Want evidence of the Royal Marine's elite standards? Look at their training. It's 32 weeks long (I believe). That weedles out the unfit, the needy or basically, the undesirables. The Royal Marines (and the Parachute regiment) form what is known as the SFSG. The Special Forces Support Group. So they train and support the SAS (you know, the best Special Force in the world). Also, the majority of Special Force selection comes from either Para regiment of Royal Marines..
Mate of mine from down the pub was a Major in the Royal Marines, he's in his 70's now but the other month a couple of blokes tried to mug him late at night while he was walking the dog... Needless to say they didn't get very far. "I introduced one chap to the cobbles and his companion had second thoughts." Were his exact words afterwards... Legend!
marines are elite versions of soldiers who specialize in multiple scenarios whether thats entering by sea, by air or land. so personally i think everywhere is the perfect place for a marine.
yea yea looks good in practise but dont forget these guys are trained to kill you so in real life i could imagine there being a lot of blood and a few throats being cut.
Quite in Comments! That was some impressive shit. A little basic training in self defence can help everyone especially those vulnerable or those who live in rough areas.
uk RM commandos are special forces as they are trained as elite troops able to fight as a small group or on there own behind enemy lines hence the term commando
in the proper training the more noise u make from being hit from being in pain then they'll hit u again only harder and then again until u stop making any noise from the pain, they literally beat the feeling of pain out of u, its really quite effective. and if u watch some of it the do actually hit the person properly and hard, such as with the bats they just wouldn't cry like u so u feel the need to say its all faked.
Most serving personnel go on to carry on serving...not falling into a downward mental spiral. Your views are the same as if I were to condemn every man woman and child in Afghanistan as a bomb wielding bringer of ill gotten doom. It is clearly not true though, is it? You have a very strong opinion, very biased, what can I say? Nothing, as you are seemingly one track minded. Also British do have values, our grasp on values is a heated topic with immigration into the UK. Research...
PER MARE, PER TERRAM, by sea, by land that is the motto of the royal marine commandos the are the ultimate warrior trained to do war by sea and by land and if getting there means by the air then they are fully trained to do so and more so than the paras because marines can be paras but paras cant be marines. it doesn't mean they have to do war on the sea but you get royal navy personnel fighting in afghan
They do train for commando style operations but due to the nature of the current engagements that they are fighting it its not possible to use that type of tactic so yes they are out there on the front line fighting like regular marines. In a larger conflict they would use these commando skills but its not appropriate in Afghanistan. It appears that you are american how do you come to the opnion that they are not commando's and how do you know how and what they are trained in?
u'd be hard pressed 2 grab sum1s arm in a fight, let alone a thumb. Even if u did get it, u'd b gettin punched. Nd even if u were unaffected by bein punched nd had the opportunity 2 do sumthin with the thumb u miraculously grabbed, the most u could do with a quick movement like the 1 in the video is break it! 2 get them on the ground u'd have to go slow, giving them time to react to the pain and move them to the floor as they try to lessen/avoid it - which gives even more time 4 them 2 punch u!
yes sarcasm is the 1st sign of mental instability... not! Oh ur a man in uniform? hold on a sec whilst i put on my impressed face.. and.. done! So wot does it feel lyk 2 sign away all ur freedoms nd live in a state of perpetual childhood, havin no say in what happens 2 u? I'd be more impressed if u were a child pretending to be a big-boy soldier, at least ur youth wud b an excuse. nd finally the threat of physical violence, delivered secure in the knowledge that u nd i will never meet, chilling.
Looks pretty lame. The Russian spetsnaz hand combat demos are a lot more professional and finer in terms of the skills displayed and the performance aspect. And I have no clue who said that their selection process is so long and hardcore and in accordance with which statistics this assumption was made. There are units within various armies where the selections are so hard people sometimes don't make it alive or can become crippled like in the Israeli Yamam or Russian Red Berets.
@trommbas i wasnt comparing RMs and SAS i understand the roles each play in a war, SAS is special forces, RMs are a part of the Royal Navy. some1 earlier said the RMs had the longest selection process in the world, i was pretty much just sayin the SAS slection is much tougher, harder and longer and i understand this is because they need only the elite, only bout 5% pass SAS selection from the amount that started. there is a reason SAS are the elite and RM are just tough as fuk lol.
