Royales are one of the hardest tricks to learn but will be your easiest trick later on. You’re not trusting your backslide foot. Be solid on it and lean forward like a banana shape.

Thanks, I'll give that a try🙏💯..... and you're right, I'm definitely not committing to that back foot.

Banana shape is a good advice, never thought of that term though 🍌😄

I watched with the sound off so I'm not sure if you mention this at all...but learning in a flat object like a ledge might help. I've recently re-learned royales, it took a while but recently they have just clicked again. I probably land 8 out of 10. Stall them, get comfy in the position and it is a full on commit thing for me at least.

Hey man! I think I can help a lot with this one if you let me try 🙂 STEP 1 (not really necessary but it will make the trick easier and much more safe to do): If you don't own a frame with antirock wheels you could use, just remove the middle wheels from these frames. Flat setup royales are almost a pro level trick if you ask me. STEP 2: Before even trying the trick you should really consider the way you're going to land it. In my opinion you should try landing it fakie. This will make it much less likely to fling you on your back. STEP 3: Hit the ledge/rail with your royale groove on the skate rather than just your frame. By missing the groove in the first place you will need to adjust your feet, your body and your arms in a really fast way which makes it far more complicated. This will come naturally later on. Extra tip: your helmet straps should be connected otherwise helmets sometime fail their purpose. I hope this helps! 🙂 Edit: I just noticed on your other videos you were doing backside royales on that side too. There are only handfull of people who do BS royale and FS royale on the same side. Not saying you aren't one of them but think about this for a minute and maybe try it on the other side.

These are all great tips! Royales took me a LIFETIME to learn. I am a skater from the 90s and the 8 urethane wheels on the ground made it impossible for me to learn how to royale until the plastic anti rocker was created. I learned how to stall the position with my backslide plate locking in each time... once then I started to practice rolling into it and doing short grinds. I still cannot backside royale very well if at all.

grindwheels is cheating.. if ýou use it, ýou have to learn EVERY trick TWICE

Much respect for uploading your fails! 👊🏽 You got that bro! Put all your weight on that back foot and trust your boot! I just learned bs Farv and that was a weird one for me but once I got it locked on it felt amazing! Get that shit! 👊🏽

I agree with a previous comment. Anti rocker, small wheels in the middle or no wheels and u probably can do it easy. Those wheels are rubbing the ledge. And when theyre not youre down so far you are sliding out. Get comfy anti rocker on a flat circle rail, then ledge, then if u want to go back to 8 wheels it will be more natural

Keep going mate. Good work. You got some good tips in other comments but some important point are keep your eye on the lock-on point until you land, keep your shoulders over your front knee, get your boot against the rail/ledge and then immediately turn your head to look at where you want to go and ride it out.

Thank you🙏 You're right. There were good tips. I discovered my dominant royalle foot is my left. But my sole foot is my right foot. 🤷‍♂️ I blame the 2015 motorcycle wreck. I'm not complaining. They said I'd probably have trouble walking the rest of my life. Shows what they know.🙃 Sure it hurts, but that won't stop me from having fun🙌😁 You have any tips on what I'm doing wrong in my switch up videos? All help is appreciated💯🙏

@@hollowandfaceless8993 " I discovered my dominant royale foot is my left. But my sole foot is my right foot" Same for me :D(If i consider dominate the same foot as you do haha) If i snowboard or slide on ice i put my left foot forwards but sliding on rails with inlines i wanna slide right foot forward. Backside i also go right forward. Soul, right foot. Unity right first. I consider my right foot the stronger one tho. Guess i'm all over the place :D

40 ýears old 90ies agressive vet from germaný here 😊🤗 i can distance teach ýou. steal a rail.. laý it on curbs with a handrail where ýou can hold on to. slam the lower end in the ground for fixing it. get reallý exactlý in ýour position. melt ýour muscles in the position. relax in the position. opening the cuff a little bit helps a lot (thats not cheating, grindwheels IS cheating...) roll on, ýours mario 😃

rail is easýer to start than ledge (in germaný we call it all curbs)

Best advice I can give you is make sure your head is over your leading skate, and bend your leading knee towards your back skate. That will help you balance it out a lot better. It will look badass!!

Royales were one of the first tricks I learned back when I was 12 years old. Now I’m 38 and I can barely do them. In the occasion I do manage to get my backslide groove down my knees just crap out and will be screaming for hours after. It’s a hard trick.
@hollowandfaceless8993
@hollowandfaceless8993 Год назад
I know what you mean. If I don't stretch well and get warmed up first, my knees buckle like I'm trying to squat to much weight. It's mostly this right leg. I don't have the issue when I switch to my left foot, as the royalle foot. I guess age is catching up to me😅
@alexwild1435
@alexwild1435 Год назад
Yeah same, it’s just my royale/topside knee that doesn’t like boning over any more. I’ve come to accept it and just do soul grinds haha

Get that boot down on the back foot and just ride on it. Push down on the boot hard and balance your weight wherever you feel it needs to be.Visualise grinding on the boot not the frame. Commit and go for it.

Are these skates comfey an wide in the front or na ?
@hollowandfaceless8993
@hollowandfaceless8993 Год назад
They take some getting use to. The intuition liners don't feel like any other liner. Honestly, I didn't like them at first, but after the 3rd session, they're my favorite liners. The toe is average,(whoever thinks these are wide boots hasn't tried razors) and the boot is formed, not flat, so it can give some arch issues if you have flat feet or fallen arches. The boots are stiff, but I can still get boot down. I think the rigid plastic makes you bend more to get into grinds. You definitely can't do 'sloppy' grinds with them. If you want comfort, I recommend Razor SL's with a MyFit hi-top FatBoy liner. That's my roll around setup for comfort.

Man, why do you start on an angled ledge? You crazy. 😂 I'd say start on a flat ledge or low flat rail. I personnally had hard time with the ledge (with no coping on it), so I started with a rail. My first steps were about 2-3 months ago, and I thought it would take me a year to get it. Eventually, it became smoother and I can finally grind ledges, but it was not until last week! (I don't skate more than once a week) So, ledges were the worst for me because your skates can't grab/stick on the obstacle like on a rail. It's scarier on a rail, but hell, anything is scary when you start royales!

your not low enough for the royale. you have to bend so far down the wheel isn’t catching. your trying to get away w stand up royales. that doesn’t fly on ledges
