In this video, our three team members - Amit, Raj and Vikas share their experience with Royal Enfield's most expensive offering. It gets the company's all-new 650cc, twin-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum power output of 47bhp. This is the first time we have seen a twin-cylinder long-stroke engine from Royal Enfield mated to a rather smooth gearbox. It's also one of the only few motorcycles in the company's lineup to get a slip and assist clutch. While it has many positives, it has its fair share of drawbacks as well. We explain all of that in this video.

The Interceptor actually is subjected to a dilemma in India. I am a proud Interceptor rider for the last 2 years and I personally believe that the bike usually gets compared to its contemporaries just based on its price, that is people start comparing to something like an Apache 310, KTMs and Dominars of that range. As good as these bikes might be in their respective classes I just fail to understand a comparison between Interceptor and the rest of these bikes cause all of them cater to different set of audiences and the kinda rush that you might get from a KTM 390 is something that can't even be compared to a Triumph Bonneville let alone Interceptor, and that's where the difference lies. The Interceptor is an out and out alternative to something like a Triumph Street Twin and Kawasaki W800, so essentially you're getting a bike that goes toe to toe with its rivals while costing 1/3rd the price of a new Street Twin or W800 and that's where the value lies.

the weight problem only stays with you for the initial days....once you get used to it, it doesn't bother you...there is literally nothing that comes close to the overall package...and that engine...its a gem!

yes, i also experienced the weight issue for the initial days. But after a week or two riding it you get used to the wieght. No issues at all. A superb bike for both daily commuting and long rides.

I rode this bike with pillion without seat modification for around 1800 kms there were proper hills , off-roads, water crossing, rains, slushy roads, and at any point i never felt guilt about the bike and its performance ,only the thing which i felt was seat is not comfortable for long rides, and when luggage is on with pillion then any motorcycle you can loose control while sudden movement , only thing is tough to pull back your motorcycle from road side edges, so best solution is to park your motorcycle at proper level surface , you will always enjoy this beast ...

Bring right people in such discussions, preferably the owners. I own Interceptor for last 3.5 years and I love it. I have done multiple long rides Ladakh, Spiti, Gangotri, Kedarnath.. many more with full of confidence and comfort. For me this is the best RE till now. I also own RE TB 500 and had Himalayan for 3 years before Inti and I can say Inti is the best..

Very tru felt like the people were inefficient understanding this motorcycle, i mean the anchor kept complaining 1500 units are low but he doesn’t get that the 1500 units sales bike has a price point on road around 4 lakhs and this price it it’s registering 1k+ sale’s itself is appreciable. Really the people were not the expert atleast when it comes to RE and Modern Retro segments.

I am a Proud owner of Interceptor 650 since the last 3 years...I would like to present some points: 1. Its very painful that RE has completely forgotten this bike after launch... 2. No official accessories have been provided to uplift the user experience for the last few years... 3. I had to purchase Seat, Backrest, Led headlamps, indicators, hazard flasher etc from Third party stores which weren't provided by RE. 4. MOST IMPORTANT: When you take the 650 twins for service there is NO SPECIAL Treatment for the owners as they belong to a MORE PREMIUM segment than Classic and Meteor owners... 5. Most of the RE showrooms are NOT EQUIPPED to repair and service the 650 twins... I hope RE rectifies its mistakes and the bike gets its due respect someday... All is fine, but the premium treatment you expect is wrong. Just because you have more money in your pocket, doesn’t put you above everyone else right? This is typical Indian man’s thinking and it’s very wrong and I applaud RE for treating all same… I own an inti and 350 both and wouldn’t want to see any difference in treatment.

I own 2021 model, it’s an awesome bike, power & driving experience is awesome, u will love it. All those drawbacks like more weight & little heat, seat etc are negligible, don’t care them if u like just go and buy one, u won’t regret

This is a therapy bike for me. After a stressful day i go on a 100km ride on the highway and its pure bliss ... riding at 100-110 the engine feels as smooth as can be and stress free. It goes to 140 at the twist of the throttle. I did have to change the handlebar to Art of Motorcyle one ...and get a ride on air seat to make the riding triangle work for me. Engine and gearbox - 10/10 Suspension - 8/10 Seat and posture - 6/10 Service and spares - 6/10 Reliability - 8/10 Fuel economy - 8/10 (25 kmpl - Delhi to Gurgaon) Value for money - 10/10 I am eagerly waiting for the Super meteor 650.

Yes , a seat is a problem . However this is an amazing machine I rode this machine 700-800 km a day without any trouble.