@TheJEWSTAINE sas is different from royal marines!!sas is special operation unit!!sas action bsaed in team of 4 or 8 and royal marines in platoon or company!!can u understand the difference and purpose of these units?different training for different operations!!royal marines is usually for direct action!!sas when operates doesnt have logistic support because is in behind enemy lines!and u cant compare them!an sas is operative after the 2 1/2 or 3 years!and they are all professionals!
The royal marines are the best in the world for a reason , and the green beret is feared by all that see it. The americans and the rest of the world no there the best and thats it, however when it comes down to battel it dosn't matter who it is you still have to have maximum respect for who ever you are fighting with. so stop your squabbling and acting like kids and just face up to the fact you want to be a Royal Marine but your not man enough!!!!
Royal marines have the longest selection process in the world. They also have the lowest pass rate of any regular soldiers in the world. This speaks volumes in the silly "who is better arguments". Never the less, the important thing to remember is: It doesnt matter if the marine is American, French, German, Dutch, Canadian, Greek, Spanish or British they are all tougher and more disciplined than 99.99% of youtubes keyboard warriors. Respect to all soldiers past and present.
Hi, have you tried "Musclegend" (search on Google)? There you will find a nice free video featuring the way to build up notable lean muscle fast whilst dropping excess fat at the same time. Steve is among the many men that enjoyed positive results because of this method. Hopefully it works for you as well.
Not quite airborne insertions via parachute is now the exclusive domain of the RAF Regiment! The Paras now fast rope from choppers, as it is a more direct and less dangerous form of entry to the LZ. The only other dedicated parachute force is the SAS's Airborne Troop, but which is typically a small number of operators.
Hey, have you tried "Musclegend" (search on Google)? On their website you can watch a smart free video featuring the right way to gain noteworthy muscle easily. This made it easier for Ryan to overcome his bodybuilding stagnation and thus pack on chiseled muscle mass with no fat super fast. It may work for you as well...
Hardly a fanboy. I live near Taunton near to where their base is and I had 3 Rm come to a class I take for a period before they were deployed to Afghanistan. Nicest blokes you could meet and their story was bit different to the one you tell. I assume you are either an ex RM, know one or have served with?
No it would and does work, it's a martial arts move that I picked up from Shotokan Karate, it's all about the placement of your hand, you get a hold on their thumb and twist away and they can't help but lose grip then all you have to do is twist their wrist into a rather uncomfortable position. Besides it depends entirely upon the person you're against.
while i understand its necessary to learn how to defend themselves, i dont like this kind of display. what they learn is how to fight to the death, destroy their enemy and not hesitate to do so. after all, fighting is their job, and i dont judge that. but seeing people with little clue watch, laugh and applaud to it is a little random.
@killerclown789 there are about 7'000 royal marines and over 200'000 US marines. although the royal marines training is longer (32 weeks as appose to the USMC's measly 13 weeks), the USMC also has elite units like marine force recon which will be just as capable as the commandos. these constant comparisons are childish; they are allies and share a bond of freindship
Mate, i don't deny that "head butt[ing] the fucker and then kick[ing] him in his balls" may be effective. However, reliably blocking punches with your free hand is a pipe dream, as is "plac[ing] your thumb on theirs" in the middle of a brawl. - sincerely, someone who has actually been in a fight.
@LordWellington15 Actually it does come from some one who did 3 years of service in combat units and brushed shoulder to shoulder with some of the guys who served in those forces. The things I said here are coming from actual knowledge and not just empty talking.
OK, I'm just saying that in reality it works I've been in many fights, my neighborhood is rough. I've had someone attempt to mug me 4 times. I can't explain to you over this the defensive technique I'm trying to explain so I'll just stop. Goodbye.
lol i know it's your lifelong fantasy for a guy in uniform to sweep you off your feet, but don't be naive enough to think it could be done that way. Also wow yeah, i'm american and i'm jealous of your marines, you totally got me, go USA.
i only watched to 1.09 - the 2nd move - how to get out of a one handed grab, was absurd. If you expect someone to fall on their arse from doing that you're gonna be sorely disappointed... not to mention the fact you're gonna get your ass kicked
@CoffeeFiend1 i completely agree with everything u jusy said except i know that the SAS selection can take up to a year and is longer than the marines, but i dont know which is the longest in the world... it could be the SAS but i dont know for sure.
I was born in London so im English & like i said before long live our Queen !!! whats thats Alli Babab you keep writing in your comments?? sounds like some horrid disease, you know the likes of Islam * stuff like that
@zone275 Who cares about NATO? I couldn't give less crap about them. I mentioned military units which in my view are among the best in the world. I couldn't care less whether the countries they represent are part of NATO or not.
