I am not sure it is possible in a lot of cases, also small PSUs might be pricy. 3050 6gb does the work for that niche -> it transforms office pc to entry level gaming pc for under 200$ without any headache.

@@ivanvladimir0435 If you have an old office PC that might not be an option due to the proprietary components. These days you can buy a used Dell Optiplex with an 8th gen 6 core i5 for like $150 and slap in an RTX3050 6GB to get an ultra budget gaming PC that runs most staff.

@@daniil3815not the best APU maybe as iGPU but laptops have better ones for years... is just a disaster for gaming thinking on present and future, is just the call for old hardware to be retired and recycled, that's all... the moment you increase settings is sluggish, slow, stutter... all over the place... 64 bit ddr5 is just to slow and shared memory is just worse than unified or discrete onboard fast gddr6... use RivaTunner to slow down your GPU memory bandwith to 128 GB/s (can check using gpuz) or slower (76GB/s for ddr5 4800) and you'll see what huge bottleneck 780m, who plays at lowest settings+ FSR?

Bruv Nvidia replacing the 3050 8gb with 3050 6gb in my country keeping the price almost the same.

The 3050 mobile was originally 4gb, they just recently upgraded to a 6gb version last month, so just imagine all the people who got screwed into buying a laptop with 4gb vram.. their was never an 8gb mobile version of the 3050 btw, only desktop...

@@justinhalen2126 yes but according to me laptops are the worst thing known to mankind, you can't swap and replace any parts you're just stuck with what you buy so whoever is buying the laptops should know these facts and then buy. And why would there ever be an 8gb 3050m when there wasn't even a 3050ti or 3060m 8gb version? Only recently in the 4000 series are laptops comparable to desktops otherwise laptops were always crap compared to their desktop counterparts.

The joke is that 1060 6gb and 3050 have only a 50$ difference in recommended price, 300$ at at the start vs 250, but 1060 3gb even cheaper, only 200$ 😂 Why suddenly the most budget card in the line cost from 250 and now from a little over 200 dollars is not clear, i guessing "ray tracing tax".

Basically, let's say you need a decent gaming PC. You want a CPU that you could use for 4-6 years, but right now you can only afford a really good Ryzen 5 or 7 series CPU with no money for a high end discrete GPU. Then something like an 8600G or a 8700G is pretty much perfect for using for about a year or 2 without a discrete GPU until you can afford something like a RX 7800, RX 7900 or even a 4080 since anything lower than an RX 7700 or a 4060 is a pretty pointless upgrade from the 760m and the 780m in the Ryzen 8600G and 8700G. It's a long game thing with these G series Ryzen CPUs. Quite thoughtful of AMD.

No, it consumes only 100-120W but it displays two times because the program separates gpu and cpu, even though they are in the same package.

Are you a Robot or just another shil? 8700G is most expensive entry-level 2024 cpu ever... I wouldn't use it above 45W AMD config TDP (real 55 to 65W) in any case, this is just the workhorse loew power pc to work and to mild 3d at levels of rx6400... as impressive (but useful for a niche of the market) as Sempron or Celeron cpus...

The 680m is available in laptops with 6 core zen3+ CPUs, I don't know why they cut it down so much in this gen for the 6 core model.

1660 super will surpass 3050 6g easily in rasterization, and we don't talk about ray tracing with 3050 6g since it just can't handle it at all. Dlss is useful but it doesn't worth over $50.

And considering you could build a 3050 6gb system on an AM4 platform that performs like this for around 500, it's really not that bad, though it probably would be better to just got with the 20 dollars more rx 6600 LOL. Also, to build an 8700g build on par with the one in the video you're probably already spending around 600-700 BARE MINIMUM. You need 1. Overpriced as hell CPUI for 330. 2. stupid AM5 motherboard. 3. crazy fast ddr5 ram because these APUS flop without it (6000mhz or higher... oh and at least 32gb) like it's honestly wild. I don't know why people are going ferel over these. Even the ryzen 5 8500g isn't worth building unless you're going for really small in an Inwin Chopin

@@mymrmelon3503 3050 is a trash value product, not a bad product, to build pc like that you wouldn't need ryzen 7700X, more like 7500 if anything, but considering pricing i'd probably even go 13100F or 13300F class product, and pricing of DDR 5 is getting close to DDR 4, so there's no difference when building new, it's more cost effective to go AM5 when going new, if you're going used then AM4 would be way to go and you don't need insanely good ram speed, just OC them, get good 5200-6000 kit and get them up to 8000, just go with good brand that uses hynix single rank

agree. but all test hardware should be factory default setting. otherwise it pointless in make comparison, because OC may cause issue or damage to hardware and most people use default setting anyway.

Around 2017, a friend offered a 4790k for $100 and I went to that, also scored a gtx 1070 for $100 that same year. In 2020, I wanted to see how ryzen was, so I moved over to a 3600 and scored a 2080super just before the covid craze. Last year I had some people interested in buying my 970 and 1070, as they were just sitting here so I sold those off and, traded my 3600 to a friend for a 2200g and some cash (a close friend wanted to upgrade his father's PC, thats the only reason I traded the 3600) and upgraded to a 5800x3D. So that 2200g went into a second build in which that same friend also supplied me with a free kit of ram, 16gb CL16 3200mhz. I had a long path getting here, but I'm pretty happy. And it made me want to have more fun with PC stuff. Trust me it wasn't easy getting the money for this stuff, but in the end things worked out.

get a intel cpu and nvidia gpu for 99% stability, believe me you wont regret it, i bought 8600g last month keep getting bsod and unstable, amd doesn't care

The upgrade will be massive. Just don't buy an Apu if you have already a gpu. I suggest a r5 7600 or a 7600x. Even if is the 8000 series, they perform less in terms of cpu power.

It isn’t, the 3050 is using less power yes but you also have CPU power to think about. When combining that, it’s using the same or more power than the IGPU. The igpu also doesn’t need external power because it’s all in the APU It’s also not meant for budget gaming, it’s an insanely niche product for anyone who doesn’t want external power connectors for a bad price.

It works in OEM systems that have a 300w power supply. Kind of like the GTX 1050ti or GTX 1650. The exception is, most OEM systems now come with a 240w PSU, which really isn't enough for any of these -75w cards.

Yes it is on par with 1650. But still it depends on the game. In some situation 1650 can pull ahead due having it's own VRAM and higher bandwidth.

That's not correct. The report on the overlay for the 780m is the power consumption of the entire 8700G package. The overlay is basically reporting the power consumption twice.

CPU & iGPU power close each other cuz it's linked to one sensor, basically just pick one of this and compare to combined CPU + GPU on the right, 780M system use slightly less power.

@@m8x425 i'm absolutely correct. Most of the 100 watts of power reported on the left are due to the igpu, the cpu part uses even less than on the right due to the framerate. 780m is certainly using as much power as this "3040" if not more but gets comfortably worse performance.

The 3050 system uses 120w-140w The 780m uses 100-120w - I wonder how it does undervolted

It is the whole package CPU+iGPU using up to 110W. I would say, it is something like 15W+/- for 780m and the rest is for 1 threads up to 5.1 GHz CPU.

That next APU probably need DDR6 to come to PC first. The 780M is more or less just the same as 680M. AMD did not push things higher because the GPU will still going to be limited by DDR5 RAM.
