Hm 411: Road: 40%, Offroad: 60% Hm 450: Road: 60%, Offroad: 40% After riding 411 and 450 back to back, I can confirm that the 450 is a better adventure bike than 411 but the 411 feels better riding offroad due to low end torque and smaller size. The new himalayan feels top heavy and there is not much useable torque below 3000 Rpm. Infact, the old himalayan feels more torquey when releasing clutch without throttle.

Love to know what area/roads you were riding in. I think i recognised some from my trip there a number of years back on the old 500. New 450 bike looks great. Kind regards. Geoff NZ.

As an Indian, we don't ride this with wife and kids/dog. It's targeted and priced for people who already have cars and but wants a bike for adv touring. We are a developing country and there are people travelling by bike with wife and kids but not on a 40 bhp bike.

Since most of the speed limits on UK roads are dropping (20mph in Welsh towns), I don’t think that, can it cruise at 80 ? is too much of an issue. I live in Kent, use the old Himmy for everything & commute on M25/M2 & it’s fine. Mr Child needs to re adjust his thinking. Not everyone wants to zoom around everywhere at 100mph.

Would love to see Aaron ride this in the Lakes to see what it's like for greenlaning here in the UK.

No one rides 3 up on a himalyan. 😂😂 we have scooters for that.

I've been watching all the reviews about it. The bike looks good! But KTM is completely re-vamping their 390 Adventure and it looks AMAZING. Should be about 30lbs lighter and 7 more horsepower. More narrow than the RE... About $1000 more money but.... I loved my highly-modded Suzuki DR650 and always thought "If this had 10 more horsepower, it would be nearly perfect....". Enough to comfortably cruise at 50-70mph up any hills at any altitude fully loaded. The KTM could be that bike I've been waiting for. But it's not out for another 8 months... At the end of 2024.. 😞 I love these small adventure bikes that look to be so competent and affordable. Personally, I wouldn't want an adventure bike to weigh over 450lbs and be fearful to drop it. And quite simply, you don't much more than these little adventure bikes to travel to the far reaches of the globe. Plenty of people are proving that every day... Thanks for the review!

Well these roads are nothing, Border Roads Org is building end to end 5k long road from Eastern Himalayas Arunachal to Ladhak In the West. Proper tarmac road.

​@KnoxArmour The problem is, Chad said the new 450 is a bike to travel on long distance, where the 411 definitely isn't. That's a completely inept assessment. There's many a world traveller that's done exactly that on their 411. Itchy Boots being one, but there's so so many others. Having watched your 411 vlog & this 450 vlog back to back, it's like a different channel. Nothing buy praise for the 411 then & now Chad basically giving it no praise at all. Very very odd & wrong in my opinion.

Excellent analysis, yes Indian roads are so horrible all over the country if you aren't on the national highways. My old himmy was a champ in the bangalore pothole ridden roads. I used to take it on so many dirt roads so happily. It was the best bike I owned, and for sure will buy the new himmy in the UAE now at first chance but can't yet as I don't have the two wheeler license. One thing that will be missed is the low end torque, man my himmy chugged along in any condition. It was a tractor and that low end torque is really one of the best feelings. Can't think of any other real issue with the new bike as long as it is niggle free at launch. My old himmy was the first batch and it had some niggling issues till the 3rd variant came along, that's when it went up in price abroad as well as it had many refinements. The map not closing the phone might be resolved at some point with a software update? That would be a very good upgrade.

Well, the 452 is about 500 GBP more than the old one in India, ex-showroom. Maybe they'll price it around 5, 5.5k GBP in the UK?

Its nice an refreshing to hear someone say 4k is alot of money, i think its a shame they have moved away from the simplicity in some respects as they are playing in a different playing field now. The main thing im watching to see is the reliability of all this stuff along with parts availabilty. As theres alot of people having major issues getting parts in the UK at the moment looking at the groups, people are still waiting months for bits on the royal enfield gb group this never gets mentioned in the press ever, i had a 2023 411 loved it but was riddled with issues, and ultimately ended up rejected for full refund an experienced the parts problem myself while all that was going on with. The top of the line one is close to the 300 Rally an only 550 quid or so difference to the nx500 Hondas. The other thing that bothers me is the fly by wire never been a massive fan of that, on 2x ktms and 2x 1200gs/gsa 2014 an 2018. I think itl sell alot an i think its great to see more bikes in this price range though competition improves the breed as they say :) n i wish everyone thats been involved with it well but as someone thats had problems on a bike 6 years or so into production i hope they have the QC sorted on this one. Speaking of the alternatives, with our own money Dad an i bought an had 2x ktm390s absolute disaster reliability wise both got rejected at 147 an 269 miles. I had the Himalayan rejected at 500 miles. Which in years of riding an personally over 30 bikes myself ive never had to reject a bike before these an dad never till that ktm. An then the 300 Rally which ticked all the boxes apart from the soft shock changed that for a rally raid level 1 shock, 300 rally was brill for doing some trail riding on ultimatly sold it for a bucket list bike the 1150gsa an got nearly all my money back selling to a Honda dealer so that was good. Its a shame as theres aspects i liked of the ktm an the Himalayan but the QC let them down, Honda was typical Honda no issues. Obv that was my experience an others may be totally different.

I want to buy this bike just because it has google maps in the dash. How the hell isn't that more of a thing? edit: okay, i didnt know it was one of those things where you can't let your phone sleep. that sucks. that's what makes the BMW setup on the RT/K16/R18 so crappy in my experience.. but at least it's google maps at not BMW's crap. best built in satnav I've ridden is on Harley bikes, of all things.
