This fly has always been a challenge for me, and to be honest I've just quit using it for that reason. After watching your excellent video I feel inspired to give it another go!

@10:27, OMG, I can’t believe I’m going to teach Charlie a tying trick- if you wet the floss as you wrap it, there won’t be any frayed floss hairs. You’re welcome, Charlie 😂 BTW, they should have named this fly the “Royal Pain in the X”. Nice job, Charlie! 👏

Another nearly impossible tie made to look like child’s play by Mr Craven once again! Definitely reminiscent of the Bloom Caddis - which caught me some big beautiful rainbows on the Beaverkill. Many thanks.

That was an Amazing tie. Probably one of my favorites that I’ve seen you tie. Yet your instructions are concisely articulated so that us new folks aren’t afraid to attempt tying this pattern. Mega Thx for your continued work spreading your gifts of knowledge to this wonderful sport

Love this one, CC! Like Bloom's Caddis, this one reminds me a bit of Larry Kingrey's Papa Ape, a great low riding hairwing parachute. Thanks for the elk hair hot tip.

I’ve just started really getting into proper dry flies over the last year. I can tie an almost flawless parachute Adams down to a 22. This video probably had like 30 years worth of fly tying hindsight to it. Great video. I think my next big purchases will be looking into some more varieties of hair.

Charlie, I have your original instructions for this fly printed out from your first web-site. Must be 20 years old. It will be interesting to see if your changed techniques for tying this bug. I must say that your first online Charlie's Flybox was the best ever, I guess a lot of that content on old patterns is lost forever? This was one of the first attractor patterns that I used to fool large cagey snake river cutthroats whew I moved to Wyoming many years ago. Royal was my favorite but ones utilizing a red & purple floss body are great too!

I have tied 100's of dozens of this pattern back in the 90's through the early 2000's. Orange and chartreuse bodies were my favs for this pattern and best producers. It is a wonderful attracter pattern. I like some of your tying techniques such as running the tail fibers all the way to the eye and your method for tying off the hackle. I would if anything use slightly over sized hackle as that would help insure the fly landing right side up.
