I think this is the first video that I've seen where you have given the impression off not being happy with a new gun. Thats good reviewing Andy. You gave the positives where you could, but called it like you see it.
I can't help but think of the Snowpeak PR900s Gen 2 that you reviewed on this channel a few weeks ago which had equal accuracy at the same distance, made more power and costs £250. I actually bought a PR900 based on your review and words genuinely cannot express how impressed I with it, it's an absolute delight. It's light, powerful, cheap as chips for a PCP Rifle and so accurate it's genuinely difficult to miss! Makes me wonder why anyone would bother buying something like this P3? Cheers
Just to add the pr900 has tons of aftermarket accessories and replacement parts and is a very easy rifle to work on and to repair. Imo it has a great price to performance ratio that a few high end rifles don't have.
You took the words right out of my mouth. I would prefer the budget rifles in previous reviews for the money I have an air arms s410 and would be happy with any of the budget rifles based on the reviews.
I can't lie they really don't have equal accuracy . I use a p3 for benchrest shooting and longer range outdoor stuff and after shooting both guns they are leagues apart.
The old adage. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Comes to mind. I think my choice would be a good secondhand prophet 2. Yet another fair and balanced review. Cheers Andy. 👍
My P2 FAC out the box was very troublesome. Huge speed spread and leaking firing valve. 2 different valve styles sent from RTI didn’t fix it but I have to say they were trying everything to help. I even made my one valve which was a bit better. However they sent me a p3 valve which fitted in the P2 and it works very well. It’s now amazingly accurate and the best bunny brasher I’ve ever had. I guess I have a P2.5 so best of both guns.
Love the channel! But going to disagree with Andy on this one. I have a P3 Compact in .22 with Vector Optics Veyron 6-24 scope. It feels quality as soon as you pick it up. Mine is producing 11.8 ft/lb and is like a laser in terms of accuracy. Knocks the socks off my BSA R12 CLX pro. Once shouldered the rifle feels well balanced and I find the adjustable cheek rest very comfortable and I am using standard mounts. The side lever is super smooth and I love it. I’m no expert on air guns but I’ve owned a few now and this is by far the best I’ve had so far! Each to his own but thought I’d give my humble opinion
I have the p3 performance with new generation pressure regulator, working hammer regulator and slug barrel. I added 2 plenums and so this rifle is deadly. there's no point in doing a review on an entry level. the p-3 performance is truly an excellent rifle, powerful and precise. I am very satisfied.
I’ve just handled one of these in the local RFD, and while I respect Andy’s views I may not share them on this particular gun. It felt very good when lifted into the shoulder, if you need you could fit some higher mounts, but if felt a very well made gun.
Wow! I've never seen you so disappointed about a new gun! I had thought about buying the P-3 but after your video I'll be thinking long and hard about it. As another user put it, if it ain't broke don't fix it! Cheers Andy..👍🏻
Butt plate does not fall off 😂, Iv got the p3 performance compact and can assure the butt pad seals on perfectly, you only take it off to access the hammer, which i don't have to do because mine has the wheel adjuster, yes its a bit weighty but i kid you not it feels a solid piece of engineering like most European guns
With so many positive reviews on this channel it's reassuring to hear you criticising a product that's not quite up to the mark. Great upload as ever.👍
I can't help but agree with Andy's criticisms here and the fella in the comments who quoted the old adage "if it ain't broken don't fix it" has hit the nail right on the head,,
Several RTI variants at our range, very accurate but also very troublesome with several having problems with regulators, valves and power output. Not one of the owners feels that they got value for money. Shame given the alternatives at a similar price level.
