The Princess Bride! A very good movie, totally worth seeing. Characters are well drawn out, plot is interesting. The humour is done with a light touch that one rarely sees now. Lots of puns The tone of the movie is a slightly twisted fairytale, with the charactersshowing in varying degrees a kind of streetsmart, worldly weariness that you will also see in the new Dungeons and Dragons movie starring Chris Pine. The Princess is kind of naive, written so as a contrast to Snow White and Cinderella who were at least active and paying attention.
Yes!! Where did this "Uncle Jimmy" junk come from?😲 The boy clearly says *"Grandpa"* several time. Makes me not trust anything else said in this video.😠
I have always loved this movie. I was 13 years old when it came out and wondered about how awesome to have a love like that. This truly a wonderful and magical film with comedy too! I also love Iñigo’s line. I still know it by heart. My name is Iñigo Montoya you killed my father prepare to die! Hahahah
During lockdown, the surviving cast did a script reading as a fundraiser. Fred Savage, originally the grandson, read the part of grandpa and Josh Gad read the part of Fezzick the giant. Idk who did the grandson. Peter Falk played grandpa in the movie
Cary Elwes filmed a lot of the movie with a broken foot. Andre had a quad atv to ride around the set. He had a lot of chronic pain due his giantism and injuries from his long career as a wrestler. He offered Cary a chance to ride it. Cary drove it a few feet, hit a rock and flipped it. He caught his foot and it was broken. They had only been filming a few days
This film is so charming. It has something for everyone, appealing to kids and adults alike. Whilst kids can enjoy the choc o' block action/adventure, adults can laugh at the clever comedy (full of puns) of the film. Not only is the film well scripted and directed, it has a wonderful cast. Robin Wright and Cary Elwes are an adorable couple but I do have a soft spot for all the talent appearing in both brief cameos and/or supporting roles such as Mandy Patinkin. Thanks for the great recap, it brought back some lovely, nostalgic memories of the film, making me want to see it again.
The entire cast had a ball making this movie and it showed. Andre The Giant was perfectly cast as Fezzick the giant. May Andre rest in peace and dream of large women
While filming the scene of Westley, Inigo, and Fezzik on the castle's parapet, Andre the Giant let out a 16 second long fart that brought filming to an abrupt halt. Rob Reiner as him if he was okay at which Andre replied with "I am now, boss!" Cary said that they had tinnitus for a week from his fart in an interview.
When filming the scenes in the boat, Robin was very cold. So between takes, Andre would put his hand on her head. His hand was the same size as her head. Robin said it was like a hot water bottle and would warm her up
This is *NOT* the story told in the movie!!😡 "Uncle Jimmy" is the boy's grandfather. The girl wasn't born a princess. The Farm Boy was "killed" by the DREAD (not Dreadful) Pirate Roberts. Buttercup becomes engaged to the PRINCE, not the king! I stopped the video at the butchery of *INIGO* Montoya's name, not even 2 minutes in. You have shredded the most perfect fantasy movie.
Framing story; Grandpa was reading the story to sick grandson. At the end , when grandpa is leaving, grandson asks grandpa to come back the next day and read it again. Grandpa turns, takes off his hat and says “as you wish”