Its a fantastically cost effective beast 3.5+0.5=4+ beside outof the showroom you need to spend close to 30-50K bucks to customise the machine for you comfort and I can tell you no other bike in india offer this much value proposition. Im riding backer express from the last one year previously I had TBX350

Definitely underrated. Sale kam hone ka ke reason ye bhi hai. I live in Dehradun, capital of Uttarakhand. We went to take test ride of it. They said test ride is only on request so phone karke ana. Hum log test ride book karke gaye and they said koi bike nahin ayi. They only give test ride when someone buys one. And on top of that they kept pestering us to test ride other models and buy them.

@@atulrwt bro here in kolkata, jab main last year yaha par showroom par gya to mere pas licence bhi nhi tha aur just 4 months ka experience tha biking ka as i m a car guy aur mere bhai ne test ride k liye maanga aur uske licence se mujhe bhi test ride de diya aur dene me bhi bas keys diya aur bola jaha bhi jana ha , chala kar aao.....uss time dopahar 4 baj rha tha aur main 30 kms chala kar aaya 5 bje and even took the test ride bike to 150kmph on highway with ease aur jab aaya to yeh log woh bhi nhi puche ki itna der kyu hua aur even main bike kharidne nhi aaya tha par pata nhi kyu mera interest jaag gya bike me aur next day hi main continental gt 650 rocker red book kar diya kyuki aisa experience kisi showroom me aaj tak nhi mila aur saath me bike bhi akele chalane mila jo ki sab showroom me nhi milta aur yhi dekh kar bike book kiya aur 3 months ka waiting tha aur mujhe bike 2.5 months me hi time se pehle mil gya

@@atulrwt aur iske baad bike me aaj tak koi bhi problem nhi aaya except last month .ain subah bahar nikalne gya to tyre puncture tha garage me.... i was worried ki ab dhakka maar kar le jana hoga par phir yaad aaya mereko bike k saath RSA bhi mila tha , toh maine RE k app se rsa ko phone kiya aur within 20 minutes, RE k technician mere ghar aakar puncture thik kiye....issliye atleast mere liye RE ek dream come true jaisa bike ha for service, experience and ownership

Main problem is the spokes wheel.Royal Enfield should provided atleast an option of having alloy wheel. 2.3 lakh metore is having a alloy even in the base model fireball and no alloys even after spending 3.5 lakhs.What a shame

I completely agree with you @Vikashyogi that it's a wonderful effort from RE in 650 cc segment. And we should not forget that this bike launched back in 2018. Hopefully RE will learn from this product and come up with more practical product ( Alloys,better seats and pillion comfort) in upcoming 650 cc bikes which might be super Meteor, SG 650. I'm a Royal Enfield fan still riding CI bullet and eagerly waiting to update to a good 650 . I love ur videos and value your opinions and reviews. Thanks for creating such a wonderful content in automobile field . 👍

All said right except the alloys option but again u can have it in accessories from RE showroom on personal request. Anyways coming to the point is Alloy & Spoke both are good but Alloy are always considered a anytime better option over Alloy when it comes to touring if u know drop the comment below or i will explain u it in coming timae

Request you to please have experienced people .....The bike and the discussion going on are poles apart.... Did Raipur - Hyderabad at one go with pillion..with small tea break Also Raipur - jagannath puri recently... This is nearly a perfect motorcycle considering the price point...

Being a proud owner of the mighty Interceptor 650 for the past 3yrs I can say that this machine can do everything you want to do if you have skills and for maintenence part it have some mild issues but won't bother you . The best part is that if you use a 1inch handel bar riser ,a touring seat and a set of alloy wheels you are good to go to anywhere. This machine can climb steep inclines at high altitude above 10000 ft without any sweat and you will fall in love with its capabilities .

Riding pleasure of the 650 twins is really awesome but owning Interceptor 650 or GT650 is really too expensive,it costs more than the maintainence cost of a honda city car,the service centre guys neither have the expertise nor the spare parts of these bikes. To find its spare parts and accessories it would be like finding a needle in a haystick. Nor will the owner get the resale value of these bikes. So, future owners be aware of these shortcomings. Telling from personal experience 🙄 even after all these problems one plans to buy either of the 650 twins do buy extended warranty to be on a safer side.