Goood morning Simon! How are you today? Having a fine day over here - even though being quite chilly (+1°C) outside this morning. What you think of todays rifle? Would you pay £1200 for a bit of kit like this? (I wouldn't..😂)
@@brorjordas1979 ...😃hey , i`am doing better today , thank you so much .. Glad your doing ok , Wow nearly a frost then for you brr .. it`s 7.40am here and 16c n cloudy .... It`s an ok rifle ? nothing fancy .... I would like it a lot more say around £ 500 😁 Got my FX crown for shooting today , if it` doesn't rain ... Have a fab weekend ! Cheers
@@simonnoble7589 Yup. The car was more white than grey this morning..🤣 Took a while for the windows to defrost.. The time to throw lots of cash on heating is slowly creeping upon us once again..😖 Yes. 500 would absolutely be a more suitable price for this one. Dunno..when looking at it, it kinda looks a pistol with an insanely HULKed up pistol brace!🤣 And the front "barrel" probably mostly consists of a moderator of somesort?..😆 did not catch up if was or not - but assuming so. And that bigass tank looks ridiculously fat when comparing to the slim line of the rifle (that I noticed when the camera view was kinda from up/side.. Not for me. Seems as a slight step backwards somehow.. Thank you! You also have a brilliant weekend! 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Yes, the barrels are dofferent. The old one only shot pellets well. The new version kicls ass with slugs aswell. Sode by side I see no difference with pellets
To be honest I’m pleased you have come out with this review as sometimes the impression is that every gun you handle is fantastic. Not knocking your reviews, coz if we didn’t like them we wouldn’t keep coming back. But as you have said before, if you have nothing good to say then don’t say anything, however, that stand point doesn’t help us guys either shortlisting something or spending lots of cash and then finding it’s not so easy to live with. A good honest review where a company has taken on board what you have previously said but failed to carry it out with any thought. Thanks Andy keep em coming 😃👍
The point of a review is to describe a products features to advise potential buyers. There is no point being nice about everything. An occasional bad review is the mark of honesty.
@@thewrongbike7709 I believe that’s what I said? He does have a habit of just being nice about all the guns he reviews and skims over their failings. This is a better review.
As a Left Hander it seems to have a few negatives for me, better options for the money I think, Thank's for a no nonsense review Andy, I'm sure the makers will be bleating at you soon with something like you got the wrong rifle to test 🤔👍
Good honest review as usual Andy,I was looking at buying the prophet 2, but was put off heard quite a few problems with the assisted valve I thought I'd wait for the P3 to come out but after watching your review I don't think I will bother with the P3!
I have the new P3 in 177, and would not recommend it to anyone, the power is 10.2ft, and sometimes over 12ft, with Bisley Magnum 10.6gr, I intend to take it back to where I got it from and exchange it for something else, it was not from Vector Air either, but Andy did have a look at it when he was in the shop one Saturday morning and was not impressed with the power one bit, Thank you for your advice Andy. I do agree that the p2 is better.
The hammerspring wheel is useless on a sub12 Prophet and not very useful on a full power gun either as regulator pressure is how to mainly adjust the power on guns that has the pressure assisted valve. Not too keen on the cheek rest either, would rather have something similar to what's on my Lelya 2.0. A slim plastic cover with neoprene on it to add some comfort, the adjustable picatinny rail was a nice upgrade though.
Just to let you know that I've worked on one of these and the FAC version also doesn't use the power wheel at the back. No changes were recorded what so ever. The guy at RTI told me that the valve behaves more like a binary valve than the normal ones. I don't know if the pro series with the adjustable reg. changes anything but on the standard that wheel is useless.
A lot of money for a seemingly flawed gun. Accuracy is one thing but you have to like the gun and at the price of the superior version you could get quite a nice .....car😂 Thr Diana 34 you recommended some weeks ago I bought and that is a proper tactile thing which sits next to an old 35E, with which it seems to share the quality DNA.
What a good looking rifle it looks like its built like a tank. This is my type of rifle I have a fx impact m3 and I have spent nearly $1000 extra just to get it to shoot better. This rifle looks like you could throw it on a back of a Ute and it would still shoot straight and maintain poi. And another thing come to Australia then you will know what hot Is.
