Boblo was sooooooooo much fun growing up. EVERYTHING that Royce said can and does apply to anyone who went there! The boat ride was SUPER fun! You tried to kick your tightest game to a chick you like. But if you strike out, there's always the ride back. By that time you seen and talked to other chicks. It was also the best when you went with your crew. DAMN I MISS THAT PLACE!!!!

For me, this song is one of the best rap songs in recent times and I am surprised by how little impact it had. Today I listen to it again and my mind continues to explode.

Love the reminiscent songs! J. Cole is the man and a master at taking you back. Spot on that he's relatable. It's funny watching this because you guys describe the hood and how things were and it sparks memories of my own childhood. We all have more similarities than we know and music is a conduit for that no doubt. I didn't grow up in a suburb but it wasn't the projects either, somewhere in between I guess. But we dealt with all the same stuff - no money, drugs, weapons, violence, etc. I think every generation needs a few of these songs. Great find!

Ayoooo the video is back lmfaooooo. Last time didn't get a chance to write something tho but now I do. Royce and Cole slayed that recored really well and seeing it done by class rappers of different breed and of different eras really shined for me. They both vividly created pictures and images through their words one simple the other complex but the complemented each other on the same beat and I really liked that a lot and this song is going in my playlist lol. Big ups to Royce and Cole and Good Looks Lost In Vegas for the upload man.

Boblo Island was a theme park island on the Detroit river. You had to take a big ass ferry boat to get to it. Those of us who grew up in Detroit remember it well. Also the voice at the beginning of the video is mort crim, a famous news anchor here in Detroit that will Ferrell sites as inspiration for anchorman lol

When you went to Boblo riding the Boblo Boat was half of the amusement park experience. The boat was the one ride everyone had to ride! Hustling to Stevie Wonder on the ride back! I miss it!

The Boblo Boat took Detroiters to Boblo Island. It was a 20 minute ferry ride from Detroit. It closed in the early 90s and used to go there in the summer.
