How fantastic is it to watch the remeberance day march past?. Full of pride for all our service members past and present... especially the royal corps of signals.
😀😀 this is the best I have seen in a long time. Hubby was in the Signals intake 79 80..he was at ouston...I just showed him this..all nightmares came back..
Great vid I’m ex 2 Troop (second to none) n loved seeing it how it was when I was there. Look back on it with fondness, but as they say I don’t think I would of wanted to go thru it again. Obviously when the cameras weren’t there the REAL training was done.
@@johnlindsaycollins hey brother, nearly spat out my drink to see I had received a message from a fellow 2 Trooper, I went through in 1989 about 3 years or so after you. Looking at your videos you seem to of had a very similar career to myself. After basic & 8 sigs I was at first on the Div circuit & did the majority of my tours from there.
Brings back some memories may 20th 1992 intake, I remember my permanent status, Lt Mcappin, Sgt Giles, Cpl's Malloney, Behan, Dorman and one just slipped my mind, I'm 56 now, I would do it again tomorrow if I could reverse time, sadly time travel wasn't one of a lineys skills, CERTA CITO
Liney...haha Most were solid. Funny later as it was called Dvr Lmn as some of these Biffs worked in the mess. Even the so called " combat" Lmn wasn't anything to do with combat. Just a joke.
1987 Ulster troop. Cpl Webb & Sgt Tough... Wow MEMORIES!!!! Running up & down telegraph hill because someone got something wrong, then down again because the last man wasn't quick enough lol. I spent a bit of time in that shed at the side of the parade ground , struggled with the about turn if I remember right. The times we came back from a run & found all our stuff in a pile in the middle of our room.... Wow I can't stop smiling. If I remember right our dining room was split in two the ghurkas were on the other side. Hope Cpl Webb, Sgt Tough & all the lads are all ok, fit & well...
I did my basic training there in 1989 and I was rubbish at drill and I was in that bloody shed practising turning on the March and slow march, everything else no problem, did you know cpl north and Sgt carr, and how they are ? Regards jnr signalman, parker
I can’t believe I have just found this, I was Battleaxe troop June 88 intake, passed off in the December. It brought back so many memories especially the parade ground and that bleeding assault course😂
The memories this brought back are great! I remeber being beasted by Corporal Goodson on the log race... absolute nightmare! I was Iron Troop Sep 87 intake
Ex Junior Leader from Harrogate, 86c intake, Bradley squadron. Did all this in the film, typical recruitment film though as it obviously doesn't show the beasting's you got in training lol
If only the army can make more of these recruitment videos. Wanting to join the signals and I hope it will be as good as what they say it will be. Can't wait
Did my Staffies Course at 11 Sigs around this time. Remember watching a basic training troop running past us as we were forming up for our morning run. We set off about 5 minutes later - boots, denims, 35lb webbing, helmets and gats and passed them about 3/4 of a mile into our run. It didn't get any easer as you moved up the ranks, lol.
Were you the April 89 intake? I was in iron troop Sept 88 to March 89.....the worst months to be stomping across the moors. We also had Barry, goodson, Mcleish and dear. Goodson was crazy
Junior soldiers at Catterick? 6 months? i was there in 88 for 9 weeks in 2 troop. Oh I remember the abseiling and sailing though. I remember tea and biscuits that Scotty Sherrard used to bring to our bedside each morning as he sang lovely tunes to slowly wake us up/...... wtf 🙄
I was at Harrogate, intake 84A, Bradley Sqn. All i remember was when the permenant staff cleared off at night, the Apprentice NCOs were left in charge and thats when the real bullying began! I saw people hung out windows, we were beaten with broom handles. Who can forget the game of bed pack walls, were you got beaten black and blue, and the lovely game of solar plexus! I believe our Apprentice SSM tried to take his own life when he got to his first posting to BAOR. He was a psychopathic narcissist. I left the Signals after seven years having tried to transfer a number of times, but never allowed, as I had a 'trade'. Pretend soldiers.
@@hicallmelucas4856 yeah the radio relay world is pretty small, & it certainly was the same timeframe I was in, I don’t know why but I’m sure he lived or came from up north as I may of given him a lift home from Germany once?? If my memory serves me well.
I transferred to the R Sigs & it was the biggest mistake ever. Absolutely crap. I remember full screw Techs who couldn't control a section attack & basically useless 😂 The Royal Signals Officers were just like figure heads with no real jobs. 😅
