@@djnes2k7thats not necessarily true, a lot of famous hip hop albums of the past, even those like Illmatic don’t go nearly as deep as Kendrick’s albums, yet they are still overhyped. Illmatic is an amazing album, but overrated by most hip hop fans. And don’t forget its been 10 years since FHD and the message of that album is still helping and healing people today, and the streams are only going up if we’re talking number, thats to say that Cole does have longevity. Sure, his feature run right now will not have an impact on music or rap in the future, but his album The Fall Off will probably be rendered a classic and be remembered in the future, whether its because of the hardcore rapping and concept which has made older school albums embedded in history, or whether Cole goes deep on something like he’s done on other albums like FHD, 4YEO or KOD. My guess is that it will be a mixture of both.

@@t-real9054No.. I don’t think thats how it works. If I flipped the script on you, let’s say J. Cole drops the Fall Off and retires, then Kendrick drops a Goated album and we say he’s better than J. Cole, you would then make excuses, defending that he retired. I’m a Cole fan more than a Kendrick fan, but your reasoning doesn’t make sense. Kendrick hasn’t gotten comfortable he’s just nearing the end of his career drops less frequently. Dropping 1000 songs per year won’t make you seem hungry, you’re just putting quantity with little quality. Lil Wayne drops an insanely large amount of features and songs per year, but after the Carter 3 era he hasn’t gotten as much attention from them as Cole is getting right now, because unlike Wayne, Cole doesn’t just jump on every rapper song he wants, and when he does he treats his verses with a lot of care and makes them meaningful. If you really follow this way of thinking, you could even argue that Drake is better than both Kendrick and J. Cole. I think you get the point.

LOL that's only cause of 2 reasons. 1, they don't promote lyrical MCs in the mainstream no more. Mainstream rap today is mostly 304 Thot Rap, Rage Rap, Melodic Autotune Street Rap, &, Drake.
