In 2011, Princess Kate and Zara Tindall tied the knot with their respective spouses, Prince William and Mike Tindall. Even though Zara Tindall was born into the Royal Family, she was not given the extravagant wedding present that Princess Kate got more than 13 years ago. Kate and Prince William tied the knot at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, in front of millions of fans worldwide, and the two women were wedded after barely three months apart. Then, at Canongate Kirk on Edinburgh's Royal Mile, on July 30 of that year, Zara wed her longtime partner and professional rugby player Mike Tindall. Elizabeth, William's late grandmother, bestowed upon him a unique honour on the day of his nuptials: she named him Duke of Cambridge and named Kate his Duchess. But because of a very particular royal tradition that dates back several centuries, the Tindalls were not given this title when they got married.