... and the championship winning Prophet performance was NOT a standard production model... lets say " unfinished"... the shroud was open at the front😂😂.. still awesome gun.. i've got 1.. Prohet 2 had or have some problems with the reg creeping and somthing with the valve.. P3 I dont know.. But I think the RTI Mora is going to be F'n Awesome!
Just shoot without the cheek rest. Or if needed just insert a couple of packers underneath once you have the height needed. Butt pad, a bit of velcro or double sided tape. Job done. Also bear in mind you are using a sub 12 strangled rifle. Hammer adjustment disabled. Uk limit! Yes we all want perfection out of the box. Not lately though. Everything is a compromise. Accuracy, that's what counts.
Love the open, honest, and transparent reviews. Just wondering if on some reviews you could do a full fizzy pop can penetration test. I know it might be a bit immature, but it looks fun in slow motion. Keep up the good work.
The P3 Compact comes in a case that is too small to add a scope to the gun ! Mine was over 12ft Lb and as stated the hammer spring does not adjust power - it is a tuning aid for the New valving system so doubtful that it will be effective at sub 12! Also had a blast of air every shot from the Breech (common on P2)?
I hope you can get your hands on the Epoch PCP made here in the USA. I live about 30 min from them and really need to make time to go check one out personally. BTW Andy who makes that nice fill whip on your air tank you have there under the bench please???
Unfortunately, brands started to follow Dayst anything and prices started to become a little beyond the possibility of making regular upgrades... Any pcp nowadays already costs 2 large ones or we have to go to Chinese brands with quality control problems .
Sometimes wonder if rifles like this are tuned in the factory for accuracy. You could quite easily find after it’s been bumped up in power to just under 12 it could lose accuracy compared to what it is now- just a thought. Thanks for all the info.
The power adjuster wheel shouldn´t be called a "power adjuster wheel". It´s an adjuster for the balanced valve to find the sweetspot where it opens - to get superbe consistency. RTI did shoot them self in the a** calling it a power adjuster. Power is adjusted only in the regulator on FAC models - no where else
The false claim on the box should be cause for concern all round. Turns out it really was. When manufacturers make changes and additions that clearly dont benefit a product but continue to push the project out, thats a warning sign that theyre trading on the reputation of the previous design rather than listening to people testing it. They seem like really obvious things that shouldnt be happening. Specifically the butt plate falling off. At £1200? Really? I suspect this one isnt going to fly off the shelves if the other reviewers are as honest. I think Andy has actually been quite generous with the plus points what with there being so many negatives but thats why im here, because I do think overall hes fair. Personally I'd have had to make a much bigger deal over that price point for a rifle that literally wont stay in one piece, but then im not on RU-vid or putting all the time and effort in Andy does to bring us these reviews.
Only just got used to the look of an FX impact, but this looks a mess!!. For the price there are a lot of decent second hand guns around. A second hand FX impact for one, with a few extras.
Hi Andy I got up close and personal with this gun at the Doncaster shooting show, I loved how it felt, I am definitely interested in purchasing one of these in a fac licence format, good review 👍
Not for me this one don’t like the look and especially don’t like the bare metal, airgun designs in some cases are just getting ridiculous, give me wood and day of the week, Andy any chance of doing a video of the Air Arms pro sport and the TX200 HC?
I don't think I've ever watched one of your videos where you have been so disappointed..... It was actually hard watching, not the usual pleasure I get from your reviews.
This thumbs down is not against you Andy , love the videos. But this gun is ugly and no better looking than the P2 so what's the point and probably costs you more yuk 👎
Much the same in all aspects of society - too much marketing hype getting in the way of good products just being good. Consumers are gluttons for the 'new and improved' when the products are rarely substantially new or improved. I'm sure its a great gun but is it really worth the cost when a twenty year old springer will do the same thing in essence?
