This was very helpful. I've been trying to find a benchmark with a 4070 and a Ryzen 5 7600x at 1080p. I know this isn't exactly it, but I feel like this video is giving me a good idea of what kind of performance I'll be getting.
If you have a 1080p monitor you could use dsr to scale up to 1440p or 4k when bottlenecked in some games to make it look better at least until you can get a cpu upgrade
So, should I keep my 5600X for now or should I upgrade to 5700x or 5800x? It's the limit of my budget right now, but I would have to prefer not to upgrade tho. I hate spending so much. I'm going nvidia for work purposes so.. and since 4070 is the cheapest on the line up of team green right now.
those framestimes scare me they shouldn't be jumping like that. when you pay $600 for a GPU and u want to play a resolution lower then its intended for, you expect to have 0 problems. This video showcased there is problems with this combo. No point getting the GPU intending to get a fluid experience just to be forced to turn down the settings because the stutters break all imersion within the game. u might be able to stay on am4 for now just check and see if a ryzen 7 is in your budget and if there isn't strange jumps in frametime. 60fps = 16.6m/s of frametime so you dont want to see any spikes or anything past 20.8/ms would be lower then 48fps which would be under the freesync premium range so you would get tearing and other problems
I have the same specs as you, only with rx 6600 xt. I'm planning to upgrade my gpu to 4070. it will look good even though there is a slight bottleneck. Btw great video, Keep it up
@@Ufasas theres quite a bit of frametime stuttering its the only thing that concerns me with the pair up tbh. the overall usage isn't a problem but the individual cores could be struggling and we cant really tell because he hasn't got each core on display. U would have to compare this GPU combo with another higher cpu if it is the 5600x that is causing the problem.
Can you do this test with the same specs (4070 + 5600X) but in more games at 1080P? Much more games have come out like Palworld for example and a few of the games you tested here have been updated and perform different now, especially Cyberpunk 2077. Would also love to see Cyberpunk 2077 with RT OFF no DLSS 😁😁
@@kukuleleTheFinals grx bros tengo una r5600x pero quiero cambiar mi 2060 a una Nuevo por que sólo tengo 6gb de vram necesito algo las poderosas ahora tengo que hacer un build nuevo 🤣🤣
Just bumping up to 1440p the gpu will be the bottlneck. For having a 4070 it makes most sense to not go with a better cpu but go with a higher res monitor. You want the gpu to be the bottleneck, and at current gen you mind as well be at 1440p even in multiplayer games, the visibility is worth the tradeoff. Maybe pros still play at 1080p, but pros still play at 4:3 too. I still get 300ish fps in Siege Max settings TAA and 165fps in MW3 HIGH with a normal 5600 at 1440p.
@@shadowseven wow, I use 5600 and 3060 ti and my fps is not that high in valorant, yours is always without dropping from 400-500, the one goes to 250 and sometimes it drops from 240 :( game in low with optimized pc
@@GcontrollerG Only 200mhz clock doesn't make all that difference, I already tested the 5600 at 4.9ghz and it wasn't like that at the time, but today I can't test it because of the motherboard
if i went with Ryzen 5 5600X...should i paired with RTX 4070 (expensive) or RX 7800 XT (cheaper)? both of them are Asus TUF GPU and the price differences are $50~$80
@@fartingfrog5269 forumlarda okduğum kadarıyla dsr açman lehine oluyor hoşuna gider mi bilmiyorum denersin dost darboğaz söz konusu olucak 1080pde tahminimce ama yine 4070 düşünüyorum 12 gb olduğundan ki ileride monitörleri değiştiririz en kötü

I’m hearing a lot about the bottleneck which seems to be a big deal but i’m doing the new NZXT Rental thing and i’m coming from my best computer being an i7 9700 and 1650 combo so I could care less about losing a couple fps when my last combo was really bad 😂 (it was a laptop btw)
go for 4070 def. Not that much price difference and u´ll get performance on the level of 3080 or so with the latest features and driver updates to the future..
@@therealDL6769 You will be fine with 12GB for the foreseeable future as long as you plan to continue gaming at 1080p. At higher resolutions it might start getting dicey in a few years, but you will probably be okay still.
Also everyone chasing bottlenecks around forever. Don't forget about ssd space, so many games 100gb these days. Many new games are abysmal loading off an hdd.
I have a R5 5600x and 4070, it seems to be a bottleneck for me at 1080p and if you look at the video his GPU usage is low at some games and it's causing lag spikes, at 1440p it seems to bottleneck less, you can check his pervious video, if you cant get a 1440p monitor than I would upgrade to a ryzen 7 5600x or ryzen 9 5900x for 1080p and you probable want to stay away from the 3070 and 4060 in 2023 because of the 8gb, your best bet is a 4070 12gb or rx 6950 xt 16gb the amd card is more future proof and its also better at gaming but pick one based on your own needs hope this helped
@@maxwrld101 dude so thank you. Now i have 650w 80+ psu is this enough for rtx4070 and r7 5700x? Bcz if i buy r7 5700x my budget is ending. But i buy r5 5600 or 5600x i can buy 700w 80+ psu? Now what do i must do?
The minimum wattage recommended for a 4070 is 650w so you should be fine, but to be on the safe side I would put my whole build into a pc wattage calculator, also you need to get a good cpu cooler for the r7 5700x, ultimately I would suggest you do as much research as you can on your whole build and make sure it works well together this can save you money and time in the long run, good luck with your build
The bottleneck here is nearly half performance.. this is an issue you could of gotten a beter cpu and a 4060ti and got more fps then this.. video is misleading .. this is not testing 4070 its testing 5600x..
4070 is bottlenecking very hard for 1080p, the gpu usage rarely went over 60% on all games, only at battlefield 2042 the 4070 is working at its maximum capability.
And I just saw another video where he is testing 5600x paired with 3060, im not surprised it has similar gaming performance because 3060 is perfect for 1080p. I cant wait for the 4060ti/non ti release
You know elden ring fps are capped to 60fps? You can't run the game above 60 fps, so expect the GPU being only used to get 60 fps loool, and for Fortnite, 160 fps seem also enought anyway
It's overkill on the cpu. If you need the cpu for production, then okay. Even the 7600x would give you full performance on this card and won't ever bottleneck.
@@furkankatirci8857 R7 7700 + 4070 should be fine for 1080p , but you can watch videos of the 7700 + 4070 ti as well and watch cpu + gpu usage to get an idea of the bottleneck.
I know my comment is 7 months later, but how is he using more than 70% of rtx 4070, and a calcutator said me the processor gives a 34% or more of bottleneck?
I have a ryzen 7 5800x and i have many freezes with gaming and with basic activity from desktop at 1080p resolution. Is a problem with graphic or bottleneck? i have used this cpu from six month and i never have a problem but now i have upgrade the pc with the 4070 and start the problems
They’re very comparable CPUs in terms of performance. You could expect pretty much the exact same results, and perhaps slightly better were you OCing. Although I’m sure you’re all good at this point!
@@dtbrain Nice! I actually just installed my new 4070 from a 1660 super today. Would've liked a ti card but didn't trust my PSU wattage to handle it. I have a 11700f and I play on 1080p so I'm sure i'll have a little bottleneck, but nothing significant enough for me to overhaul my PC. Hope your 7700x is still running great!
