Please Note : Recorded before taking the Himi 450for a spin.
Hi, today we back track, from our last ride, to see where a lane I was unsure whether I should have taken, ended up. So glad I did, ok it was rough, and covered in potholes / gravel / grass, but it was a joy non the less !
I was also trying out another different setting on the camera recording volume (-8), plus a different mic position, in an attempt to stop clipping from happening. Although it was an improvement, we still aren't quite there yet !

Hello From Canada Ian. Many thanks for the lovely rides through countryside that I shall probably never visit again. We enjoy your mutterings and observations, don't change anything. And between you and Fillingham and Bingley, you've collectively been at least partially responsible for me buying an Interceptor while on the wrong side of 70 years old, it's brilliant and brings back memories of my old Commando. Cheers.

Thanks John, so happy that you enjoy my ride videos. The Interceptor is true to heritage, with a modern twist in my opinion. The only gizmo’s being what it needs for worldwide emissions etc. With a nice set of exhausts, it does bring back memories of old British twins, though I guess your old Commando was more of a thrill. Keep riding until you can ride no more 😎. Thanks again.

Morning Ian, sorry for the delayed response... Another nice ride down the back roads on a bike well suited to them. As an observation re the comments on sound, the complaint's appeared to come from a classic example of a Whinging Pom. Folks like that give your fellow-countrymen a bad name! 😁 I think he was really referring to the high-speed part at the end of the video, where your voice did get a bit indistinct.

Morning Chris. That fellow, just wouldn’t let go, so I asked him to unsubscribe, which thankfully he has now done ☑️. It is this inconsistency regarding higher speed audio recording, that I am trying to get right. For the next ride out, I have returned the settings to those I used on the Himi 450 video, with my only fear being that the exhaust note won’t be quite as good. All a learning curve. Cheers

Another cracking ride Ian, definitely a route suited to the 350, I think that’s one of the great things about these bikes, they make you want to go exploring the little back roads, the roads you would have avoided with bigger bikes, I like the new position of the SJCAM good perspective and the clamps cover up any excessive speeding 😉😂 as for having Blondie in my head, she’s been there since 1974 😂😂 all the best buddy 👍

Enjoyed the ride our Ian. Video/sound is brilliant.Unlike the weather you had on the ride. Similar to Wales, overcast,BUT DRY. Managed a ride out earlier today on RE.Hunter. Dolgellau area. Until the next time. Ride safe. Bfn Mike

I enjoy the curves of the side roads in Florida once you get away from the interstate highway. Less traffic,monster trucks,etc. Have to keep an eye out for loose cows though.

@melfzs epic trip. Mick (5D traveler) will be putting his daytime ride from Capel Curig to Porthmadog up soon. I have contributed to it with some p.o.i’s. Ann and I lived and worked for the National Trust in Snowdonia (Beddgelert) for about 2 years, so quite familiar with the area. Cheers

Do you need a screen ? 😅 I was thinking any time now Peter will be tootaling the other way, but no TMF sends one of his mates to put you in a ditch 😮 every time you ride over the M6 I think the video is going to end, the sound is good Ian well very good thanks for the mention and the M6 ending perfect 👍

Morning James. No I don’t want a screen ta 😂. Peter will probably do it within the next couple of weeks 😉 (btw we don’t subscribe to each other). Yes that van was on a mission 🙄 Hopefully the setting I used on the Himi 450 video (recorded after this), will still bring out Clementine’s exhaust note, and no clipping like on here. Cheers.

Thanks Donna. Really it is due to being consistent with the audio, when riding different bikes. Trying to get it sounding as good when doing a demo ride with a bike fitted with a screen and going a bit quicker (more wind noise), as when riding Clementine. Not easy 😂

@Butlers_Bike_life thanks, more clipping than I would like but a constant work in progress. Set up is a DJI Osmo Action 3, plus their own mic adapter and lav mic, with furry dead cat. On this video, in camera recording volume set at -8 then increased in editing. On the Himi 450 video (recorded after this one), I returned the recording volume to -6 (again increased in editing), which I am starting to think is the optimum at the moment. Though I need to get out on Clementine again, with these settings and the dead cat, to make sure we still get to hear her gorgeous exhaust note. Cheers

Sound was good to me Ian and Clementine in her element ! I have been watching Glyn Owen with his Classic 350 project and was amazed at the quality of the internal of the engine. Even more impressive was the quality and tensile strength of the bolts used on the engine casings, why would you replace them with inferior strength stainless steel bolts ? Hope your mums appointments go well 😊

Realizing it is apples and oranges, how does the riding experience of the Classic 350 on these roads, for these purposes, compare to the Himalayan 450 that you just tested. I mean obviously it is both bigger and faster and the slightly more off-road capable suspension make the 450 different than the Classic 350. But I mean is the 350 as nice a practical and enjoyable ride for you out there in the country side? OR, really, all things considered should a person now just get the Himalayan 450 if an Enfield single is what one is looking at.

In an ideal world, I would have both. The 350 is great for just pottering about, but when a more “spirited” ride is needed, the 450 would fit the bill. Also, although yes you can do big mileages on the 350, it takes that bit longer. If you want to go further afield, then do some lanes, then the long ride home,the 450 would be ideal. Hope this makes sense. Cheers

Nice run Ian good visually and the sound was really good just little bit of what I would describe as fluttering in the sound for a very short time not sure why maybe it's was me 😉but some lovely scenery too cheers👌👍

Thanks Mal. Yes that “fluttering” is what I want to eliminate. It appears occasionally, and spoils the whole video for me. Yes I am my worst critic 😂. It’s all a case of trying to find a “one for all” setting, which still highlights Clementine’s exhaust, and copes well enough when I do demo rides on bikes with a screen, or quicker bikes. Cheers

For what you pay in fuel prices the roads should be in immaculate shape. What would you do if you had a side car outfit and a car was coming the other way? Those roads are so narrow.😮

We love our lanes as they are, having an outfit would only be like driving a car, you just have to get out of each other’s way.

@@ianhughesroyalenfield I'm actually listening through Big speakers on a television, So the base is probably drowning out your voice which is quite low, Again I Suggest you check out other more sophisticated RU-vid channels like The Bingley Wheeler' or Stuart Fillingham and get up to their sound standards, Cheers Paul
