fuel I'm getting 81 mpg on mine riding it normal like you were doing 👍
Thank you, I will have to take a look at the fuel filler. Someone else mentioned that too 🤔. When I took the 450 out the first time, I was amazed at the indicated mpg, but I was being “careful”. I didn’t think to see what it was doing this time out 🙄, I was enjoying the ride too much. Great to know you are enjoying yours 👍
