Agreed i run 3200 mesh and my ram is 3800 cs16 and 4.9 might be slower than 4.8 due to power draw of that chip. Per core overclock and 5ghz may work for 6 cores, with the rest at 4.7 for certain benchmarks. Have fun wirh hours of tweaking.

To be fair, they never said the cards weren't better than the 10 series, just that they weren't enough of an increase to warrant the prices. People are still interested to see just how good they are, regardless of the price.

@@xpodx 8k is a lot more than 4k, 4k is only 8 mega pixels, 8k is 40 40 mega pixels. we are close to 8k 30 fps.

This would spit out about 20fps max in 8k. Someone should test it with the Dell Monitor.

More pixels so less screen door effect, it is sharper and you don't really need AA at 4k, and at 8k I think AA will die. Were talking 33 million pixels at this point!

RGB is so you DON'T need to care about lights, just set it to blue and forget about it. Now if suddenly, for example a GPU appeared, that had only GREEN leds, that would completely ruin the look of my system and i would not buy a GPU like that for that reason alone, not as long as there are other options.

Me too! I've had 580->680->780->780ti-1080->1080ti all reference cooling. Loved to tweak bios and undervolt these to make them more efficient, and quieter. Sadly pascal doesn't support bios moding and needs to have msi afterburner installed to make custom voltage table and more aggressive fan curve.

This will still be around, because some builds rely on them... i guess they'll just not boost at all, and be loud. but i think we'll see them at some point (like we also see "Mini" cards)

@@maj429 I think you misunderstood, he wants the 1080 ti SLI to be compared to the 2080 SLI, not the 2080 ti SLI. The 2080 has comparable single card performance to the 1080 ti, which means the comparison will give a more accurate picture of NV Link vs SLI Bridge performance difference.

Yes, it's expensive, but this is cutting-edge for the consumer market. He did just take a couple of world records, after all, with a roughly $6000 - $7000 USD setup. That's actually relatively cheap for a truly top-of-the-line computer, historically speaking. I'm 35, and I can remember when I was a teenager an apex-level system would run you several times that, and that was back when the dollar was actually worth more than it is now. Of course you don't need anything close to this to enjoy gaming, even at relatively high settings and resolutions (my i7-7700 non-K and GTX 1070 setup still does everything I want it to do), but if you want to have the best of the best in anything, you're simply going to have to pay up.

Cutting edge is only expensive because there is no competitive market for the GPU's. I will stick to my 1080P gaming for now because the price when compared to what I get is not something I am willing to pay. But by all means if you want to go ahead and enjoy.

I'm not going to be buying anything remotely close to this any time soon. Number one, as mentioned, I'm happy with my current setup. Number two, I'm grateful to be doing "okay" financially after working for 18 years, but I'm not doing "drop $7000 on a new rig when gaming isn't even my main hobby" okay. Yes, AMD getting their crap together would help bring prices down some, but as I said, top-end systems have ALWAYS been expensive, and are actually significantly LESS (I wish I could use italics instead of caps... sorry) expensive than they used to be. It isn't the fault of the current state of AMD vs NVIDIA that cutting edge costs a lot. You pay "bleeding edge [or early adopter] tax" with top-the-line ANYTHING - computers, cars, guitars, tools, heck even sewing machines. That's just life.
