21 years to the day, after the event. I have managed to find the video I took and upload it for all to enjoy.
The video shows the falling in of the regiment prior to marching to the main square in Lippstadt town. The march onto the square, The inspection of the regiment by The Master of Signals, Major General Archie Birtwistle, The trooping of the regimental colour, presentations, and march off.
The regiment at the time comprised of:
HQ Squadron with HQ support elements such as REME who where a vital part of the regiment.
officers, men and women of One, Two and Three squadrons.
4 (Jacques) squadron assets had left the regiment and its troops amalgamated into the other squadrons.
The quality of the video has been impaired due to age and conversion to digital medium.
For those who where there, I hope this brings back memories of good times and friends.
cheers, "Franz" Doyle.
to answer the question about SLRs I do not believe that any new equipment was issued to the Regiment prior to disbandment.

Excellent video. We were in 22 1980-83 but always had very fond memories after we moved on. Many thanks for posting this. Nigel

As an Ex RNZSigs. To see troops parading in SD uniforms and carrying SLR brings back many memories from my time in the New Zealand Corp of Signals.

Great to see some old faces, I got out in the May so I missed this, 3 Squadron the best bunch of lads to have ever known.

This is brilliant. I was the RSM on parade that day and have never seen a film of the parade until today. Well done for uploading this, it brings back many happy memories of our time in Lippstadt. 22 Signal Regiment has reformed and is based at MOD Stafford, where it is about to be joined by 16 Signal Regiment and 1 (UK) Division Signal Regiment. These Regiments are returning from Germany as part of OP BORONA. I finished my service as QM with 22 Sigs, here in Stafford.

Martin Doyle Hi, I am looking for footage of my Dad (Fred Kirk) he was RSM of 22 signals in Lippstadt around this time. I have studied this video a few times but cant spot him? After Lippstadt, we left Germany & then he was posted to Sheffield. Thanks

Hi Stuart as you can see above Gerry knight states he was RSM on the day, maybe he can shed light on your dads where about on that day?

Unusual to hear the quick march 'Old Comrades' ('Alter Kameraden') played as a Slow March but it was nevertheless fitting for the occasion. Good also to see the late Maj Gen A C ('Archie') Birtwistle CB CBE DL (one time Commanding Officer of 7th Signal Regiment, Herford and eventually Master of Signals) late Royal Signals as Inspecting Officer. John Oakley (22 Sig Regt Aug '66 - Feb '67)

Great vid... But quick question why are they still using SLR's if this is Sept 92?

I was indeed the final RSM of the regiment prior to disbandment and in the video I can be seen marching at the head of the parade and cutting about with the CO, Lt Col Ken Hadfield and the inspecting officer, the Master of Signals. I must admit your dad's name rings a bell but not in connection with 22 Signal Regiment at that time.

I remember this sad day and the weather was truly awful.I was a civvie by then and can tell you all that 22 Signal Regiment was sorely missed in the town. The place is virtually dead now like a ghost town in fact.Believe it or not Russians are now living in Churchill Barracks !
