Royal Marines Earn The Green Beret In Front Of PRINCE HARRY | Forces TV 

Not all members of the RM wear the Green Beret ie Bandsmen and women so I think he should wear the same as them not the Green Beret unless he wins it in the correct way it cheapens the Green Beret in my opinion Its wrong where will it end if he becomes a figure head for the Victoria Cross association will he wear a VC its the same thing has not earned it should not wear it

@@Jeffybonbon Given you are not a Marine (I presume) and that those who ARE Marines are happy for him to wear the uniform of Captain General which includes that green beret. His Grandfather was hugely admired by the Marines and never once did Bottom Field and yet wore that beret. So why are people like you so keen to take offence. Too many P.O.Ts about (Professional Offence Takers).

I can only say I know Marines who are not happy about this I am not sure his Grandfathers time there was a Bottom field test I don't have the knowledge when the Commando test came into the Marines I think the first Commandos were British Army But the Marines took over the role Not all Royal Marines wear the Green Lid I don't think the Band wear is so maybe Harry should wear the same lid as them until he passes the Commando Test I admire the RM a lot But there is a principle here maybe Harry could join the RM Reserve and achieve the Green lid out of not because his Granny is the Queen

There is nothing wrong with Honorary positions But in my opinion they should not wear some thing on there uniform which others have worked hard to get Prince Charles never did P Coy either but he wears the Para Wings I have ex marines as friends and they feel the same as me It wrong in my opinion If you notice when prince William was married he wore I think the Irish guards uniform but he wore a blue sash to show he was a royal prince no other guards offices wear the blue sash as he is not a serving officer Harry should not wear the Green Beret as he has not earned it nor is he a serving officer have you noticed his beard again he is allowed a beard because he is not a serving officer Harry should put himself forward and do the Commando course he is young enough and when he wins it he can look a marine in the face and say I earned it too Its a Brotherhood and if he is not in the brotherhood he should wear something else

@Raj Maj Anybody who has been through Sandhurst is going to be very elite. He even did his training for the apache. There is no way they would risk him being up there if he was not capable. Not every Royal achieves these things probably only the elite. His achievements before being honorary were impressive. Officers in the Armed services lead by example and never are they expected to be leading from behind.

Andrew flew helicopters during the falklands war, prince phillip served on a destroyer during WW2 and William flew search and rescue helicopters so our royals do have a tradition of military service. Even the Queen was in the army during WW2, a truck mechanic, very limited service but still a member of the armed forces.

@@si0054 I grew up near Camp David which is the U.S. President's vacation home and I heard from somebody who worked there in the late 90s that they would do just that when the Clinton's would visit during the summer, according to the same person in the fall Hillary expected there to be a lot of leaves on the ground and if there weren't that many they would have to go collect bags of leaves from the surrounding area to put on the ground. I can't verify if it is true or not but this is what I was told by someone who said they worked there while living in a town 20 minutes from the place.

Britain needs special operations and Royal Marines, Para and 63 signal squadron need to be part of that. Otherwise it is massive waste of very talented people. UKSF was the wrong way to go. Because it has created an elite mentality in the wrong way.

Notably the 15th MEU in the last few years. Got a shirt from them, great lads. Their recon is much like ours, underpopulated and underfunded.

I think the Corps will be hopefully a little more careful in future to pick a person who has the Green Beret to be its figure head Harry has done the RM no favours my own view is he is a young man he could have done the RM Reserve route and gained the Beret in the right way and then he could have held his head high and said I passed the course As an officer you should not ask a Solider to do something they cant do I hope you see my point
