Probably one of Tread’s biggest success stories. Left hander throwing absolute gas with five amazing pitches.

Also gotta credit our minors with the added pitch. Completely transformed him. Our best pickup in a while. Pickup Chapman off the trash heap, decent year, and dump him for who is now our number one SP. Perfect.

When people or analysts etc…describe a ball, “exploding” out of a pitchers hand, this is the definition of that. And making it look effortless also 😧 have fun future batters

pumping 93 indoors and no cleats is just insanity. no person should be able to do that but there are many people who can.

Is this saying hes only going to take 10 days off throwing after this final pen work? Maybe i misunderstood that last conversation. That seems so short to me but im sure its player dependent to a huge degree. In college at the end of a season id take 30 days off before getting back into some light stuff and then another month probably before anything too serious! I guess my arm needed more of a break than these studs do and i pitched maybe a third of a big leaguers outings! I never really stopped workint out but id throw a final pen and then shut it down!

He's programming 10 days of zero activity. Then introducing some plyos for patterning and working back up with minimal effort throwing. Will onramp from there. We're not very big on extended shutdown periods and have found that many athletes are healthier when they keep the arm moving in minimal capacities and then onramping rather than a complete shutdown for a month and then trying to work back up from zero.

@@treadathletics very interesting. I graduated in 2016 so I am sure the understanding of off-season work has improved a tremendous amount. So much info on each individual's body these days helps an incredible amount. I pitched in the SEC and we had some pretty sweet facilities for the time but I watch yours and other channels and things have changed a whole lot. Our facility would look like a historical site today but 8 years ago it was top notch. Our trainers and pitching coach were big on taking those 30 days but certainly when you came back from it you felt like you hadn't thrown in a decade. Took a long time to ramp back up for sure.

Plenty of different approaches and obviously varies athlete to athlete. We certainly have some tenured big leaguers who have been taking a month plus off every offseason and will continue to do so. Depends on a multitude of factors such as workload, offseason focus, etc!

Rangers trading him for Aroldis going to be one of the worst trades in Rangers history. Especially with how unpredictable Aroldis has been down the stretch. If he was pitching great in this postseason an was integral in getting Rangers a title, then maybe it was worth it...but as of now that aint the case
@LildreProds81

not really the worst trade in history i mean the kids still a pup. he has straight gas but we still gotta see what hes made of when games matter more for him who knows how he wouldve did pitching the matchups montgomory and eovaldi have faded. i like him a lot tho wish we couldve made it work

@LildreProds81 I'm saying in Rangers history...if Ragans is anything like he was the last two months of 2023 going forward..he's going to be in the Cy Young discussion next year

@@protexroofing5939Rangers World Series Champs 2023. Poor Ragans, he couldn't be part of that great moment, and now it's stuck with the Royals who aren't contending anytime soon. That's the part about being an athlete that sucks. You never know when you could get trade to a bad team and be stuck with losing.
@danielhernandez7922
@danielhernandez7922 5 месяцев назад
The rangers realized they can’t develop young pitchers and traded him. Washed Chapman was good for us in the postseason (look at the #’s) but yea, this was an all-in move for a deep playoff run. We won the WS so all is forgiven 😂

@@samuelsandate9804Remember what you said when the season comes to an end. MLB Network's 30 teams in 15 days-Greg Amsinger picked the Royals to finish second in the Central while Yonder Alonzo predicted they will be top dog in the Central during the last week of the season. I think I'll listen to them. LOL Yes, the Royals were bad last year, but that was last year. This is practically a whole new team.

@treadathletics

This was his last bullpen for the year if you noticed the convo at the end. The point of an exit pen is to track where he's at when he's at his best, so we can ramp him back up to that point in preparation for Spring Training.

@@treadathletics how long a break do you think big leaguers take? I saw an interview with barry zito years ago he said he completely stopped throwing for only 2 weeks all offseason. couldnt believe it.
@treadathletics
@treadathletics 7 месяцев назад
It's different for everyone! A few of ours are going to take a month. Some take two months. Some take just a few weeks. Also need to keep in mind that throwing in the offseason doesn't just mean max effort pens. Many guys stay off the mound and just keep their arms moving for a bit before ramping back up on the mound.
