Very thorough explanation and good visual attention to detail for a single cam video. I like that you cover every step of this no matter how simple. I especially like that, after telling us you can't show us the disconnects under the tank, you show us those connections and their location with the tank off, so we get a sense of what we will be feeling around for and whereabouts it will be. People with a lot of mech experience often gloss over or omit steps they think are intuitive or of minor importance because they already know how to do the job; thus they can confuse an audience that is usually not as mechanically savvy, sometimes panicky, and often in need of hand-holding through the process. I will appreciate the thoroughness of this video when the time comes to remove the tank.

If you cut the breathers in a more accessible spot and use a barbed hose connection it might make it easier to remove. Also use some silicone to stick your washers to the bottom of the tank mounts.

Good morning, just watched your video. I've taken my tank off a few times and noticed that the front of the tank had scratched the top frame where the front of the tank rested when I propped up the rear of the tank to disconnect the fuel and vent hoses. I messed up taking off and putting my tank back. It was spilling gas at whatever angle i was leaning it towards. And the tank just wouldn't go back the on the stays after but after a little persuasion it found its way back. Plugged everything back and screwed back the bolts. Ran the bike around the neighborhood with an engine check light on. But eventually went away. Bike ran. But I was worried lol. I like the towels idea.. I should've done that. Some of my cables or wirings got pinched abit from the tank. But i guess it's fine. Thanks for this video

Did my first valve adjustment on new bike about 430 miles before I got to it. Both valves were tight. every was pretty easy with valve tools but having a hell of a time getting the tank bolts back in. The tank needs to go another 1/4 forward but she won't budge. Threads looked like the factory had a tough time also.
@OlManRonin
@OlManRonin 2 года назад
yikes. It came off with no issue though??
@stanleyne1

Was tight when it came off. Ended up using zip tie on front brake so it didn't come off the center stand and pushed forward as I wiggled the back of the tank up and down and finally got it to line up. Thanks for the reply!
@OlManRonin
@OlManRonin 2 года назад
@@stanleyne1 I'd check to see if the grooves that the rubber sets go into on the tank are bent keeping the tank from going any further forward if possible. If they seat up all the way, then I would talk to your nearest RE dealer. Thats a new one on me to be honest.

Great Vid as always. I took my tank off to vinyl wrap it. Reinstalling I had a beast of a time getting the mounting holes near the seat to line back up. Got it, but man the clearances were definitely less. Still overall not too difficult and a great video. Man after my own heart.

yes it can be tricky, I didn't have issues, but using a wood chopstick to help line up the rear bolt holes helps and not damage threads. Ancient Chinese Secret lol

Just had the tank off this afternoon on my buddies bike do to some wiring of lights. Getting the tank off no big deal getting the rear mounting bolts back is a complete pain in the ass. We took a good 20 minutes to get the holes lined up. Tip, use a drill bit or awl to force the holes into alignment and even then it was a right pain in the ass. The washers on the underside shift very easily and then the bolt will not go through, the neighbours learned some new words.

G'day from South Australia Ronin. Looking at those 2 lines under the tank, are you sure the one with the clamp on it isn't the fuel return line. Fuel injection systems use constant pressure to the injectors which supplies more than they need most of the time so the excess is returned to the tank.

I thought wow when you were removing the fuel line and pump wire, Enfield are onto a winner with not having to grope around under the tank to remove the connectors, it's a shame they had to spoil it and put the two lines and fuel gauge wire under the tank you have to grope for.

@aviewfromthesaddle4160
@aviewfromthesaddle4160 2 года назад
Great video, thanks 👍 would you know if the process is the same on the BS6 / Euro V model? I had a glance through the factory shop manual for that and the official process is to drain the tank first, my instinct is calling bs on that! 😁 What you've done in your video here is far more inline with what I would expect!
@OlManRonin
@OlManRonin 2 года назад
I think they say that to drain the tank is because of weight. But I can't say for sure. Look where the fuel line meets the connector and see if there is still a compression connector. If so, I wouldn't bother to drain the tank, just another unnecessary step. BUT to be safer, do this when the tank is near empty.
@aviewfromthesaddle4160
@aviewfromthesaddle4160 2 года назад
@@OlManRonin Thanks :) I was hoping the weight was the reason (that and safety generally when the tank's off the bike!). I want to route some accessory cabling under the tank and take a look at the wiring connections for my front ABS sensor cable (keeps triggering the ABS and engine management light) but I'd prefer a quicker and easier method than draining the tank first!! It's only got 1/3 of a tank in it at the moment, so will give it a shot!

@OlManRonin
@OlManRonin 3 года назад
you don't have the tank seated properly then. The washers help protect the rubber mounts. I personally wouldn't ride it until done right. seat the tank, wiggle in until the bolts fit. Use a screw driver to or scratch awl to center the holes. using the complete washer rubber mounts