Generally routine maintainance me koi problem nahi ati service centre pe. Aur brand new gaadi ko aur kya maintainance hota servicing chhodke ? 10,000 km service interval diya h RE walo ne INT 650 ke liye uspe 4000 bhi lagte hai to bhi worth hai. Aur honda city se jyada impression INT650 ka hai

Bhai Siddharth CEO hain aur tum sirf ek viewer farak hai issliye. Product mein jo kuch abhi sab acha hai improvements jarur la sakte hain par improvements jo inh tinno ne bataye woh sab useless lagte hain. International Market mein yeh product bhaot sales de chuka hain aur simple management ka rule hain “jo bikh raha hain usse rok ke usme change karne se sirf luksan hi hoga”. Toh tu rhende bhai tu sports bike chala Retro Modern Segment abtak tere liye samaj ke bahar hain

sir i am in the mid 40's and had bought this for leisure riding.....the ones you referred to a paratha riders.....i have some comments that RE completely ignored....or maybe their human factor design experts were on leave during design stage. therez really lots of issues in the design of the bike.....apart from the engine, just everything is either cheap or misfit..... bouncy front suspension, not the best seating ergonomics for indian roads or avg height.....one of you pointed this very well that riding in the city leaves you exhausted .

Hiii ....if you help me out, I am really thankful to you ..... I'm facing a problem with the front part of interceptor a cracking sound comes (whenever bike goes on any speed breaker or potholes in the road)from either the shocker or from T. In warranty shocker has been changed as well as T too... thereafter the same cracking comes....i used to put air pressure 28/32 ...pls suggest what to do..... 🙏

Everything will do for me with this bike.. no bike is perfect not will be... We have to adjust with the things we have decided to live with. Just one thing which restricts me to buy one is.. Tube tires. I personally don't want to push the bike to the puncture wala in the middle of no where.

bro … i did bhubaneswar to mustang in my interceptor…..i think the first interceptor to do that…. i am 6.1 and 105 kg and the bike went wonderfully…. i think people who did atleast 1000 at a stretch can rightfully review the bike not the people who just ride for a couple of kms and review the same

only problem i faced all along is the seat so used an inflatable seat by Grand pit stop and the rest is history.......started from bhubaneswar-went to Muktinath and back......i think this would be a perfect quintessential bike for the riders aiming to upgrade from lower ccs to higher ccs.

@ankit rath: how was your experience in terms of suspension? I own a Thunderbird 350x and am planning to upgrade to a Himalayan / Interceptor. While I’m very comfortable with the Himalayan, I’m sceptical about the suspension of the Interceptor. Also it would be great to know your perspective of the tube tyres.

@@MisterBongo Interceptor suspension setup is average.. no match to Himalayan. I owned Himalayan as well for 3 years so have enough experience to mention it.

Silencer heating is a major problem with this & GT variant. there is no safety guard, since many people not use to of left side silencer, this is very risk. otherwise this is a good bike in this price segment.

Hey guys, very very ground reality review of RE 650. I got a chance to take my cousin's RE 650 to hills in the Uttarakhand (my native) in last week of April'22. Total distance I covered from Delhi & back was about 850 kms. I can relate to the pros & cons of bike discussed in your review. And bike is really very heavy, main stand par laganey mein khud ki lag jaati hae :-)

Hello Vikas bhai... I had a few questions... are we gonna see 500cc twins from Bajaj for the Pulsar line-up??? And I also wanted to know if r3 will come to India.. I'm planning for a twin until June 2023... Interceptor i'm not really sure coz of the weight of the bike.. Any help would be highly appreciated. TBH i watch your videos mainly for the cinematics... :)

Don’t think the updated R3 is coming anytime soon, it has already become more expensive outside India. And bringing an already expensive bike (which it was when it first launched in India) here would cost even more and thus making it a senseless purchase for most. We hope they localise it and then launch to keep its prices a bit controlled. Bajaj, on the other hand, is focusing more on KTM for high segment motorcycles. The duke 490 range is being considered for India which has a twin cylinder setup. In case we hear anything about Bajaj working on a similar derivative of Dominar or pulsar, we’ll surely inform you on the community post.

Mere paas bhi hai Engine oil change and normal Service 2000-2500 ka hi hota hai. Agar koi parts change hota hai to bill thoda jyada hota hai. Mere paas 6 saal se hai, magar aaj tak 4K-5k se jyada kabhi service charge nahin laga hai

RE's new dual touring deluxe (or deluxe touring dual) seat which is wider and scooped off has solved the seat issue, at least up to 300+ km nothing found wrong.

Most Indians never had any access to an “affordable” twin cylinder performance upgradable bike in last 40 years barring RD and Java 350 twin, which were not hits anyway coz of mileage. RE has done a great tribute to the original mk2 interceptor 750 from 69-70 at a great price point. All other global manufacturers would sell their souls to sell their own twin 650s at 1500 units a month in a single country. Did 685 Baroda Jaisalmer run km in one day..using the premium dual touring seat and no complaints at all. Sweetest bike Ever.

