It’s more nuanced, Brits were exploiters and came for riches, but they didn’t come to destroy or for evil. The greatest atrocities in Indian history are all from Islamic invaders who came to destroy India and Hindu Dharma. Brits are overplayed in textbooks because of nation building reasons on the part of the INC and their Marxist orientated allies amongst the intelligentsia.
Watch Syerra Narsimha Reddy and Manikarnika to know how worse the Britishers actually were, they used Indian women from rural and tribal regions as pleasure women for their soldiers and generals and lanlords.
People were gushing about the symbolism in Parasite!! RRR too has many scenes that hv symbolism but it's not the Parasite kind( commentary on real world situations) but rather symbolism that is set in the Movie itself and commentary on the characters. I can go on listing out at least a dozen of such shots if not more!! and this movie achieves all this within the envelope of a blockbuster filmmaking without being Boring for a second!!
I think symbolism really goes deeper than rrr and parasite , especially rrr .I think symbolism in its true essence is in the film " prisoners"or any tarkovsky move
Comical depictions of colonialism are easiest for western audiences to digest, and honestly Indians too. A true and honest look at colonialism from the pov of those who really suffered, and still do, would make you want to gouge your eyes out.
You haven't seen enough Indian cinema if you think honest look at colonialism is not explored in Indian cinema. This is one of the only comical and most rosy Indian movie in the context of colonialism. A very honest real story of Sardhar Uddam Singh, without the stereotypical musicals, dance or physics denying action, with top notch cinematography and story telling, released an year before. But our Oscar committee didn't send that movie because they didn't want to hurt the sentiments of English people. Even this comic of a movie that reinforces all the stereotypes of Indian cinema was also not sent for the same reason.
FYI, RRR story has been written by SS Rajamouli's father V. Vijayendra Prasad. He is one of the legendary writers not just Tollywood but the whole Indian cinema has got.
Man, it's been 9 months the movie got released.. but the love for this movie is only growing.. Am sure RRR is the most loved Indian movie ever. Great narration of the movie btw!
I will beg u to watch it in theatre with original language and english subtitles. I regret watching it on netflix because this movies is perfect for theatre experience.
7:35 motorcycles in Those days were intentionally made lighter to make them easier to carry around. It probably weighs around 60kgs. A man that can fight a tiger can easily do that...i guess.
I just watched this movie over the weekend on Netflix and I absolutely loved it. It’s such a fun watch and the story of their friendship is so pure. It may have been 3 hours long but I was fully vested in all of it and actually wanted it to go on! It should have been nominated for more than Best Original Song for the 2023 Academy Awards…. Best International Film perhaps?
me bro. I was living outside AP and I was sick during its theatrical release 🤧. My friends watched 2 times while I didn't watch even one time in theatre.
OMG... Man this movie has no limits... It's already been 9 months since it's release but woww.... The appreciation this movie is getting form every corner of the world shows how masterpiece the film is .... 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
RRR is an acronym for "Roudram Ranam Rudhiram," which can be roughly translated from Telugu as "Anger War Blood" or "Fierce Death Blood". It also implies the 2 protagonists and the director of the film "Ramcharan, Rajamouli & Ramarao" or even as to follow the original title's alliteration, "Rise Roar Revolt."
There was a time when people ridiculed South Indian movies and artists for out of box action scenes, emotional dialogues and for other mundane reasons. Often stereotyped as unworthy to watch. As time got unfolded Bahubali was released Pan India and it changed that stereotype towards south indian movie industry. Years later RRR changed the entire manner the way people view Indian cinemas, south in particular. I should really thank everyone who appreciated our movies and for the love that's being showered these days.
Not actually;; those critisicm of (not out of box actions but cringy action) were valid. And to say bahubali changed people's mind is wrong cause there were many good movies from South were dubbed in Hindi which were superhit on television for example:- I. Allu Arjun was already way more famous here even before release of bahubali.
Over the top action can b made a bit more realistic without losing d drama/poetry. It would have gotten even more famous. The villains r also comically villainous. If they could’ve been done a bit more realistically, it’d have been potent.
@@RojaJaneman The whole idea of "over the top action" is that it is not realistic. The main reason why over the top action in Telugu movies are working now and not before is primarily due to budget. Budgets of most Telugu movies before 2010 were miniscule. Most movies were made for less than 10 Cr. Bollywood used to have budgets 3-4 times as much at that time. If you have enough budget and capable technicians, you can make all the over the top action look very cool and hyper stylised instead of them being cringe. This is exactly what happened with RRR and why its action worked on global level. It is over the top, but it comes out as hyper stylised rather than cringe for the most part.
