Loving the narratives in your videos. Everything else feels drab now that I've seen how you guys do reviews. I'm getting the Interceptor this week. Watching this makes the wait so much more exciting!
Ive watched a lot of motorcycle reviews, as Im currently researching what will be my first bike(37 yrs old). I must admit the Indian reviews are far and away better and more enjoyable to watch than the British or American reviews. You guys have really great taste in humor, banter and vid quality. Great comparison here!! Im leaning toward the RE INT650 but Im also very attracted to the Kawasaki Z650RS.
That’s a really nicely put to together comparison ... nowadays videos from zigwheels are becoming more and more enjoyable and relatable and more importantly helping individuals find the automobile that s suitable for them.. cheers guys !!! In a platform where most ppl are just reading out spec sheets .. all the extra efforts and the thought process put in to make the content enjoyable at the same time not loosing track of what needs to be conveyed is simply awesome.. kudos to team and keep rocking .. expecting more and more content like this.. cheers
Surprisingly That's where most Indian lacks knowledge about proper segment wise comparison, and as a result we're getting to see some new form of toxicity among bikers without proper knowledge comparing 650twins with higher compression ratio short stroke engine bikes like RS 457 or 390 KTMs only to make themselves happy and show that they've still lot's of things to learn about bikes.😂
Great review guys. I like the looks of the interceptor and like that it's quieter. It appears the foot peg placement isn't great, but all in all I'd get the RE and just use some of the money saved for a good quality seat like a Corbin.
@@dougfielding8215 That's right. You can get an RE Interceptor 650 in India for USD3320 (exchange-wise). In Malaysia, a Royal Enfield Int 650 costs USD11880 (MYR to USD) which is still a better price (not sure about value for money) compared to a Kawasaki W800 at USD12840 and a Triumph Bonneville T120 for US19460.
1:52 The vibration is actually part of the feel of old British Twins. The W800 is designed to vibrate at 3,500-4,500 rpm. Above and below that range, it's smooth.
I will beg to differ as triumph itself is the incredibly smooth bike and both Triumph and Royal Enfield are very close to each other when it comes to feel of that vibration you are talking about
@@shree397 the RE 650 and Bonneville have a 270 degree crank while the W800 has a 360 degree crank. The 1960-70s Bonneville had 360. The newer age retro bikes came with 270 crank for better refinement but the W800 is a true retro, what the original British bikes used to be.
@@sinner_ra More retro seriously, Royal Enfield is older then triumph and Kawasaki, And this is not the first time Royal Enfield has used to 270° crank order for parallel twin, infact it was done way back in 1936.
@@shree397 I don’t know from where you have got this information (on RE using 270 degree crank in 1936). However that wasn’t my point. I just mentioned why RE and Triumph and feel smoother than the W800. W800 might be the only bike in production with 360 degree crank available today.
@@sinner_ra Darling dont do that, Your syntax insinuated something else. It is not how you formulate a sentence when you want to say what you wanted to say. anyway royal Enfield used 270 degree crank on bullet 500 twin one it's prototype bike and it really caught fame but because 270 is more prone to vibration if the crank is not made in specific way so the end product was a 360 as in those days counter balancing engines was technically expensive and 360was accept and easy and cheap to make. And retro or non retro there is a reason everybody moved from 360 to 270 because 270 is better in almost every way. Kawasaki wanted to differentiate themselves but we're unsuccessful, sales numbers are awful.
Great video guys! Not that much into bikes, but still watched the video start to finish. Kudos to the camera team and editing department. The output is just great.
@@kubervisnu9805 ask any 650 twin owners and they will tell you they are fine with the engine, in fact most of them will tell you it's one of the best motorcycle engine in India. And before I finish, many single cylinder RE has gone to the heights of Ladakh, and has come back, without hesitation.
Great chat gents , nice to hear , open opinion of what was British that is not British , rather than the usual KICK the British for the passed , but an open opinion on what was , the younger people can improve on to make their lives better . You two are could never been mistaken for British twins . lol . Enjoy your selves ride safe , and a really enjoyable video , thank you .
Both bikes are great but I have an 800 café which I love. I found the RE to light in the steering. A lovely country you have there. It looks epic if a little dangerous in the city, but I love the culture. Me & the missus will visit one day.
I've owned 3 Kawasaki triples, Zed's and I'm basically a Kawasaki fan through and through, but out of the 2 , I would go for the Enfield. Indian's should be proud of a great bike. I'm old and if I was buying today, go to be light, so ninja 400 but all-time favourites H1F, H2C, Z1R ,Z1000R, ZXR 400 , GPZ750 turbo. If I could have one back H1F.
With the saved up money on the interceptor, one can get aftermarket exhaust, air filter, ecu tuning and whole lot of mods which will make it a much much faster bike than w800
@@Kaboooooom arey I know bro. I am just trying to say the extra amount its charging. You can have an aftermarket exhaust air filter powertronic ecu + quickshifter all of this under 60k. Still save tonsa money. Plus how does all of this not make it a better bike?
