I really like your channel. It answers many questions I've long had about RNZAF WWII markings. Definitely distinct from the Australian ones! 🙂

Thank you Malcolm for a very informative video on a topic that has caused a lot of discussion over the years.

Thanks for the positive feedback Zac. I'll do a more comprehensive video once I get my RU-vid experience levels up a bit.

An interesting topic paint colours, especially when trying to decide what they actually are from black and white photos. But I agree with your take on it.......I better as I bought decals for my RNZAF TBF from you ha ha! 🙂

The "blue" is almost impossible to be 100% sure about, so every model is "spot on" ;-)

Whole picture used is quite blurry, but then cleared. Thanks for posting detailings about what colors go where and all. Hopefully all goes well with the restoration.

Inquire with the RNZAF Museum in Christchurch. They have the Grumman TBF Avenger that was once displayed at Te Rapa AFB here in Hamilton. It was painted as it was in WWII.

Green growth or zinc chromate showing through?

A worthwhile question Michael. The report of green growth is based on personal inspection of the junk yard by members of our NZ Aviation Historical Society in the 1950s and 1960s. So yes green growth.

A mixed blue. Could be a dulled cobalt
