It's obvious this young man is a major up and coming talent. If you listen to the phrasing, there is a greater understanding of the phrasing than Wynton. However, there is no justification for playing Hummel 3 this fast. The dotted 16th, 32nd figures in the strings and trumpet cannot be played as anything other than 16th notes Bravo Ruben! What a fantastic accomplishment and inspiration you are to have come so far! I can't wait to hear you mature as a player and musician.
It is a mystery how he can be so seemingly passionless. His playing and phrasing is fantastic. We associate genius with the piano or violin, but here we have it with the trumpet. Perhaps, an explanation for the seeming lack of passion is that to play well, one does have to play without effort.
Wow, that's the fastest rendition I've ever heard. He's a bit over 160 bpm. Technically, he is very talented, much better than most trumpets across the world. But, he still has a long way to go in his music maturity. Especially with phrasing, notably toward the ends of phrases. Articulation on a few spots wasn't exactly to my taste, but that's probably because I'm used to hearing it a certain way. Again, it was excellent, epecially for such a young player.
@moldysoymilk I BELIEVE THAT HE MAKES IT SO EASY PASSION IS NOT SHOWN, BUT ONLY THRU REAL PASSION YOU CAN REACH THAT DEGREE OF PERFECTION. I RESPECT YOUR VIEW, MINE IS COMPLIMENTARY TO YOURS
It is a mystery that you read my comments as negative. I suggest you re-read them and make an effort to respond intelligently, if you have something to say.
Who is the fool who says "his interpretation should be well beyond this"? The kid is 13. What the hell do you expect from him, Maurice Andre already? I grant NO credence to derogatory, pedantic, unreasonable critiques until the critic him/herself puts a video of their OWN up on RU-vid and proves they can do better....I'm waiting.