The hindi version is done in their voices . The actors dubbed in 4 languages so it's their voices. Netflix was supposed to do the telegu version but changed their minds.
I am an Indian and I watched this movie in April in theatre, it was amazing experience. I would recommend community watch for this movie. It add to the fun.
I felt the hindi dub loses nothing at all. The original actors have dubbed it and their voice and performance is not lost on some underpaid dubbing artist!
Ofcrz only own fans insulting the efforts they were so excited as they dubbed in Hindi for the first time fluently and without accent it's commendable n Hindi has original voices of most cast
Both Ram and Bheem are modern historical figures as depicted in movies but they are also inspired from ancient historical characteristics of Shri Rama (from Ramayana Era) and Mighty Bheem (from Mahabharat Era) that's the reason why Bheema can lift motorcycle because according to Mahabharat, Bheema can crush mountains and 🐘 with his single punch. And Rama dressed liked that statue (idol from where he gets his 🏹) of ancient Indian Rama. You should read the lyrics of song playing in background music in last forest battle. That score describes the characteristics of both ancient historical figures.❤️❤️............,.
Also, to make it logical, motorbikes in 1920s were purposely made lightweight so they can be lifted by soldiers and taken across rivers (during WW1). Its not an explanation needed, but its still a fact.
It’s just that Indian film have the culture to have intervals in half way through ,that’s why you would have felt the portion of flashback slow ,but it’s ,meant to pick the pace after the break And also songs are used for quick montages and it is a promotion material too (to an extend )
Montage depiction by songs (there were 2 songs in RRR which had montage). But using songs for montage makes me laugh. Jump Cuts are used for the montages. Or a stutter shot can be used too. Songs, LMAO
@@vivekkparashar Watch people who hate it? Umm... What are you taking me for. I don't watch people. I watch movies. I don't hate RRR. I always say that it has done it's job very well. But my problem is with people who say that RRR is the best movie of 2022. I can name 10-15 movies better than it.
@@suXses LMAO... Going by your words, popular=better? Obviously arthouse cinema that you haven't heard of is better than commercial cinema. Even Avatar is more popular than Taxi Driver. But the cinephiles know Taxi Driver is better. It's your turn now to sulk in the corner.
He actually put the numbers related to Magadheera across Yamadonga!! The budget and collections across Yamadonga match Magadheera’s details. Frankly Yamadonga is Rajamouli’s weakest movie.
My sir, you have now brought over the entire Indian audience with this video and we will like and share this video to all out friends. Have a good day, sir
@@vivekkparashar Haters can cry shit... Ok bro. But please just help me to understand why it was 29 on BFI list of best movies of 2022 (they include movies from.every country and RRR wasn't the best Indian movie on their list, that privilege went to All that Breathes). Why does Taste of Cinema ranks RRR at 20. Obviously Aftersun is the best movie of 2022.
For those who are sad that you all were not able to hear the movie in original language (telugu) don't be sad cause the hindi dubbed version is also dubbed by the main characters both the actor personal dubbed the movie in hindi so basically you heard them in the hindi version too👍
This guy needs to watch the film again, because the flashback part is the backbone of this film...I mean, why would they need to rush for no reason...? If u had to kill your father to achieve your goal...then only the Ram's character stands up.
This was a great review. I especially appreciated when you said certain things were above your paygrade. Movies are movies first, then you can peel down the layers based on what you know. And when we Indians barely know enough about our densely complex country and history to get it all.
Indians don’t know much because they are purposefully not taught about any of it. If the history has to peel down the layers, you’ll cry rivers for years.
As a hindu I was just awestruck to see the first time symbols of Shree Ram on such a big movie where they aren't abusing him but rather treating the subject with love and respect. All bollywood movies have been doing it which is the reason general hindi movie goers have boycotted them completely.
Please watch Kantara. Other biggest hit in India in 2022.. Again, it needs different mind set for foreign audience. Need to appreciate pagan core concepts. There are so many layers in the film, all seamlessly woven into a compelling story
I don't feel the same pride as you. Probably I'm not an Indian despite being a Brahmin... Oh no... Wait. I know why I don't feel anything. I'm not a patriot, rather I'm a patron of arthouse cinema.
@@vivekkparashar Thanks for those kind words. I was just trying to take a jib at how they associate patriotism with cinema but you here my friend, seem as serious as the fifth act of a tragedy.
@@Kieslowski1989 I did not say pride.. I said proud, I was proud that Indian cinema was appreciated by other countries. Im sorry if It was offensive did not mean that...