Proud owner oy my RE inter..my candy bakers express..luv ..both good and bad boy bike also...u have that raw feel of pure motorcycling just simple and retro n powerfull.
Remember, that Kawasaki engine is a 20 year old design. All they did for the 800 is install updated add-ones to the existing bike, like fuel injection, ABS and an increase of displacement around 100 cc’s. The basic engine design is the same. A 270 crank with a balancer will always be smoother than a 360 crank with a balancer. And the RE handles better too.
The matte black w800 looks fresh. Just got a 2019 w800 cafe here in the US, which are very uncommon. Extremely happy with it though, as I'm tired of seeing either crotch rockets or Harleys everywhere I go. It's also pretty damn quick.
@@SeshanSundar yepp they are working pretty decently in rains...but they r of plastic and I want to remove them very badly...yet to take a decision...m afraid whether the absence of mud guards gets my bike sprayed with stagnant rain water 😅
There is one thing you would have to agree though, the RE would eventually see more trips to the service center than the Kawasaki which would last forever with just oil changes and some periodic maintenance.
I have owned previous low quality RE bikes before buying Interceptor, I never had any problem with my bikes. At most I did was change clutch wires, and after like 4 years, one of the spark plugs. Literally zero maintenance cost. My interceptor is only 1 year old so I can't judge it yet but it has never caused any problems till now and the 2nd servicing cost of 650cc bike was only Rs. 2500, out of which Rs. 2100 was for oil change and Rs 400 was oil filter cap. Pretty damn cheap if you ask me. $33 for 2nd service, I mean how much cheaper can it get for owning a 650cc? Kawasaki imports it parts and stuffs, you will be paying a lot more for servicing and maintenance. These reviews don't consider the cost of owning a vehicle.
You need spares which should be available on time and should not cost a bomb .Petty spares like oil filter , air filter , specific tyres if it has , spark plugs , and some critical parts in event of crash ,etc should be off the shelf . No use paying lacs if bike sits in repair shop for weeks. RE has its service network with abundance of spares everywhere kudos for its decades of existence .
Enjoyed that a lot....you guys are funny and entertaining. IN the USA the W800 is only 1/3 more in price, but still substantial. I have a Classic 500 and am considering adding one of these two or the Moto Guzzi V75. Thanks for the great review.
The W800 every day of the week! Only reason for the RE would be the price... but we ride motorcycle for the fun so spending a bit more money will be quickly forgotten 😉
Eagerly awaiting the Interceptor's delivery! Same Baker Express scheme! First thing I'm gonna do is replace the mirrors with the Continental's bar end mirrors. Then slap on that AEW exhaust.
The winner of this test is the W800 Classic not shown here. It’s absolutely one of the most beautiful and authentic looking/sounding “British” bikes on sale, even more so than a Bonneville.
Both terrific bikes but I prefer the W800 putting cost aside of course. The Kawasaki is a beautiful looking bike and reliability will be second to none. If I was in the market for a new bike this is the one I would choose but for now I'm still in love with my Moto Guzzi V7lll special and will not change it for any other bike at the moment.
That was a good and funny review guys-good job! I looked at a W800, but I didn't get one. Why? I think it's just too big; compared to the W650 I used to own, I think that the 800 has lost its way. The W800 costs too much too. Here in the US, it's $10K! For $10K, I could get a lot more bike. Also, the Interceptor 650 just looks GORGEOUS in Baker Express-wow! Seriously, I think RE offers more value for the $ compared to any other bike maker on the planet right now. They offer what the Japanese USED to: good, solid, basic bikes at a reasonable price. The Big Four have lost their way...
I bought my brand new interceptor 650 bike 1 month back in Jalgaon Maharashtra. And trust me guys the interceptor is so addictive that i stopped driving my car. The engine is super refined because of being a twin cylinder engine. The engine runs on lower compression ratio which makes it tolerable to any kind of petrol available in small towns. I mean it is happy with 89 RON rating petrol also whereas the other superbikes need only 97 RON rating petrol which is quite diffucult to procure in small towns and while riding on highways.
As the fan of W800 I have to say - for that price you have there I would never ever choose W800 over Enfield. Also, even for the price in the UK which is more like 6k vs 8k I would never choose the black Street version of W800. However... there are nicer versions of the W available now (classic) and there is a lot of used W's with really low mileage here on the market.
People out in the US love the interceptors where they have to pay more than what we pay and yet they consider it the best value for money. Imagine what we get from Enfield then. It's going to remain the king of the segment. Nobody will come close simply bcoz of the price lol
Great video & I liked how the Interceptor blew him away in the Twisties & w800 being 800cc should perform way better. The 650 looks better & has a better torque delivery & is more real world friendly.
The RE Interceptor was actually designed at RE global technology centre in Leicestershire England. First class English design with first class Indian Engineering, with such a pedigree it just can't fail. 👍😎