The only problem for me is absence of tubeless tyres and alloys, now a days i cant even find a mechanic to repair a puncture in my area. Also i heard taking out tyres disables abs. Only if it came with tubeless tyres which even royal Enfield promised

I have RE Touring Seat and have using for Daily Office commute from Vasai to Mumbai which is 124 kms, also have used on long rides. Heating is not a very deal like Tiger or other big bikes in traffic. But weight and tyre puncture with spoke rims are problems that every owner can relate. But spoke do the off roading really well which I have been doing on Western Highway for 2 years. Rest do not expect like big sports bikes. REST Easy to maintain and ride.

I have been riding this since 2019, and absolutely loved every aspects of it apart from the seating cushioning. There is a niche market for the heavy classic bike in this segment which is why the numbers are low. Agree, marketing end could not level up with the product. Anyway I am happy to own this beauty❤️

With alloy wheels you get tubeless tyres means very less chances of punctures deflating your tubes, means very less chance you need to take it to puncture shop. Its just more reliable in today's day and age.

First of all it's not an underdog at all. It is the best RE that we have since 2019. The way it is priced, it is an absolute gem of a machine that attracts young and mid aged people. Talking about the price point, it is the most affordable 650 cc we have in the market. As per my opinion, it is the best motorcycle in the price point. 650 cc, classic timeless design, decent mileage, simple and to the point with no nonsense plastic parts, very reasonable service cost, what else do we want? And yeah weight of the bike? Is that even debatable considering the fact that it is made of all metal elements. Weight kum chahiye to dusre brands me jao jo fibre use karte hai apne bikes me.

@@ICN But very much more than other 650 cc motorcycles. It is a premium motorcycle, it is not a common go to motorcycle that sells like a commuter (like pulsar, classic 350, or other RE). India is a place where 75% people are still below poorty line. And for the rest if we see, one thing can't be denied, it is a bike that will be feasible to be purchased on loan even with a decent salary. 1500 unit is not very bad, it is okay. The numbers will increase with time. For us indians 650cc is a big bike, but if the same was in foreign countries, this would have been a beginner bike. So there is a mindset within us that yeah this is a 650 cc bike but the accessibility to use that power in our country is very limited. That could be another reason why it sells a little less, not very less.

@@proudindian982 That's what I meant when I said India is still under 75% poorty. And the rest who are earning are further divided into number of income slabs. Under which there are further who are either interested in bikes, under bikes it is either just a way to commute from point A to point B. Very few are those who are passionate for bikes and their finances allow them to afford these kind of bikes.

I saw a video a couple of days back where the Vlogger said that he wanted the classic but bought a meteor because nothing was ever available in the dealership. Everything was sold off as soon as new stock arrived. He bought the meteor used with about a thousand km on the clock because its first owner originally wanted the interceptor but could not get one so he got a meteor. Then he sold the meteor as soon as he could get hid hands on interceptor.

Probably one the most honest video in RU-vid on interceptor 650. I own both interceptor & ktm adventure 390 2022. After buying adv I never take interceptor because in every aspect I feel ktm adventure is better. Adv has liquid cooling with dual fans I can easily ride wearing boxer chaddi. Performance both are almost same but ktm needed more gear shifting due to initial low end torque but we will get used to it easily. Adv costed me 4 lakhs for which I got cluthlesss slipper clutch with auto blipper, lean sensitive traction control, Dual ABS & OFF ROAD ABS, Cornering control, Electronic throttle which supports cruise control wheel, Can connect phone, Got 12v charging socket, Best display screen which shows phone signal, battery, Call lifting features, music Audio control buttons etc. Ktm service & events are far better than royal Enfield. Both the bikes are value for money. But I was disappointed in how royal Enfield treated interceptor by giving bulb headlight instead of LED, no tubeless tyres, bad seats, oil cooling, wobbling issue at high speed, heating issue are some huge trade offs. If someone plans to buy interceptor 650 & is taller than 5 feet 6 just wait & save some bucks buy ktm adventure 390 best bike for touring, off roading, track bike, best for cornering, fully loaded with features. Best value for money bike 👍

Nobody denied it isn’t a good product. It sells less than what it deserves in India, is what we believe. Combined sales of both the 650 Twins is around 1200 per month. It only did better in April at 2100 units. And by no means a monthly average of 1200 units for both the models in the world’s largest two wheeler market is overwhelming. And that is despite the fact that it’s priced really well. Even globally it kinda created the buzz initially and then sales started going down. Not talking about limited editions here for obvious reasons.