No you're not because a) I suspect Royal Marines Commandos have much better things to do then watch, comment and do an FAQ on a video of themselves and b) it's pronounced FOUR TWO not forty two.
Thank F**K for that! I only served in Airborne Forces, not for the fainthearted! If I wanted to join the marines I'd have had to get a handbag! I'm sure you got into the Marines no problem with one!
@TRIPPYbugger Royal Marines are pretty much the same thing as the Recon Marines, who are also commandos. There are people out there that think Royal Marines are the same thing as the basic USMC rifle man.
@ukIImyles I assume he's talking about units which you can join upfront. You can't just walk into a careers office and ask to be sas. Well you can but you'll get laughed out the door.
Its a demonstration of some ways they might fight, but obviously they don't want four marines ripping each other to bits to show it, so they are trained to do it safely
lads calm down he's not being disrespectful the para's and marines just have huge rivalry and banter :L i'm not even in yet and i get it off a few ex para's i know haha
@killerclown789 well i'm glad you are not one of them. "Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity". - Martin Luther King
Those guys look like kids with alot of anger. There is not much elegance in their style. Mainly because of the weird kicks they do after they have downed their opponents.
yeah i know he put that but they are not to my disposal and neither my freinds, if he is trying to say they are expendable then he needs to fucking wise up
people need to watch this twice if they think this is what they'd actually do in combat. This was a show (Entertainment) most likly to get signitures from school leavers. The royal marines would do far more damage with half the effort displayed in this panto. But really they have ruthless efficiency with calculated force. But still some of these moves was real cool and more than likly used defo russian style but the russians are mean in H2HC so its all good.
I agree but clearly if you look closely in this vid you'l see that they have some sort of protective thing where they get struck with the baseball bat.
I think i went to that place with the sappers and did a raft race while i was on my officer selection? The far bank and size of the lake looks identical?
His back right foot was perfectly suited for a sweep so if it was indeed that way it wouldn't have been to hard to floor someone after they grabbed you.
BRITTISH ARMY overwhelming force with ruthless efficiency. oh and to all the smack talk about the royal family us britts really couldn't care less about them they spend more time in others countries and we see her once a year on tv but only the older gens watch her speach. britts have bad teeth hurts us more lol
This is why Military personnel who are intelligent seek higher levels of training. This is how you get killed. Even for the sake of demo purposes, the techniques are sloppy and so unrefined they should not even be shown to anyone who they wish to benefit, as again this is how you get killed. Not that all attackers are skilled, assuming military position its safe to assume you may be put against attackers who are also trained. In any of his positions of attack entry he could be lethaly neutralized due to lack of secondary hand tracking. Is this the best the military has to teach is subordinates?
Not to mention his body positioning on any take down doesnt account for any secondary attacker period, no friendly aid (this is why grappling doesnt apply as well in real time scenarios as well as it does in a ring, as its not isolated to a 1v1 scenario or rules") Grapplings the easiest way to waste strength and take away limb useage. He should be demonstrating complete control of the single individual while retaining his eyeline on the battlefield, this controling his zone still, being able to take aid from allys (weapons etc) or load an ally up (ammo aid etc etc). Also allows awareness to real time threats that are not the single individual etc ettc. When shit hits the fan you amount to reflexes and what youve trained thousands of times will show itself. These habits are poor.
joe atkinson Oh okay. My mistake. Because it is for children, I suppose they are not allowed to show demos that actually include high level refinement, as well as taking good training drills and making them entertaining for the public. Youre telling me that because they are doing their demo in front of children, they are feeding them shit which isnt useful combat wise and hardly entertaining (the main reason it is entertaining is because how silly it looks, im sure the children would agree). I doubt their training level has sank to this level based on who they are giving the Demo to, however if they intentionally did due to it being for Children, it shows what kind of respect these military personal have for the wellbeing and training of our Youth. I dont believe I am an idiot for pointing out some very large issues with this video. I think you are the idiot for thinking improper technique that can get you killed should be demod to kids just in the name of being entertaining.
+Treize Khushrenada proper technique has a high chance of injury (some exercises more then others). they are not teaching the kids how to fight, its mean to be fun for both spectators and commandos. They are Royal Marines they know what they are doing. so just be quiet thinking you know more about it then you actually do.