@@bharathkumar1585 Bro... Your English is ok. Mine is too. It feels proud. I feel proud. But I feel the same pride, not the same proud. And it was a bad statement for cinema. You're taking every praise that comes in your way while identifying yourself as an Indian.
@@karthikb4613 this isn't even like yours was a smart-ass response. It's literally the truth. The declining popularity of Oscars will bounce back if RRR is involved.
Man Sardar Udham was so dark and depressing. Amazing movie still. You could feel the inner sadness of the revolutionaries, especially Udham Singh, throughout the entire movie. One of the most underrated movies I have seen.
Great review! For people especially foreigners who want to see things in this epic movie that they may have missed on account of culture, history etc. do see 'RRR Movie: Reaction Review Analysis'
Your description of movie and its taking is like watching the movie overall once again..its definitely a movie worth watching again and again...thanks for the review
The movies got a heart 💚.. Its like Indian LOTR..friendship, quest, war, etc.. All with good camera, good cgi, good acting and character and music.. Rjamauli was limited by exposure to technology but he got vision. He will do better next time for sure
Though Original Telugu language is not available on Netflix. However, Hindi is the optimal language for RRR. The reason being it's setup in Delhi (hindi belt) and most importantly it is the only language where all 4 important characters- Ram, Bheem, Sita and Venkat raju (Ram's father) have dubbed for themselves. No other dubbing have all of their original voice, not even Telugu...
*After all it was dubbed movie in whatever language you watch the movie it is dubbed if u want to watch it in correct lip sync watch in original telugu. The people who don't understand Indian language have to watch in telugu and yes Netflix doesn't have telugu version that's why they are watching in Hindi as simple as that*
Original version is Telugu. You can't change that. All of them talked in Telugu with lip synch. It's ajay's inability to learn Telugu that he only talked few words unlike Alia Bhatt. She is better than Ajay Devgan as she has the will to learn few Telugu dialogues.
Few great pieces of Indian cinema that I would strongly recommend you to watch: Vaaranam aayiram(best 'coming of age' genre movie made in India) One-Nenokkadine (one of the best psychological thrillers) Pyaasa by Guru dutt Vishwaroopam by Kamal hassan ( Kamal is encyclopedia of Indian cinema) Maryada ramanna by SS Rajamouli (Buster keaton's Our hospitality adaptation by rajamouli) Peranbu Ankur Kantara Satyajit ray films Pudhupettai Onaayum aattukuttiyum( maybe watch all Mysskin's movies) Gharshana
Bad depiction of Indian Cinema. Agree with some while strong hate for others. Lemme recommend the same kinda list. Satyajit Ray films: Apu Trilogy, Jalasaghar, Charulata, Devi, Aranyer din Ratri, Shatranj ke Khiladi, Agantuk (if you're into cinema and want to know how great is the director praised by Martin Scorsese, Akira Kurosawa) Pyasa, Do Aankhe barrah Haath, Mera Naam Joker, Sangam, Do Bigha Zameen, Bandit Queen, Satya, Salaam Bombay (for Hindi language cinema with a serious narrative but some are full of songs) Shyam Benegal movies (Manthan, Ankur, Nishant, Mandi to name the ones I've watched). He is the closest director from Hindi language to Satyajit Ray and he's still miles behind Satyajit Ray. Govind Nihalani is a good alternative to Shyam Benegal (Ardh Satya, Akrosh, Droh Kaal, Tamas). South Indian cinema... Check out works of Adoor Gopalakrishnan, G Aravindan, Sibi Malayil to know about arthouse cinema of South India. Or if you want some good stories, you can check out Mysskin (self proclaimed student of Akira Kurosawa), LJ Pellissery or check out the commercial directors I don't care about. Finally some hidden gems of filmmakers from India. Chaitanya Tamhane, Ritwik Ghatak, Girish Kasaravalli. Check out their movies. BTW, name your favourite movies @Girish Chandra
The actors themselves dubbed the movie, so even though you're not getting the original Telugu performance, you're still getting a performance from the original actors.
This was the only video I've seen, and I've seen plenty in the past few days, that mentioned Netflix not using the original Telugu. I had mostly no idea until I read an article and then the mismatched lips made sense. Netflix should have made the better choice. But I'm glad Spotify has a bunch of the songs in the original. This was my first Tollywood movie but it is likely to not be the last.
Its sad that indian movies has always been classified as bollywood. Now that bollywood veil is lifted... More people could enjoy other indian movies. All thanks to netflix and amazon prime which actually revolutionised the movie scene in india.
There are so many equally good movies as RRR in Indian cinema but sadly they dont have the reach and popularity which RRR excelled at and all credit goes to SS Rajamouli. Do checkout his older movies like Bahubali 1.
