Let's compare Plasti Dip and Flex Seal liquid rubber. Which one is better and what are the different characteristics of each? They are both great for placing a protective rubber coating on objects.

Here's a list of the different rubber products used in this series. Plasti Dip and Flex Seal. There are a variety of colors. However, I only listed Black, White, and Clear.

Hello! great tutorial, which one would you think is better for shoe soles in terms of resistance over time, elasticity and how well they adhere to the rubber? I've seen videos of the spray can plasti dip being easily peelable, is it the same with the canned version? All the best!

I’ve used Flex Seal on shoes before and it worked alright. Really scuffs you’re floors though. I’d give the PlastiDip a try.

I have used Plasti Dip, probably 20 years ago. Ours was light blue. I recently saw a video from Flex Seal, on how to dip tools. They tell you to put down a drop cloth, hang a rope and get some clamps to clamp the dipped tools to, till they dry. So they will be hanging over the drop cloth.

Hi, great set of videos! I'm trying to decide on the best one to use for the best grippy/rubbery feel once dry. Also, with the easy applications of the sprays, do they give a grippy/rubbery feel, and is that more or less affective than the dips?

Use the Plasti dip for a good grippy handle. They aren’t the perfect grip but the Plasti dip is better for handles than the flex seal. In this case, I’d also say the liquid would be better than the spray.

Does either product, when cured, slide freely - or does it provide resistance, _(grip), (friction),_ when attempting to move it along the outside diameter of a length of new pvc pipe? :

Good video. Since flex seal liquid drips, how would you apply it to a cast iron waste line above/over head? Would you use flex seal spray instead?

Spraying it on will be better. Do several thin coats.

How to Video, I am looking for a way to extend the life of hollow, plastic tires on my kids' power wheel. They wear so quickly and are a pain to replace every few months. Would either of these products or another you know about be a possible solution? I would appreciate your input. For context, I would remove the tires from the power wheel and either paint, spray, or dip (using a paint tray) the tires one by one.

I’d try filling the tires with spray foam insulation. That may make them stronger. I think Flex Seal or Plasti Dip would wear off pretty quickly with all of the friction of concrete and blacktop.

Wow, I have never seen any of those hard plastic wheels ever completely wear out even over powering them with power tool batteries. There is a RU-vid video of cutting a bicycle tire and screwing it on for traction.

You can try it. I’d stick with what you’ve already used and add more Plasti Dip.

I have a pair of Costa sunglasses that are ten years old. The rubber earpieces started falling apart, and new ones are no longer available. I cleaned up the old ones, installed them, and dipped them in Plasti Dip. It worked perfectly.

I don't know about building them up to that level, but I do know that the people who repair the old RCA Victor 45 players use Plastidip to replace the dried out rubber on the cam wheels.

Probably pickup truck bed liner. You’ll need something strong enough that the sand blasting doesn’t effect it.

Would you recommend the plasti dip for making a non slip bottom for a beer mug? Im looking to make a non slip base I can put on my beer mug so it won't slip on my counter and other hard surfaces

Yes. You’ll need to do several coats or “dips”. The Flex Seal would work but it has more of tendency to leave scuffs.

Hey! Question! But first, thanks for video! Now thats its been 4+ years, how well has it held up? How are they holding up? Do you regret doing it? Have you decided to scrape any of it completely off? In other words, What's your prediction if I did it the exact same way, What results could I expect 3ish+ years later? Specifically, if it was on a small pair of pliers and I kept them in my pocket and used them everyday. Thanks!

I’d use the plasti dip. Pour it in your vase and then pour it back out. Do this 3-6 times.

As long as it is sealed and stored in regular climate controlled temperatures it should last for years.

Try to brush it on as evenly as possible. Let the first coat dry for at least 12 hours. Then you can apply another coat. Depending on how thick you want it, two or three coats should be fine.

I’m totally baffled by you saying the much harder and more durable Flex seal is not good for tool handles?? Difficulty of application should not disqualify it from being clearly better in every other way.

Try both of them and see what you think. The flex seal tends to rub off on the things it touches.
